Worst Ride Experience..I lost it on Mission Space

I rope drop MK to get a jump on the crowds. While most people get caught up in the rush to 7DMT, I go the opposite way to Adventureland to get some no line rides for the first half hour or so. One morning, I quick walked to Pirates, raced through the corridors and stopped at the boat ramp. There was no one else behind me. Just me and the CM. I thought, "Great! I get the boat to myself! I don't have to share! How cool." I got into the boat and as the ride started, it began to sink in. There's no one else. Just me. Alone in this boat. No other people in the boats ahead of me or behind me. And I was completely alone throughout the whole ride. Creepy. Definitely not as cool as you would think. Just. Really creepy. I like Pirates. When you're on the ride and surrounded by other people, its a great, nostalgic, vintage ride. Those mannequins are quaint. But when you are all alone, those mannequins are more than a little scary. I suppose this was a very unique experience and I should be thankful for it. I had the ride to myself. But once was enough. I won't be doing that again.o_O
My sister and I had a similar experience with Jurassic Park at Universal. We thought the ride was closed because nobody was in line. They seated us and we went off alone. It was a very creepy experience especially because we never were on it before and had no idea what to expect.

We were in one of those big moving theater cars alone on Ellen's Energy Adventure a couple of years ago. I never admitted this before, but I was scared spitless going through the dinosaur part, especially when the one dinosaur leans down close to the car and blows the steam out of his nostrils.

I will never go on ToT again. I remember, it was like 2-3 drops, and I was like, okay, I'm done. Then it just kept going...I looked at DH in panic and was like "how many more drops can there be?" Then came the creepy children in the hallway. I really don't like creepy singing children either.

Ok, this is embarrassing but here goes...last week we were in Epcot. DH and DS's love Mission Space. DD not so much. Her and I had not ridden it in years. This year she decided she wanted to give it another go. I remember not loving the experience (green) because tight spaces aren't my thing. While in line I kept hearing the warnings. DD now 11 was excited so I didn't give it too much thought. Until they shut the door on that tuna can :scared1::scared1:. What the heck was I thinking quickly enters my mind. DD is excitedly chirping away. 'Isn't this fun mom?' Oh yes I manage to eek out. Now my heart is racing and I can't catch my breath. That stupid air blowing in my face is not helping. :rotfl2:. I am in full blown panic attack, I can laugh now. I am on the end and gently rapping on the door. I am caught between not wanting to ruin DD's experience and not wanting an unsuspecting cast member to find my limp body at the end. When my knocks of terror went unnoticed I decided it best to clench my eyes shut, pray to the dear Lord for mercy and go to my happy place ( all the while answering my daughters million questions and hitting my button at the appropriate time). I'm proud to tell the tale- I lived through it and will never ride it again :rotfl: What was you're worst ride experience and why?

Yup. This ride was the worst I've even been on, even worse than Space Mountain (I hate the dark). The claustrophobia was barely tolerable. DH rides it with the older kids while the younger one and I hang around the indoor play area.

I could not deal with Mission Space: Team Orange. I wanted to like it. I really, REALLY wanted to like it. I loved the feeling during take off when my whole body was pulled back into my seat. I loved the "weightless" feeling. But soon after that my stomach just started turning like nobody's business. I could not even concentrate on the rest of the ride because I was fighting the nausea with everything I had.

Pretty much anything thats a free fall harsher than Tower of Terror gets a "no" from me. I think the dips back up make all the difference - I feel great and exhilarated from that one! As far as Disney rides go Mission Space is the only one I won't do as many others have said. I've done it twice and it seriously gets me right to about where I can't take it anymore and then lets off which is not a great feeling to experience over again. If it was just one time maybe it'd be OK... I won't do green either because it doesn't do anything at all... where is the middle option? ;)

I used to be able to ride Mission Space over and over in my 20s.... I hit 30, and now that ride makes my stomach turn afterwards. No more missions for me!

This is embarrassing. I completely lost it on ToT. I had watched the youtube videos, my kids begged me, and I thought "how bad can it be?" Omg. It was fine until the thing shoots up. I was shrieking and screaming like I was being murdered. It was so awful! And how is it there's only a flimsy seatbelt holding you in place? I swear I had air time. The photo is me shrieking, with my eyes clenched tight, holding on for dear life. My kids are looking at me with alarm. Everyone else is smiling and taking selfies. NEVER. AGAIN. Note to self: when your choice of answers to the question "how bad can it be?" is "not bad" and "really bad", go with the latter.
This is exactly why I am too terrified to ride ToT. Every time I swear I'm going to do it. NOPE!

I can't do the teacups. They say a Mother's love surpasses all.. which is true, except for the teacups. I can't.. I won't. DH has to take one for the team on that one.

My bad experience wasn't so bad, but it was funny. But I also thought I was going to die. It was at US- that damn Simpsons ride. My Mom has a heart condition and decided to go on it anyway. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it sure wasn't what the ride ended up being. I was worried about my Mom, my Dad was laughing like a maniac, my husband (who does not like dark rides) was nearly hyperventilating... It was fun, and we still laugh about it today but man. I didn't think so at the time.

