What's the opposite of Pixie Dust :(

I dont see where it was the TA fault! When making ADR the CMS ALWAYS ask if your on the plan.. I have been to CRT on the DDP twice and never charged more than the $1 that after a fw days was replaced.

Unfortunatley mistakes happen but WDW needs to step up, I feel positive that if you follow up and ask to speak to someone else you may get a comprimise, at the very least I feel you should get the exchange rate back..

I would definately contact wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com.
Let them know what happend leave your name & phone number.
That's just not right what happend to you. Not saying it's Disney fault it maybe they can help you with the time. Good Luck and the TA should give u the 20 back.

I'm not clear why the CC was actually CHARGED. They're only supposed to HOLD your CC, not CHARGE it until/unless you cancel without notice.

When you book CRT it must be paid in full at time of purchase (unless you are on and have paid for the dining plan at which point in time the cc is only suppossed to be used as a back-up but clearly that didn't happen based off some error on Disney/TA's part). We are going twice on our December trip, once pre-park opening and another for dinner on our last evening. When I booked them a couple of weeks ago they were and have always been immediately charged to my CC. This has been the case of CRT for years. Other restaurants such as Cal Grill and Akerhus request a cc hold but you are not charged unless you cancel in the appropriate timeframe or are a no-show.

As a previous poster mentioned, if using the dining plan, you can request to use credits when you are there and your money is refunded to your account. We use the TIW card so prior to getting the bill, we show them the TIW card, and get 20% credited back to my account.

I feel bad for the OP as I have heard of people adding the dining plan later after paying for CRT and the CM being able to simply swap out one for the other without impacting the time. It all depends on the knowledge of the CM that one gets unfortunately.

Sorry OP...keep checking back, open slots pop up all the time.

Two issues here, and both have happened to us:

TA - she messed up, and absolutely needs to refund you the $20.00. This happened to us, but Disney goofed, so they had a gift card waiting for us upon arrival (it was for more than the actual price discrepancy). It has happened 2x and so I contacted Guest Services and they handled it.

ADR loss - I see this happening many times. I would never cancel one without confirmation of another, but it sounds like you got the last time slot. Hopefully, they can work something out for you? They need to fix their system, but in the least, they should offer you a gift card for your trouble at having to dine at a later date.

Being charged in full for CRT happens a lot. Computer glitches or CM glitches? Who knows? None of this was your fault, and so as a guest, they should make it right in any way they can.

Good luck, Tiger :)

Do you have contact information for Guest Services? Could you PM it to me please. I just got off the phone with Dining Reservations and it seems like there is nothing they can do or maybe just not willing... not entirely sure. The woman I spoke to told me that she can't undo what happened in the past - YIKES. I totally understand that we are all human and mistakes happen (we all make them) - I am just frustrated that at this point no one that can make a difference seems to care (at least they aren't showing they do). This reservation is on the actual day of my Daughter's 6th birthday it's a big deal... I just want it to be perfect. Oh and I want my $20 too

When I booked CRT for our September trip I called and they took my CC # just to place it on hold (they never charged my account). The only time that it will be charged is if we were a no show or cancelled after our alloted time to cancel. However, the PP is correct....if you book CRT from online dining, they will automatically charge your account then once you go to the check-in desk, just let them know and they will refund your account and then they will deduct your dining credits.
I'm wondering if it depends on what plan you have. We own DVC and I've always been charged CRT ahead of time and received a credit at the end of the meal. Our last visit was last year in July and that is what they did.

Your TA owes you the $20, not Disney. Your TA should have known there would be an exchange rate issue with a refund. It's not Disney's fault that there is an exchange rate. Your TA also gave Disney permission to issue the refund after it was explained that they would have to cancel the other reservation and try to rebook. Disney didn't do it without that permission.

Having seen this happen and heard the stories, I seriously think your TA didn't understand what was needed to be done. As such, you should hold them accountable for the exchange rate money and the ADR change time.

As the mother of a 6 year old, I can tell you that dinner at CRT on the night of her birthday will be perfect no matter the time. I know this burns but once you are there, in that moment, it will be a priceless memory and $20 bucks will seem like nothing.

