When was the last time you used Cash?

About a week ago? At the mall with my kids, DD14 wanted a tiny hand cream from Miniso. It was only $2.25 with tax and I had the change on me.

Stopped at a rest stop on the way home from Maryland, and paid cash for lunch.

Only reason is that I had taken some cash with me in advance of the trip.

Today for a haircut. Cash discount with my barber, so it saves me a little so I can give him a bigger tip.

Cash purchases register more with me and it's painful breaking a $100. That debit card / credit card is way too easy to whip out, and much less painful for some reason.

Interesting. I didn't think any store charged for carts anymore. Never was the norm here.
Here in NY state, they started doing this regularly a few months ago. I try to avoid places that charge for using a credit card. Sometimes it is hard or I have to remember to bring cash.

Lots around here started charging for card use during Covid, and have kept it afterwards. The extreme number of takeout order they were doing I think alerted businesses to the amount of credit card fees they were paying monthly to Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.

Almost every day because most of the restaurants or little shops charge almost 4% more if using a card. I'd rather use the cash if I have it.
I don't eat out or go to bakeries that often, but some of my favorite restaurants don't take cards at all. Best donuts in town are cash only. Some of the best hole in the wall/no menu in English places I've ever eaten--also, cash only. I'd use cash if it meant I had to pay the 4%, too!

A really great fish place near me is cash only and the owner says they will never change. They do have a small ATM on site, so that kinda works I guess. The wait on a Friday or Saturday night is 1 hour just to get in, so I guess they can do whatever they want!

Today. I bought food from 2 food trucks. Both take cards but I used cash. One was my brother who gives me a hard time when I pay him.

a few weeks ago at a casino- they only take cash which I had to get from an atm there since I never carry cash.

About an hour ago. A friend’s teenage daughter has an annual bake sale to raise money for a local Children’s Hospital. I bought a delicious chocolate chip cookie for $25. 😁

A few days ago. I was at a brewery that had a separate pizza business outside, and the pizzas were cash only.

A few minutes ago to buy a frozen coffee drink. Their credit card terminal is down. That's kind of why I always have enough cash on me to buy a tank of gas. Run into that issue at gas stations too.

Everyday I'm out. I try not to use my debit card especially at the gas station as I was a victim of the card reader stealing at one.