Ughhh this is mine, too. I haven't been scared of any Disney ride ever, I have no problem with heights or ferris wheels and it's hard to find a roller coaster i won't love. But we did a swinging car on the death wheel last year when I went because we thought the normal part of the ferris wheel would be too boring. The couple I was with had no problems, but I could NOT handle it. It wasn't so bad when the wheel was moving, but when we were rolling back and forth while the wheel was stopped for loading, I was terrified. I get panic attacks sometimes and the idea that I was going to have one in this cage above California Adventure didn't help my fear. Luckily the ride wasn't all that long and I managed to hold it off. But if I ever get back to DLR, I'll definitely be in a non-swinging car on that ferris wheel.
You realize that those non-swinging cars actually go higher above the ground, right?

You had me laughing out loud because I felt the exact same way on mission space. The chlostrophobia got the best of me and I hated the pressure of having to push the button. Will never ride again and definitely my worst ride experience. Hope it was ok that I chuckled a bit.

Personalized Mouse...THANKS for reminding me about Mission Space(Green)..:goodvibes.TRIED it about 5 years ago with the kids, didn't really like it and had FP for it for our upcoming F&W trip thinking I would give it another try..Your post "brought me to my senses" !:laughing:Think I will skip it this trip and substitute some great food and drink instead!:drinking1::yes::

My pleasure...from one jersey girl to another lol

ONLY reason I will go on MS, once a trip....is to listen to Gary. I'd buy a CD of him reading the phone book. Sigh.

Went to Candlelight Processional (twice) when he was hear a year or so ago.....if he comes back I'm going again, lol.

Carousel of Progress... My wife's friends said it was one of her favorite attractions so we decided to ride it. There was a mechanical issue in which we were stuck between the 2nd and 3rd stages. The CM's or whoever operates the attraction kept trying to back it up and then have it go forward again. We kept hearing the "It's a great big beautiful tomorrow" song start and stop over and over and over again. We were stuck on it for over 45 minutes before they finally came and escorted us off the ride. To this day we laugh about it but still have not ridden it again.

Close second.. Being stuck on IASW for about 30 minutes towards the end of the ride and hearing the song over and over again.

I'm guessing that we should just give up on those kinds of rides.. :)

Ha! We got stuck on Carousel of Progress, too! When "Tomorrowland" came out in theaters and they played that song, DH and I groaned and laughed.

I just remembered a ride I took in 2011 at Knoebel's called the Hamster Wheel. It's a big wheel that spins in one direction and you sit in a smaller 'hamster' wheel with someone else and spin around in the opposite direction:

I'm pretty well Pooh-sized (that's me in the orange), and so the hamster wheel was spinning around at breakneck speed counterclockwise while the big wheel went fast clockwise...and I thought, "here's where I die, on a hamster wheel." I got off and the vertigo was so bad and my stomach was churning so much I had to sit down for several minutes with my eyes closed. That's the only time I've ever been done in by a ride.

We had a ride similar to this in NH at Benson's Wild Animal Farm, but you could control the spinning yourself. I let my brother rock it but told him I would destroy him if he made it go upside-down. (We were about 15 and 14 at this time.) A few weeks later, we were at a local carnival that had a ride similar to the one you rode on. I told him I suspected that you couldn't control the spinning and he SWORE to me that you could. When we got on the ride, the attendant pulled the seat belt so tightly that I asked my brother again if he was sure we could control the spinning. The ride starts and I immediately starting rolling forward and head over heels. I started screaming my brother and he was laughing maniacally. Yeah, SOOOOO funny.

At the Disney parks, the only ride I don't like is RnRC. The first time I rode it, my hair was in a ponytail so my head wouldn't stay back in the seat. I pulled a muscle in my neck, which made the rest of the ride day less fun. I tried it again with my hair down, but didn't like feeling that I had to keep myself pressed against the seat so I wouldn't get thrown around so much.

The only time I had a genuinely bad experience on a ride was the Flight Simulator at the Air & Space Museum in my mid-30s. My friend and I rode the one with the automated flight plan and we were screaming and laughing...until my seat belt started loosening while we were upside-down. Then I started screaming for real as the only thing keeping me in my seat at that point was my death grip on the seat (and probably some physics). I survived uninjured, but I will NEVER ride anything like that again.

RnRc hurts my neck as well, I won't go on it now. Also SM- in Paris same thing. Should be re named to Breakneck Mountain.

Body Wars @ Epcot when it was open! I had never been on it before but I think it was 2003 I went on for the first and last time. About mid way through I started feeling nauseous and there was nothing I could do but look forward at the screen and hope to God it would end soon.

That horrific ride was the first ride in my life to make me green. I rode it on our honeymoon in 1990. At that time I had just turned 21 and loved to ride spinny rides all day long. Then I got in that thing, and oh dear, I have never felt so horrible!!! I had to take a bit of a breather after that to keep my lunch down. Never again. I did not shed any tears when they closed it.

This! Every -- and I mean everry -- ride that has a drop or even a sharp curve is a ride I take with eyes closed. I love them all but I can't look. It's a family tradition to beeline to the photo wall and find Mom with her face pinched shut.. Or screaming full throttle. DD always looks like she's sitting on the couch at home.

But it's the people around us -- it had never occurred to me that people have their wits about them enough to pose, at the exact photo moment, until I saw in one photo the couple behind us on Splash Mountain acting like they're having tea with the queen. Wow!

This sounds like the Wonder Wheel at Coney Island. I hate it, can't wait to get off it, am glad DD is old enough to go by herself now. Thanks to you all, I'm crossing the Mickey wheel off my list, if we ever make it to DL.

I'm loving this thread!
