Worst Room View Pics Thread

This horrid view was posted in a thread from a few days ago. It is soooo bad that it has to be shared - hope the OP doesn't mind! Views this awful truly do exist!! This is a Wilderness Lodge standard view room: :scared1:

Talk about claustrophobia!! :scared:

I am staying at Wilderness Lodge in 3 weeks, and I am so glad I booked a courtyard view, since there is NO WAY I can get that room!! :faint:

I have stayed in this room before-sorry no picture but how different can it look.:upsidedow

I wouldn't say the view was "bad" just not what I expected for paying extra. Just so you know, the room was above the check-in desk and I still think that should be a standard room.

I must be cranky, because that view looks bad, even for standard! LOL I was considering booking standard at WL for our next trip, but now Im afraid too!

That isn't the view we had. If you're scared, pay for Woods view and request "otter pond" view. Hopefully that will help.

With WL charging more for a woods view, that makes me worry about what the standard views look like. Are they really that bad? Are there that many roof and parking lot views at WL?

We had a standard view in Sept. If you looked down you could see the Smokehouse and service area. However, looking straight ahead were trees and the monorail whizzing by. Nice for $135 per night, right? I wasn't going to complain.

That's my room/post! I just found this thread so I suppose I'm a bit behind...

This was the worst view I've ever had at WDW-worse then at ASMu for a lot less $ and worse than my last trip-standard view at AKL.

I tend to not care that much about the view as I am virtually never in the room. Ex: we did a 14 hour day at Epcot on this trip. If we had kids and knew we'd be in the room more I wouldn't have considered standard. The other reason I booked standard is that it's the only way we could afford a deluxe and I really do prefer them (I've stayed in all the cats).

When my parents decided to join us I tried to get them in a woods view as DDad has a history of insisting on changing rooms at WDW based on the view. They were sold out so we got them a courtyard, which turned out to be pretty nice (though not the greatest courtyard view they have) and he liked it-def. worth the cash.

Now all that said and with having really liked WL on the whole (the decor, the lobby, WCC...) I may well never book a low cat again. When we were at AKL we essentially had a parking lot view, but on a low floor so all we saw was trees. I expected the same and got a surprise.:scared1: I didn't ask to change rooms because I knew they were sold out and I liked opening to the lobby (this was the 4th floor), but maybe I should have.

Is a better view worth hundreds more $-no, but a bit more-definitely.

I hope not, but with my luck, this is what I will get.:sad2:

More pictures! C'mon! I know they're somewhere out there! This is a lot of fun!

So far (knock, knock) we've had decent or good or excellent views, so I can't help.

Yes you are correct, it was room 6048 at The Dolphin. We kept the shades closed the entire stay! The sound of construction vehicles backing up (beep...beep...beep...) woke us propmtly at 6am every morning. Off to the far right is part of the Beach Club/Yacht Club I think.

What an AWFUL view! What did you reserve and pay for this room ?

Sorry, TaraPA saw late what you posted, thanks...so great to have a wonderful mind like that so you won't spoil your vacation.

Oh, Tara that has me so scared. I am going in May and will most likely have enough points for at least 3 or 4 free nights. I will freak if I get stuck with a view like that. Did you complain at all or just deal with it. Do you think they would have moved you if you had asked? I am hoping that my SPG Gold status will help us get a free upgrade to a better view and hopefully a balcony too. Do you have any other pics that show other parts of the view- like over towards Epcot could you see anything better?

CrazyKanga...don't count on getting an exceptional view (Epcot) even if you are Gold status with Starwood. Today, I think everyone and there grandmom are...if you know what I mean. Everyone checks in and thinks they will get something exceptional for nothing. It happened to us this past year. We too are Gold status and if we had NOT PAID partial stay and RESERVED a room for Resort View with Balcony, would of ended up in that similar room TaraPa posted. They go up one upgrade from what you Paid and Reserved in advance. That is how the CM's check you in at the front desk.:thumbsup2

I should have taken pictures but I didn't....when we took our DD for her first trip ever to WDW, we stayed at ASMO, she looked at the resort map and right away asked to say in the Dalmation rooms. We got our choice, we were put in Dalmation building 4..standard view. Our view was of a bunch of dead tree's, it almost appeared to be a compost pile on the backside of the building! :scared1: After that, we've requested preferred view rooms only...I'll happily pay the extra $$$! :thumbsup2

FYI ~ We paid for a woods view room back in 2005 and when I looked out our balcony it was of the roof and the parking lot.

Some standard rooms at the WL overlook the service area. From what I hear, the higher up your room, the less you notice it.

The same thing happened to us! We booked Woods View and and ended up on the 5th floor over WCC. We walked into the room and the first thing that hit us was the overpowering smell of bacon. Then we heard beeping trucks. Lo and behold, we were directly over a service area with one tall palm tree in front of us. I thought for sure it was a Standard View but the front desk CM assured me it was Woods. Thankfully, they moved us to a room overlooking the Otter Pond. I checked on the WL FAQ thread and confirmed the first room was considered Woods. Another poster told me that the rooms on the 4th, 5th and 6th floor above WCC are considered Woods while the same rooms on lower floors are Standard. :confused3

OMG, that roof view at the WL is horrid!!!

We had one of the lesser views at SSR. Even though it overlooked a parking lot, the view wasn't too bad. It just goes to show you that if this is considered a bad view at SSR, most of the views there are very nice.

This is a view towards the room (standard) that I was originally assigned at POFQ back in 2001. The view from the room was straight into the ugly tree. It wouldn't have been as much a disappointment if the CM hadn't gushed on and on about how much I was going to the love the view from my room!!!

I did ask to be changed to a different room but not because of the view per se but because since I was staying solo I didn't want to have a room so blocked from public view.

Maybe the tree has grown tall enough now that the view has improved but I doubt it!

Wow! I agree thats not the greatest view, but...if thats the worst SSR has to offer, its pretty darn good.

I love my DVC! Before DVC We had CR parking lot views and a really bad view at WL. Since DVC, its all been lovely.

Who has time to enjoy a view at WDW resorts? :confused3 We are so busy, our room is a place to nap, shower, change, and lay our heads down at night after a busy day at the parks!! ;) As long as my room is clean, the water runs hot and cold, and the toilet works, I have never concerned myself with the view. I guess I have never even thought about the view. This is why we don't spend the money on deluxe resorts, it would just seem so pointless to spend the extra money....:grouphug:
Some people enjoy having a room with a nice view and/or balcony. Some people pay extra for those "views" and then don't get what they pay for, I find that horrible.

With all that Disney can do, you would think they could figure out a way so there were "no bad views", "no parking lot views"... Rooms are expensive at Disney; everyone should be able to have a decent view. We actually spend more than half of our time hanging out at the resort. I want a decent view. I am willing to pay more for a decent view but even when I have paid more it has not always worked out. At AKL (in 2003), our Savanna view ended up with us having a great view of our neighbor's room (we were on an inside corner), could barely see any animals unless we leaned over the balcony. I got so tired of seeing our neighbor walking around in his underware. Maybe I should have taken pictures... :rotfl:
