Chocolate Tasting​


Danae (GatorMomInNC) will be organising a private DIS Chocolate Tasting group, it is a newish thing so and after a little research it appears that you get a selection of white, milk and dark chocolate (dark 62%, darker 72% and darkest 85%!) and a shot glass of melted white, milk and dark chocolate. You taste the different chocolates with a variety of wines as well as a glass of whisky. I believe it is $30 per person.

CALLING ALL CHAMPAGNE GIRLS !!!!

Hi Ladies

I’ve got a list for the CHAMPAGNE GIRLS meeting. Please note ~ Ladies only (sorry guys) It is compulsory to wear PINK including Tiaras & Feather Boas! If you are interested, please PM me with the information stated in the Rules above. (Approx cost is $30)

I've been in touch with DCL as it had come to light that they have changed their numbers for private tastings now to a minimum of 25 to a maximum of 40. Obviously this causes an issue for champagne girls as we thought the numbers were up to 49 as in previous years.

This list now accurately reflects the order on a first come first serve booking basis.

*** On a plus side, DCL have confirmed they could potentially hold 2 Champagne Girls on the same day and, from info received for this year’s EBTA, they were offered 12.30 pm and 2.30 pm by DCL as times for each group. DCL have taken my request and will confirm a date nearer the time.

I am going to adjust the list on the basis that we are holding 2 events but, if DCL change their minds, the first 40 names only can attend, but I hope that will not be the case as it seemed very positive that 2 would be available. Potentially now everyone can join in and we will have a few spare places for newbies who book between now and September and want to join in too.

I have posted the 2 group lists a few posts below this and have tried to make sure there is an even good mix, in each group of previous WBTA, previous EBTA, existing friends and newbies. This list has now been submitted to DCL with everyone's full names and reservation number to confirm your place.

Ok, I have seen the word candy mentioned a few times on our FB posts. There are a few of us who do indulge!!! So, I have decided to take on the Candyswap .

What it is? It is as delicious and tempting as the title infers; participants exchange candy among each other. For instance many countries/states/areas have some specialty which you might consider introducing to your fellow cruisers. I know that here in New England we have an awesome candy, which I wont share the name of, but, OMG get your taste buds ready.
If there is nothing really specific from your neck of the woods, don't worry! Just bring along something you find mouthwatering and know that others will appreciate you sharing it.

For the Secret Mickey you will either be assigned 1 person or 1 stateroom to provide a gift/gifts for ( you will have a choice on whether you are buying for a stateroom or 1 person). I ask that the approx. value of the gift/gifts be $25 (approx GB£16, Aus$25, Can$25). You may break it up into a few small gifts so you can deliver on multiple days or 1 gift to be given on the day of your choice. For delivery, you can have the stateroom host put the gift in the room for you, ask guest services to deliver it to the room or you can have the gift in a bag and hang it from the fish outside the room. Please attach a tag somewhere to say that it is from their Secret Mickey.

*I'm not sure if we are limited to signing up for one tasting for mixology or if they will allow us 2 tastings on the WBTA. I know there is a limit of how many people are in each tasting (I thing 49 people is the max....) Just wanted to let everyone know just in case they don't make the final list. There will be many people dropping out and signing up for the tasting.....just keep the faith....hopefully everyone will make the final list! :)

:sad::sad::sad:This event has been cancelled because Disney Cruise Line doesn't offer the rum cocktail tasting on their list of events to be booked. :sad: :sad::sad: Will delete list of names in a couple of days.
 
Final Confirmation for Mixology (9/2/14)


WAHOO!!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1: Ladies and gents...we have confirmation from Alma of DCL about our mixology tastings. It is confirmed that we will have all three classes on Sunday, Sept. 7. Group #1 will be at 1:00 pm, group #2 will be at 3:00 pm, and group #3 will be at 5:00 pm. Group #1 & #2 will be at Keys and group #3 will be held at O'Gill's Pub. If you are unable to attend your class, get with customer services as soon as you board the ship and notify them that you will need to cancel out of that class. Alma has already confirmed the names with the Magic.