You didn't have to change the time, you could have just gotten the payment refunded when you arrived at the restaurant. Agreed, this is an error by the travel agent, if she knew you were on a dining plan they should have checked to see that the card was not being charged for the full amount. (Heck I never book ADRs for anybody and I know that there's a lot of trouble with booking prepaid meals on the dining plan)

Sometimes Disney makes mistakes and charges in full even if the person booking is on the dining plan. This happens OFTEN and I doubt you will receive any kind of compensation for this. The travel agent should know to ask if you could get the money refunded on site rather than changing the reservation, especially if the travel agent is a Disney specialist. (If you told them to change the reservation and NOT wait for the refund that's different)

Due to the exchange rate you might have been out more if you waited though.

That is what we did in March at the Spirit of Aloha. Our card was charged and when I called them back to correct it there where no other openings for the early show so the CM said I could just keep it and they would correct it the night of the show. Of course ADR was made in Nov and not corrected until March but it was already fixed when we picked up our tickets 2 days before the show. It would have been nice if CM gave you that option.

I agree with pp that once you are there and celebrating this will all be a distant memory. :)

Whose reservation do you suggest they cancel so you can have the 5:30 p.m. timeslot?

I'm sorry I don't have it in front of me, and I can't get it as my laptop is running out of power, so I have to go plug it in!

I just contacted the regular guest communications emails address - you could do a quick search.

We were given a gift card for the exchange difference as Disney made an error in charging our card while on Dining Plan - it happened 2x, and both times a supervisor contacted me, and the gift card was waiting for us when we checked in.

Good luck, Tiger :)

Wow Ifontaine - I don't know how or why you thought that I would expect them to take someone else's timeslot and give it to me... that's not even close to anything I was suggesting. I am sorry that I led you to believe that was the kind of person I am... very sad from my end. I was frustrated by the woman that I spoke with today that kept repeating that she couldn't undo what happened in the past - she didn't even take the time to look and see if there were any other timeslots available, she was so stuck on not being able to help... I had to speak to her supervisor just to have someone look for available timeslots.

MSLRAC - thank you for this... such kind words and you are probably right - just spending some time with Cinderella on her birthday will be great... even if it's a late dinner :)

Hey next time I travel to WDW I will just come here to book rather then leave it in that hands of anyone else... seems like the consensus here is that my TA is the one that fudged up... really too bad because she had me totally convinced that it was Disney who made the error.

Thanks for all the great answers.

Crazy idea - check for a 3:55 reservation. Usually, the search window is 2 hours. There are still some 3:55 reservations that may be available!! That is how I got my reservation 75 days out for CRT!

But do it by phone. The online system is buggy, the phone reps are wicked great, and it is a load off the mind!

From the dining reservation site:

I made up the date and the # of adults/children, but a lupper may be way more special than a late supper with a birthday girl who is running on excitement instead of sleep and energy!

Lots of availability!

This happened to our family last year. I was on the dining plan and made our reservations online. Instead of my credit card being held for the reservation, the full price of the meal was was charged to it. ADRs were made only 90 days out then and it was the week of Thanksgiving, so i just left my reservation the way it was. We also called disney and they told us that we would have to wait until the time of our reservation and have our waiter credit our card and use our dining credits. Our waiter was wonderful and had no problem doing this. But honestly, this process of securing reservations does peeve me a little. I think a credit card hold, a name, and a phone number would have been sufficient. CRT is a wonderfully magical experience though. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about our server.:love::love: It was my favorite meal of our last trip.

I agree that your TA is to blame for the issues.

Maybe initially charging the card could have been Disney's oops, but they tell you before they cancel your ressie to rebook a different one. They will repeat it and have you confirm that you want them to do this. When initially scheduling, they have also always with me told me exactly what was getting charged to my card and made clear when it was just a hold.
Maybe your TA just wasn't paying any attention to what was being said. :confused3

You were kind of the victim of two errors, IMHO. Your TA caused a few issues with not understanding the process it seems, but ultimately, Disney charged your card in the full amount, in the first place despite you being on DP. As I mentioned, it's happened to us 2x now over the years. According to the Dining supervisor I spoke with, it happens all of the time. It's never an issue for US guests as they don't see any type of fee, but for us with foreign exchange rates, it will cost us.

So, your TA is at fault, but so is Disney for charging you in the 1st place, as I stated in my above post. Too bad they both can't split on the $20.00, but since that's not possible, I would suggest emailing them, and they should get back to you on it. They can't control the exchange rate, but when an error is caused on their end that results in an exchange rate cost to the guest, they will rectify it. I can attest to this on my end.

Here is the guest communication email: wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

Good luck! Tiger :)
