What's so special about Concierge?

A
2. Boarding. We spent a total of, maybe 30-minutes, from the time we arrived at the port to when we were actually having our name called. We showed up around 11:00, and they stopped the line, so we could bypass everyone, have our picture taken, and go on the ship. That was the moment my husband decided he would never book anything but concierge again.

That's when we were sold, too - we went concierge on our first cruise because we were all a little hesitant, especially my dad, about being trapped on a ship and having a dedicated staff made us feel better. As we walked past the crowd with our two 1/2 year old and didn't have to wait, we were all looking at each other thinking "wow, that was money well spent."

Also, a 24 hour snack buffet with unlimited bottled water and sodas as mentioned before. An amazing coffee machine that makes Cappuccino, espresso, americano, & hot chocolate. 100 minutes of free wifi, an arcade card. The best stateroom hosts, you never have to wait in line at the excursions or guest services desk, additional adult dining reservations open up like magic, Castaway Cay Cabanas are easier to reserve. Quiet hallways, free sunscreen. Complimentary cocktail hour before dinner. Amazing concierge staff.

Unless something has changed, Palo room service is only for the larger suites.

We did concierge on our last dream, it was nice, and that particular cruise was not a big price difference.

It is an experience on the Dream and Fantasy, I personally would not bother on the classic ships.

The snacks and drinks were cool (grey goose on the rocks!) but they are limited hours. You can't get a grey goose at 10 am, otherwise, I could have a break even on day 2 (only on the cruise for the record).

They do have a cool pillow menu. Our stateroom host got a laugh on us and the fact that we had like 20 pillows brought into the room. You can order all types of pillows, gel, feather, etc

All in all a nice experience, but do note that once you book concierge, it is NOT refundable.

That's good to know about the wifi! Anyone know the $$ value of that?

Is Jim Beam available in the lounge?

Trying concierge first on the renovated Magic and this thread has been very helpful. Last time we cruised it was on the Disney's Big Red Boat so this will be a huge change for us.

That would be $40 per day since it is 100 minutes a day if you used all of the minutes. We never did.

We sailed concierge for our very first cruise last year and agree, it spoils you. Our next three are booked concierge as well. All on the Dream class. To us, it is really the intangibles you can't put a price on that make it special. This will be different for everyone.

The virtual guarantee of a cabana on Serenity Bay and Palo/Remy reservations on the night(s) that we wanted, as well as not having to stand in a cattle call line to get on the boat were enough for us to book concierge.

I'm glad we did. Not only did we get a cabana, but we also got the one we wanted. When I logged in at midnight 120 days out to make sure we had what we wanted, it was already preloaded and done. I've heard from others who are Platinum CC members that all cabanas were sold out at midnight, at least on our cruise. If we hadn't gotten the cabana there's a strong likelihood my wife would have spent the majority of her time on the boat instead of on Castaway Cay, as she spontaneously combusts in the sun.

I was wondering about guest access to the consierge areas. For example, I like the idea of travelling conceirge, but we're thinking of travelling with my in-laws who wouldn't want to pay the extra expense. If they can't join us I don't think it would be worth it, but at the same time it doesn't seem right for them to have acces for something they didn't pay for.

The amenities such as the lounge and sun deck are for concierge guests only. Your in-laws can visit you in your stateroom, but they should not partake of anything from the lounge or go to the sun deck.

It is 100 minutes for the week that is included, not 100 minutes a day. I just checked emails and the occasional FaceBook and used up all the 100 minutes by weeks end!

We're doing Magic Concierge the first cruise out of drydock. Our first concierge cruise.....I'm still hoping for a lounge to be squeezed in there somewhere.....:3dglasses

This has been very helpful-thanks everyone!

Slightly off topic - When is the Magic finished with it's renovations? I've not followed that upgrade very closely, is it expected to be as "good" as the Dream/Fantasy? My first Disney Cruise was on the Magic about 3 years ago, it was nice but once I tried the Dream, I've specifically avoided itineraries which were only served by the Magic and Wonder. Will the renovations open up the Magic as a possible alternative to the newer ships?

We're on the 10/20/13 cruise out of Miami. It's a double dip. We're without kidlums (our first grandson just showed up on 5/23) but we love the adult pools on the classics more than the newer ships. It would just be great to have a lounge added for the classics.

We are cruising concierge 10/27 on the Dream. this will be our 2nd cruise on the Dream and 1st time for Disney Concierge. We booked a one bedroom. I understand that we will not be able to order room service from Remy, however, will we be able to order room service from Palo?

After reading this thread I am excited to have booked concierge!!! Even though it costs more, the experience sounds worth it!! Hope we're not disappointed!!

Palo room service is for the royal suites only. I've never heard of anyone getting Remy room service.

Oh, oops! I thought it was per day. We didn't use it much so I didn't pay attention but good to know.

We are sailing Concierge Disney Dream in October. I know that we get priority boarding but will we have the opportunity to meet Mickey in the terminal before we board? Do we need to line up for this with everyone? I'm only wondering because my sister really hates being "in" crowds so this might be something we have to skip.

Based on my experience if you aren't in concierge you will not get a family beach cabana. I logged in at the stroke of midnight as a platinum cruiser and every family cabana was already gone. Seems like serenity bay cabanas are available for gold/platinum cruisers but not the family beach ones.

I don't remember meeting mickey when we sailed concierge but didn't look for a separate line.

We did not. I *think* he is in the main section of the terminal and the concierge lounge is separated with a separate entrance to the boarding tunnel (or whatever it's called).

We saw some characters as we walked in so if meeting them is a priority do it before you go to the concierge checkin area. Same with using the bathrooms. Finish the looking around in the terminal and then checkin, because once you do that the concierge people want to escort you onto the ship!