So, so excited that these events were finally approved! :banana::banana:
Look forward to meeting you all! Have a safe flight to Barcelona and we'll meet on the boat!!!

Mixology update!

Well......just to add to the ridiculous situation going on with the confirmation of different groups, I just called Alma with DCL to see if she had heard on our confirmation. She looked through her papers and she had heard from them. I'm pleased to announce that we are confirmed for one mixology tasting on SEPT. 5 AT 2:00 pm!!!!!!! How does that work for you???? Geez!

Alma is trying to get back with the Magic to straighten this out. It will now be Tuesday before we hear anything. Personally, I can't wait to hear what they are going to say next!!!!! TO BE CONTINUED............






Mixology Update (8/29/14)

Just called Alma from DCL......She said that we have been approved for the three times on Sunday, Sept. 7 (1:00-2:00 pm, 3:00 - 4:00 pm, 5:00 - 6:00 pm) for the mixology tastings, but she is having to wait for the FINAL CONFIRMATION from the beverage division before she can give me final ok. So the three groups on page one of Disboards are as they stand. If you cannot attend during your time slot (Group #1 - 1:00 pm, Group #2 - 3:00 pm, and Group #3 - 5:00 pm), you will need to go to guest services as soon as you get on board the ship to cancel your reservation for the mixology tasting in order not to be charged for it (speak with Andrea at guest services).

When I hear back from Alma this afternoon, I will post immediately that these tastings are a sure thing! Alma said we shouldn't have any problems, BUT you never know! So please don't count this as a done deal until I've hear back from Alma and I let everyone know it's a go!!!

OK....here is the latest on the mixology tasting. I just called Alma with DCL. Originally she had given me dates/times for the tastings as: Sept. 7 @ 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Then she had given me Sept. 11 (which is Tenerife port) at 2:00 pm. I explained to her about Sept. 11 being a port day. She has still not heard back from DCL to confirm those dates/times. She is going to request 2 different schedules and see if they approve either both or one of them. The first schedule would be to see if they will let us have all three classes in one day (there are about 82 people signed up and they really only want about 30 in each event). The hours she is requesting for Sept. 7 would now be: 1:00 - 2:00 pm, 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm, and 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm. The second schedule would be: Sept. 7 @ 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm; Sept. 11 @ 4:00 pm (I know this is port day, but we have to back on board the ship at 4:45 pm so if you are still interested in the class, would just have to come back a little sooner). I know these aren't the most ideal times, but this is all she could come up with to accommodate 3 classes. As soon as I hear anything, I will post it. It bothers me that so many people are leaving early on their way to Barcelona via Paris, Rome, etc. and have no idea what group they are on for the Mixology Tasting. I wish I could give you an exact confirmation, but I'm still waiting to hear from Alma from DCL. I think that I will post the groups and who are in them later on tonight when I get home. At least you will know your group. As soon as I get confirmation from Alma, I will post immediately. As above, Alma put in two requests for 3 groups - one request for 3 tastings in one day, and another request for 2 tastings on one day and one tasting on another day (port day). Basically I used the "first sign up, first assigned to a group" method. If you will not be able to attend your time slot/group, please let me know so I can let someone else in your place or take you off the list before I hand in the list to Alma. I apologize if this doesn't work with your schedule at this late notice, but have to work with what I've got. :) I would at least like to give everyone a chance to see what group they are in and whether or not they can fit that time into their schedule.

Thank you to the ones that graciously pm'd me to say they could be put into Group #3 if need be on port day (Sept. 11). I hope at this late date, we can have a third group!

Mixology Tasting!

UPDATE!!!! Received a message from Alma at DCL and she will be on vacation til the 3rd week in August, so it will be then before everything is finalized. She gave me tentative dates a couple of weeks ago of Sept. 7 at 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm and Sept. 11 at 2:00 pm. She said unless something drastic pops up, those will be our dates/times. Email confirmation received from DCL Special Events. Palo brunch groups approved. You WILL be billed even if a no-show (onboard account) and you will NOT receive an invitation in your stateroom so mark your calendar, iPhone alarm, etc NOW! At least we fall back an hour... don't oversleep!

