Don't think I will ever dare to post anything on the theme park stratagies part of this board ever again. Just been flamed over there- They don't hold back do they?

They have a completetly diff way of responding to a post they don't agree with.

all I said was that I wouldn't let my girls 19 and 15 wonder about after 3am on their own (so when out at EMH they have to stay together and that after EMH they would have to be met off the bus coming back to OKW ). You would think I had said that they wern't allowed to go out on their without us at all, even during they day.

Never again:sad2:

A large amount of people on the "US part" of the board are there only to pick fights.
Looks like it's a way to kill time while the ticker ticks on...

I've been flamed quite a few times and have not gone back to that part of the board in a while.

I remember one time when some member managed to argue with me. Actually I had only rephrased his own opinions, as I shared them, but he picked a fight with me because what I said was absolute rubbish ... go figure ...

I guess our UK community is much smaller, you (island people - lol) also have a sense of humor which can be very disturbing (even for a frog like me, who only lives 50 minutes or so from Calais and the chunnel)

And I must admit that we have the best mods around ( mods, I accept checks, credit card or money order, PM me for details :rotfl: )

Don't feel bad it's definitely alot livlier up there :goodvibes

The same few threads seem to do the rounds - there is nothing wrong with using other resort pools, taking back refill mugs from 2001 or pushing a healthy 10 year old in a stroller and watch the fall out

The only other board i frequent is dining and I tend to stay away from the hot topic threads.

eg - poster asks where can I get chicken nuggets for my 4 yr old, 16 responses criticising the ops parenting and only feeding the child nuggets (no where in the q does it hint that ..and no one actually answers the question.

France is fab- We summer in Amboise every year, this year only for a few weeks as we are off to WDW for the rest of the time. But we will be back for the whole summer next year. Last year the weather in France in July was awful (1st time in 6yrs), so we are hoping for a big improvment this year.

yep...keep to the lovely uk boards...I did chuckle though but only because I venture over there on rare occassions and think 'oh good grief you poor OP'..so many of the posters seem to have permanent PMT!:rotfl: The UK boards are so much more laid back.

I must admit I never post anywhere else other than here on the UK side and on any cruise thread when we've be lucky enough to go.

I guess it's that British (European for those the other side of the channel :goodvibes) politeness

(just kidding : )
You're aware that we have a new president in France ... we sank into socialism since may. And the people of France as well as the sky weep.

On his victory drive down the Champs Elysée, he stood through an open roof, under a pouring rain
Then the next day, he took the plane to meet Chancellor Merkel in Germany, and his plane was struck by lightning and he had to turn back.
(And since then, Debby's just refreshing shower compared to what we went through)

(of course I'm just kidding - but not for the rain and lightning part - and this by no means was meant to be a political stand, just good clean fun) :)

currently it's hotter here in northern france than it is on my weather.com watch for Orlando weather :)

They don't - the UK side is different. I think what you get on the main boards is normal. I do spend more time posting and reading on there than I do on here to be truthful. The difference is that I expect that there, whereas I don't expect that here, if you know what I mean. So if someone is rude to me on here, it's like one of my close circle being unkind and it stings more - being on the main boards is like being out in "public" and it's water off a duck's back

I'm sorry you were made to feel like that, but really, nobody who posted on there is going to remember who said what so I wouldnt let that be a reason to stay away :goodvibes

I lurk on the rumours board (and I think it is so really very funny). I have posted on the resort specific threads (Contemporary and GF) and have been given answers to my questions but it doesnt seem as friendly. I actually dont think I have really looked else where!!!!

I saw that post and couldn't understand the backlash you got :confused3 Seemed to me you were doing the sensible thing and after all they're your kids not theirss! I don't post very often but I read a lot and think of you UK'ers as a little trusted family :grouphug:. I always get a much better response when I post a question on the UK boards anyway :)
Don't let it get you down :flower3:

:grouphug: If it makes you feel any better-I agree with you, mind you I'd send DH to meet them:lmao: Off to get the ferry to France now - sounds like they're having better weather :thumbsup2

I think it really varies. I've had fairly blunt but factual responses on the restaurant boards, the resort and trip planning boards have been really friendly to me. I rarely venture near the community board as there appear to be too many people ready to take offence at the smallest disagreement - there's usually something good to read on my lunch break though

The impression I get from some posters, particularly on the resort & food boards are that they are bored of seeing the same questions time and again. I understand that sentiment but if it irritates you that much, leave it for someone else to reply. Newbies don't know that their question is common. :confused3

From the US here. I agree with the PP that you are liable to get flamed on just about any thread. The Startegies section gets more attention so likely attracts a larger number of flamers. Usually happens when you hit a nerve. In your case it was likely people who actually do allow the stated behavior and thusly view it as a personal condemnation of their actions.

Not worth the worry.

the cruise board is full of flamers!!
i regularly get blasted there...

but it doesn't scare me away....there is lots of valuable information to be had on many of the boards...

however, this is the only board i hang around on a regular basis...
i hit the other boards when i have a need for their specific information - like right now i'm planning our cruise in october, so i've had to spend an inordinate amount of time gathering info on the cruise board...
but once the cruise is over, i won't go back there until the next cruise..
whereas, i tend to hang around this board whether i'm in planning mode or not..

in my experience, the UK board is the nicest board on the DIS.....:goodvibes

Read your thread and had to have a look at the other board. All I can say is ask away on our boards because someone will always come along to help you.

My two boys are 19 and 16 ( yes, one at uni) and when he's home for the holidays, I always listen out for him coming in from a night out and then I sleep ok. Doesn't matter how old your kids are, you always worry about them

:laughing: I just took our eldest whose 16 to his Prom and had EXACTLY the same conversation. I told him even when he's 40 he'll always be my baby :rotfl2:
