The Flippant Trip - (new TWILIGHT TR update 11/16/09 bottom of pg 29)

I have to apologize for my penchant for run-on sentances (well, I might as well add bad grammar and spelling, too). If there are any teachers (left) out there who cannot possibly go on, I totally understand. :flower3: I never met a comma I didn't like. ::yes::

Hi,

Loving the report! I repeat what others have said, your daughters are adorable. I'm right there with you on all your memories of the park "magnification..." was one of my absolute favorite rides and I remember EXACTLY how it smelled so your mentioning the smell of the sub ride makes me not feel like the smelling freak.

Could you please explain Ridemax? I'm fairly new to the boards, and you have my interest peaked.

:rotfl2: I've seen a few TRs that are still going on a year later too! I found that once I started mine I just couldn't stop. :confused3 I started on 6/17 and finished the whole thing on 6/25. :rotfl:

Love yours so far! Great pics too!! popcorn::

I couldn't wait another minute! (see previous update :thumbsup2 ).

Thanks so much for reading... I have several that I am reading at the same time so I get confused with who is who sometimes! Then I make comments and can't remember where I made them... and I get so many "alerts" that I can't keep track of anything. :upsidedow But again, thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the new pics :3dglasses

Actually, I think "mischievious" was used, but adorable works, too :lmao: They are good girls despite themselves! :cutie: And thanks for saying so. :goodvibes

There are some moments of the Adventures Thru Inner Space available on youtube and believe it or not there is an entire website http://themightymicroscope.com/ DEDICATED to this ride. However, in order to get the ENTIRE ride through you have to pay somebody.... boy, they know a good thing when they have it, eh?? I wanted to buy it so bad but my husband smacked me with his raised eyebrow look (thanks Wicked Stepmother!) and I backed away from my clicker :scared: LOL

As for being a smell-er, TOTALLY. Smells take me back quicker than anything else. In fact, this is an overshare... but I have my grandma's perfume (Emaraude) in my bathroom cabinet of powders and perfumes and maybe once a year or so .. usually on a holiday.. I open it and instantly cry like a baby... for some reason it feels good.

I TRY to remember to create memories with smells but I'm such a freak about burning candles that I alway forget! I want to bring this one candle with me to the beach (we go to the coast for the weekend quite often with our timeshare) but do I remember??? NOPE! Irritating! Ah well... yes, I love smells. :flower3:

Oops.. I forgot to mention ridemax! Well, it's kind of a very high tech spread sheet. lol You plug in the rides you want to go on (careful to choose your breaks in the day and use the "options" button for more accuracy) and they give you a breakdown on where to go and when! It's only $15 for a 2 week subscription and you can run the program with as many different scenerio's as you like. I used it and loved it on our last DL trip (a year ago) but since then I have learned ALOT and doubt I really needed it. I got it for this trip anyway and realized it doesn't work well for anything passed the first day as there are too many variables. But, I still enjoy fiddling with all the options and for me it's a fun toy and worth the $15.

love the report... I am also invested in ridemax. will see how it works.

Hi! Congratulations on your upcoming first family trip! I really had fun playing with Ridemax (see above post ;) ) I think it's great!

Thanks for reading my report.. it makes me want to get back to it when I have readers cheering me on. :surfweb:

That is probably why I have never tried to do a trip report myself. I am glad it didn't stop you because I am totally enjoying your report. Besides I haven't noticed any run ons, bad spelling or bad grammer yet:)

I'm glad you enjoyed Nemo so much. I think it takes a bad rap from people who either didn't think about how to minimize wait time for it and/or have never forgiven Disney for closing the subs in the first place. It really is a nice attraction and as the brand newness of it wears off, the lines will become much more reasonable and manageable.

:) Don't let that stop you...It's totally overlookable (by most)!

When I looked at your avatar/location I said to myself Poh-cahn-oh.... where are the poh-cah-noh mountains... then the beach boys popped into my head and felt dumb. LOL:rotfl2:

I'm just glad it's up and running again. I think they did a great job with the refurb and I am NOT a huge fan of change (hate it for the most part) so that's saying something.

