Western Caribbean with a wheelchair user

I’m after some help and tips and recommendations for the western Caribbean itinerary with a wheelchair user. My mum has a mobility scooter but I was toying with hiring her manual as this might be easier for port adventures. Is there anything that I should be looking for or that I need to know? We did the four night Bahamas cruise and we just stayed on the ship at Nassau.
