Cast: Me, The Tramp and my DW of 25 years, Lady
Objective: To celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary with a leisurely vacation in Orlando

Day 4, 12/4: Day 4 started out sunny but still chilly. We headed to the AK for the 8:00 AM opening. When the gates opened, we walked right into the RFC for breakfast. Thanks to tips on The DIS, we had $50 in RFC coupons from a Buick test drive! The Tonga Toast was great as was my DW's Paradise Plate. The Rainforest Ricky juice was also very good. Our first stop in the AK was Camp Minnie - Mickey for pics with Goofy and Pluto. We then headed to the Tree of Life and It's Tough To Be A Bug, and were we glad we did! This show was hilarious and is now one of our favorites. Our next stop was the Kilimanjaro Safari, another favorite. Our safari was excellent with plenty of animals and an entertaining driver. Next, we took the Wildlife Express to the Conservation Station for a leisurely visit. We followed this by talking the walking tour on the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail. After a little shopping we decided to try to find Devine. A CM had informed us that she would be near the Oasis at 12:30 so we walked down and waited. She appeared from an area near the RFC and immediately draped herself over the RFC sign. This is a must see act! She is absolutely amazing. I did get a photo in which you can almost make out her face. Next, we decided to try to find "the Secret Path". We found the yogurt stand (which seems to be more of an ice cream stand), turned right, toward Asia, and started looking. To our surprise, a woman was walking out of a small trail to our left so we tried it. This must have been the "Secret Path": we crossed a creek and enjoyed the 150 foot or so walk off the beaten path! The Kali River Rapids was next. We did this one 2 or 3 times without having to get out of our raft; I got soaked, my DW wore a poncho. The Maharajah Jungle Trek was next with some nice close encounters with several tigers. Before exiting Asia,we stopped at an EMU, I mean turkey leg, stand for a snack. I mentioned to the CM that there's a joke on The DIS about the legs being EMU. She jokingly scolded me and asked if I could please help to stop that rumor! It was all in fun! By the way, a tall white bird perched on top of the stand the whole time we were eating, waiting for a tasy morsel to hit the ground. Is he/she always there?! We took the bus back to CSR to rest up for MVMCP that evening. (Yes, we skipped Dinosaur this trip.) We tried to squeeze in DTD before MVMCP which was a mistake. We ended up at the TTC just before 7:30 and the line for the monorail was very large and growing. When the gate to the monorail opened, it was a mad house scramble to get up the stairs to the platform. We decided to try the ferry and that was probably a wise choice. Once in the MK, we took the advice of many DIS MVMCP veterans and headed straight for Fantasyland. There was no one there. We saw Cinderella's carriage, got our pic taken with no wait, rode Peter Pan, Dumbo and the Carousel with no waits and returned to the carriage in time to see Snow White, Cinderella and several other Disney princesses! We took our time walking through park and did managed to squeeze in BTMRR and the Haunted Mansion before getting hot chocolate and cookies for the 10:00 PM fireworks display. After the fireworks, the DW asked if we could visit some shops and leave, since it was pretty cold and her legs were beginning to give out. We did not see the parade, since we had planned to watch the 2nd one, and we missed the shows, but we still enjoyed the party very much. The snow on Main Street was especially nice. We returned to CSR with visions of MGM Studios dancing in our heads.

I've looked for DeVine both times we've been to AK and never seen her. I guess we'll just have to keep going back until we find her. :D

Was MVMCP very crowded? I've been hearing about large crowds. Would you do it again?

Thanks for sharing your trip with us. :)

We did not think MVMCP was very crowded although it was probably sold out (20,000 tickets, I think). Of course, we did manage to stay away from Main Street when the gates opened; that's where the crowds were! At the AK, we found Devine because my DW asked a CM when and where she would "be performing". We made sure we made it to the Oasis for one the the performances.

Funny about the emu tale. Missed DeVine also. Thanks for posting!