After Nemo: You know in tomorrow land where that cool 'modern art' sculpture of orbiting planets currently sits and goes off periodically and spins and looks suspiciously like it would have been a really fun ride had it been designed differently. IT WAS. Most people probably already know this, but the Astrogliders USED to be on there. It was up on the second floor of that thing and you had to take an elevator to get to it. It was heck-a dangerous feeling and I loved it! I don't care how hard it was to load the ride. I MISS the elevators something fierce! That really got your ole blood pumping with that open cage outdoor elevator ride to contemplate just what the deuce you were getting yourself into! Then the Santa Ana's would kick in way up there and you would think you were up in space for sure! Talk about your great views! Phenomenal! :-D

Fly girl and the Dad

We started getting hungry and the smell of bacon was pouring out of the Tomorrowland Terrace. We walked up, looked at the prices, spied the food on people’s plates (I love doing that…. I think it embarrasses other people but I don’t care at all if somebody comes right up to me and asks me what I’m eating. I will tell them and give my very honest opinion to help them out…that’s just me) but for some reason we passed on a meal here even though it looked and smelled marvelous. I’m not sure what my reasoning was at the time. I think I wanted lunch … something solid….and there was no lunch to be found. So I figured we could try to hold out… that didn’t work so much. You know what I held out for? A sticky bun on main street that I THOUGHT would be a snack but filled me up so I could no longer eat ANYTHING healthy for many hours. More on that later.

We debated getting a FP for Autopia or SM as we had heard that the Autopia FP were fairly worthless if the lines were short. At this time the lines were not short and we were confused so we just ended up grabbing the sure thing.. A Space Mt FP. We did well on that because the time for our ability to get the next FP was really quick after that... I forget how long but quick.

We had not been to Toontown the day before so we headed in that direction. We walked onto Roger Rabbit and were boarded immediately

Who's drivin' this buggy?
2008-7SoCalDisneylandDAY2009.jpg

I loved Roger Rabbit (the movie) when it first came out. Back then things like and seeing Disney (Donald) with Warner Bros (Daffy) right along with animated smoking babies all in one action packed toon/human movie was SHOCKING! :scared: My kinda shocking ;) I loved that sexy little song that Jessica croons and those laughing hyena's reminded me (a little too much) of my family members when we get together to play cards. EVERYTHING is funny! One of these days...... :lmao: That movie was a classic from the moment it began.

We walked around a little bit but it seemed like some of the things weren't open and the girls are getting too big to care about Minnie's house. We rode Goofy's Barnstormer (a worthwhile, if the lines are short, coaster), took some Toon Town cameo Shots, and left.

On our way to Chico
2008-7SoCalDisneylandDAY2011.jpg

We spent enough time in Toon Town to allow us to grab our FP for Autopia on the way out of the park. We realized that most of the things we had left on our Must Do list were over at DCA so we headed out early.

We stopped to smell the roses on the way...Having the extra day was glorious, indeed.

You are an old soul with a promising future at Disney - now who was tellin' who's future?
2008-7SoCalDisneylandDAY2013.jpg

One of the things I became addicted to while researching the "World" was FOOD PORN! Man... that is really, really addicting. Seriously. Late into the night. Planning food, looking at food, dreaming of food. It taught me to take my camera into restaurants FEARLESSLY and take shots of everything from empty tables to bread and butter. And I started the first day of vacation.. at the airport in Portland inside a nice (but not all that exciting/great) chain restaurant called, Stanfords.

practicin' for my food porn day-biew
2008-7SoCalFlightandWedding001.jpg

I was so excited to be starting my vacation I would have taken pictures of paint drying!

Catfish looking chicken strips
2008-7SoCalFlightandWedding003.jpg

Of course it is now dawning on me that I don't really have anything interesting to say about food and that Oybolshoi (my idol :worship: ) makes food critic-ing look WAY easier than it is!