I re-typed names since the PDF file I received showed room numbers and last names. Each room number separate by a comma and I am using the name on the reservation in case someone needs to get in touch with a late-comer - at least you have the "correct" first name they can search for. No last names shown for privacy purposes below.

If you reserved brunch on your own online for the same day, please please please go delete it now as you are in the PRIVATE ROOM!! :cool1: This reservation below will NOT show up in your online reservations as it is a private event, but I have the PDF of the confirmation of all 8 groups, legal names, and stateroom numbers from DCL. (If you are currently holding a table for 2 the same day as Private Room, delete your table for 2 or move it to a different day if you want a second brunch; can not cancel from private room as you will be billed automatically now) IF I understood her correctly - just have to delete "same day" brunch reservation. If I am mistaken, I am sure DCL will delete any extra brunch reservations as in the past. Just please make sure you are NOT booked at a normal brunch table on the same day as your private reservation below - that will save DCL a step when doing the double-check. We appreciate all the group functions department has done for us on these longer cruises, so let's make sure to all help them out and save that step to delete if needed!

And for those who asked, my favorite fruity adult beverage is anything with malibu and my favorite wine is a sweet red. ;)

I believe they must have cancelled the cruise and not notified event organizers. They are *not* in Group 8 Palo Brunch any longer - final count is twelve as denoted above.

Update July 9:

I spoke with Alma at DCL today. She believes our timeslots are secure for the Private Room Group Brunch dates requested as no other groups submitted. She is awaiting confirmation from the ship. She will email me once that is received and has already input each reservation number (so you are definitely locked in now for the private room - cannot cancel). She has asked that after that confirmation is received, anyone who booked a Palo Brunch online *on the same day* as their group brunch to please cancel it to save her a step. (However... having a brunch you booked on a different day is OKAY in addition to this private group brunch date! Helps those who like to have brunch twice on a 14-nt cruise... if you are wanting to do that online.) But things are looking good for our 8 groups on our 8 days requested!! Not totally confirmed but lights are green. :) BTW - The PRIVATE room brunch will NOT show up in your cruise planner stuff online when logging into your reservation because essentially it is a "private event". The names below are in the spreadsheet along with the confirmation numbers you sent me. (Post #8 in this thread is where I have kept everything updated)

The only snag:
TeamH5 - your confirmation number was showing up as cancelled. I tried emailing but no response yet. Luckily your group still has the minimum 12 required but your confirmation number did not go through for private room brunch Sept 16.


UPDATE June 10: Our contact at DCL has been sent an email. In years past, private groups were confirmed at 30 days prior to embarkation. Please read details below about booking your own brunch and how this acceptance (if approved by DCL for groups in private room) will cancel your original brunch reservatino.