Veggies... oh my, stop the excitement before I burst
2008-7SoCalFlightandWedding002.jpg

It was actually of interest to note that the veggies that came with the kids meal were yummy asparagus IF ANYBODY WAS EVER GOING TO GO TO STANDFORDS.. which they probably won't but I took the pictures and you're lookin' at them. Sorry. :rolleyes1

Ah vacation...even the pickles are fried
2008-7SoCalFlightandWedding007-1.jpg

Our family only eat fried foods when on vacation. Furthermore, only a vacation that is out of the state. We were so excited, however, that we counted being in the airport as leaving the state... duty free eating at it's best! This burger (I know you don't care but I practiced!) was Okay.. the blue cheese on top was more like salad dressing than the 'crumbles and magic sauce' that I like on my bacon-bleu burger so I didn't care for that. Also, it claimed to have caramelized onions. There is nothing caramelized about onions that crunch in your mouth! These babies were raw in parts.. well, the Food TV junkie in me new better than this and I made sure to leave my 2 cents on the comment card. :snooty: REVIEW DONE!

Back to Main Street...
The Dis food thread :disrocks: is also what prompted me to enter the Main Street Bakery. Not from food porn I had seen about it but from food porn I had seen about it on the WDW boards and hoped to find here at Disneyland. So here was my big chance to get ACTUAL DISNEY FOOD and PORN it up by putting it in it's best light and showcasing it here, in my very own TR! As you may have guessed by that lead in, I forgot. Not one stupid picture. Ridiculous. :headache:

Side note: Before we chose to eat at the bakery I came up with a brilliant idea to help solve the "man that ____ looks good" that inevitably spills out of their mouths as pass EACH AND EVER snack cart ALL DAY LONG popcorn:: I knew we were about to eat JUNK and they weren't in agreement with what they wanted. One DD wanted ice cream the other a baked item. Well, I says to them...... "If you get Ice Cream now, I will get you a churro later. If you get a baked good now, you will get an Ice-cream type treat later BUT NOT BOTH." Hmmm.. boy when you put the decision making in their hands they get frugal, they get contemplative, they don't ask for other things because they know what the rules are and they made the choices and so therefore later they cannot say, MAY I HAVE __________ ??? Nope!!!!!! Remember this morning?? You can chose your afternoon treat of churro or ice cream at ANY GIVEN TIME... one hour from now?? Fine. 6 hours from now.. no problem. But you get ONE more snack and you know what type it will be so stew on it! (wicked I know... XOXO Miss Cammie)

*SIGH* Alright, back to business. Well... I got the sticky bun which I hoped would be carmel-y (I love caramel-y things.. even onions) but instead it had a strange sticky, thready, maple syrup-y substance poured over it. I wasn't impressed. On the upside, the pecans underneath the pan-bun-roll were yummy and plentiful and that made it feel healthy! My poor littlest little decided my sticky bun looked too big and yummy for her not to have a part that action so she switched at the last minute (which you should never do) from a chocolate croissant to the regular cinnamon roll with gooey cream colored stuff on top. She was not impressed. To top it off she saw somebody eating a chocolate croissant next to us and noticed that it was also FILLED with chocolate (the drizzle alone had sold it on first inspection) and was even MORE sad with her lack of confidence in her first choice. :headache: She did not whine... she moved on. The oldest little decided she wanted Ice Cream due to the ice cream parlor we were sitting in. Unfortunately it wasn't open yet.

I sat DH and DDC down with their treats next to the most BEAUTIFUL blue glass/ice looking statue (an elephant maybe?) and said in my own head, "Wow, that's beautiful..I am so going to want a picture of that later. A picture of us having just a moment at Disney enjoying this blue thing and eatin' junk" My camera was right there. Just sitting there. I didn't do it. Lord knows why.

DDB swore she saw a different ice cream parlor earlier on Main Street so I went on a hunt with her. It seemed to me that the Carnation Cafe used to SELL Carnation Ice Cream... but now it's just a sitting place? The piano guy was there and I enjoyed that for a moment but when we entered we realized we were right back into that connected candy store place. :headache:

Well all that hunting made the ice cream gods open the parlor early and DDB was first in line. She got a double scoop in a waffle cone and it was HUGE! The price was reasonable.. maybe $5.... and the value was great. We were all slightly jealous which made thinking about our upcoming ice-cream type treat seem all that much more appealing! It would be cute to have a pic of her having ice cream in front of that pretty blue statue...(I would insert the "d'oh" graphic but I'm full up on pics for this thread. LOL) ah well.