~ I will have everyone re-confirm after PIF (Paid In Full) date to make sure everyone is still onboard since this is so far out.
~ I will request full names, cabin number and reservation numbers at that time before I send in our request. These must be supplied to be formally added to the list I submit to DCL, again, at PIF date.
~ I will submit the request to DCL in June 2014 so we are in the queue although we know they might not look at it until closer to the cruise.
~ Once your name is submitted in June, there are no refunds or changes.
~ We can have a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 14 for each group according to how Palo is now on Magic (assuming drydock won't affect Palo private room sizing). These numbers are fixed by DCL per the private room size - not random numbers I pulled out of the air. 12 is the minimum required by DCL per group booking at Palo, and 14 is the maximum seating. Therefore we can have 12, 13 or 14 individuals per group. Again, these are per Disney guidelines, not mine.
~ I will add guests to the groups on a "first come, first served basis" starting with group #1 - and those will be the dates we request with DCL (not guaranteed). Groups filled in order the PM is received. If you join the cruise at a later date and these are filled up, no, I cannot remove guests already signed up as many on this thread booked this cruise on opening day. This is not a selective group but rather based on people who sent me a PM to sign up. Waitlisters are listed along with date they sent their PM.
~ If for some reason you cancel this cruise, please PM me immediately so I can fill your group as we must have the minimum of 12.
~ Due to the popularity of this event and number of cruisers we anticipate, we will try to fill the groups to 14 to allow a maximum number of cruisers to participate.
~ We should receive confirmation about 2 weeks before we sail with charges made to your onboard account.
~ When you are able to make your own personal Palo reservations, it is encouraged to do so. When your Group reservation is confirmed, DCL will delete your original "on your own" brunch reservation since we can only book one brunch prior to embarkation. Do not rely on this brunch to "make" - be proactive and still schedule your own brunch just in case! There could be other groups making the same request which is why we encourage you to schedule brunch on your own after PIF date - just to be on the safe side. Just because we have groups filled to Disney's capacity does not mean you cannot book your own brunch personally when Disney opens that booking window based on your Castaway status. Again, that is a Disney determination on when those bookings can be made.

Pre-Cruise Hard Rock Cafe Meet 'n Greet


We will meet at the Hard Rock Café on Placa Catalunya the evening before we set sail, starting at 1800. You can meet up for a drink, or dinner, or just say hello to your fellow cruisers. This has been a great night in the past ... a good way to catch up with old friends and meet new ones.

LINKED DINING UPDATE: Geffric has done a great job so far laying the groundwork for those interested in linking for dining, and she invited me to assist with creating a short questionnaire to help us "match" tables according to early/late dining, party size, things in common, etc. Together we came up with a few questions on the following Google document ( see other site) . If you have not yet told geffric who you specifically want to link with, please take a few minutes to answer the short questionnaire and PM your answers to me (WDW Princess 71) no later than June 30. When geffric returns from the EBTA, we will be working together to review the questionnaire responses to try and match tables as best as we can.

Please feel free to post here or PM me with any questions. We look forward to playing "match-maker" and setting up fun tables for everyone!

The thought is to have a section of the each seating, early and late, of the dining room devoted to people that on included in the DIS/FB group and their friends/families/relations. This does mean that the group will all have the same rotation and stay together the entire trip.

Also please note if you are "special" in anyway and need or want the dining staff to make accommodations. For example, I am Celiac and need the dining room and the chef to know this. Also, wdwprincess and I will be posting a questionnaire that will help match people. Please take the time and fill it out and send us the response.

Scrapbook Exchange!!


Scrap booking: the hobby of creating compilations in scrapbook albums, such as keepsakes, pictures, periodical articles, etc

No - we will not be scrap booking. Please note that DCL may offer a scrapbook class and that this class is normally geared to beginners and families although you may want to stop by to check out the free supplies they may offer.

This is a notice for those interested in a SCRAPBOOKING EXCHANGE!!!
Remember:
You don't have to spend a lot of time or money towards this exchange.
The gift can be homemade, already in your scrapbooking inventory, or purchased.

Some ideas include page borders, journaling boxes, photo frames, titles for pages, and small embellishments.
Your gift can have a theme related to something you do on the ship (games, dining, pirating, etc.), our ports-of-call, cruising in general, Disney, or whatever else comes to mind.

Stateroom Tour



Ken (Disdel) is organising a Stateroom tour which will take place on the first Sea Day, time to be confirmed nearer the cruise.

DIS'ers volunteer their stateroom to be viewed during a walking tour, so you can get to see (hopefully) every Category of accommodations on the MAGIC. You can see "how the other half lives" and also see what would or wouldn't work for YOU on future cruises. "I'd be ok in that sideways 11", or "Hey, that Navigator's Verandah is pretty cool" etc...

Logistically, a group of 25-30 is ideal, and those volunteering their rooms for viewing also want to tour, so participants will be given a specific itinerary, and there will probably be more than one itinerary. Hope that all makes sense.