We soldiered on...

We stopped to take a pic in front of the Fire Station.. you know.. for that "Post your pics of delicious Disney Fire Stations" thread. :headache:

Mm......the redness of the truck was complimented by the Unctuousness of the light in the window
2008-7SoCalDisneylandDAY2014.jpg

We were going to go into City Hall to get Birthday buttons (we cannot afford birthday parties in August -girls a year and 5 days apart- so we told the girls THIS would be their birthday present/party.) City Hall was PACKED so we skipped it. Outside, however, we came across the SWEETEST lady...

She was taking autographs and pictures and when we walked up she looked at us and said "You tell everybody else that I've got to go.. you're the last ones, dahlings." And just like that, she made me a villainess! :scared1: How was I supposed to tell some poor slob that I was the only one here gettin a picture and everybody else could go fly a dalmation-fur kite? Well I couldn't so she did and that was that.

Hurry up dah-ling I'm late
2008-7SoCalDisneylandDAY2015-1-1-1.jpg

After this we went through the left side of the tunnel and made our way over to DCA. More to come!

I love the Carnation Cafe. I just discovered it on my last visit and I loved it. Definitely a place I will be returning to. It's a quiet little sit down restaurant that just seems tucked away in the midst of the crowds.

The menu looks yummy, too. I wonder if the "pretzel bread" is anything like the pretzel bread in WDW?

I've never had the pretzel bread, so I don't know. I've been told that the breakfast there is amazing, so I'm thinking of trying it on my next visit.

I was just UP :surfweb: and noticed that I had mentioned our "themed" wedding in this TR. I can tell you for sure that it was a childhood lived at Disney and Knott's that inspired this wedding so I thought I'd share.

We were married in Las Vegas at the Treasure Island casino ON the full sized pirate ship docked out front. There wasn't anybody in the wedding party except our DD's. The dress was a plain $90 prom dress that I bought at David's Bridal for 50% off.

One day I was at work and mentioned to a woman I didn't know that the dress was "ok" not too exciting. She insisted out of the blue for me to come to her house and let her fix it up for me. I did not know this woman from Adam but she pixie dusted me right up :tink: She jazzed up this little number just the way I wanted it! I was afraid of veil's (I thought I was too old) and she gave me these long trains .... one clipped onto each shoulder and splayed out behind me.. very royal looking. The satin lining in the front was added ala Cinderella and the girls.. I love that little upside down "V" look with the old school Disney! My mom and Grandma have passed on so this woman was actually my real life Fairy Godmother! Can you believe that? What a grateful and lucky soul was I. :goodvibes

The ship was outrageously beautiful and it was SO fun! There was a pirate who swooshed down from the crowsnest to bring us our rings. Prior to the wedding we had decided to present the girls with something so that they were part of the ceremony of the family joining together. We found family tree pendants and had all of our birthstones put into the branches so they look like flowers. The pirate: from the crow's nest delieved these along with the rings.

The vessel

View from the ship.. you can see our tiny little guests. The people lined up behind our guests were just onlookers. I felt like I was on Broadway!

The DD's are behind us.. just can't see 'em in this shot! We had about 40 guests and the reception was at a Spainish tapas/paella restaraunt very close by.

I special ordered this original, one of a kind, TiVo grooms cake! DH.. BIG FAN
IM000849-1.jpg

The party was so great! Dis-ers will get a kick out of this... We are squished penny people. My Dear Nusband (long story) got the idea of a personalized squished penny as our party favor. We got online and had found a guy who will mint you your very own squished penny! I can't steal into my room right now to find one and post a pic as DH is asleep  I'll just tell you that it had the "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign (the kitchyiest part of our wedding but definitely needed) with our names and wedding date on it.

Close up
2008-7stupidpics002-1-1.jpg

We propped each penny up on a puffy cloud of off-white satin and placed it into this darling little treasure chest that I found online. I love the pedastal feet. :bride: That's a little golden heart brad that I added for the chest handle. Sorry about the bad pic... it's late!

Oh the invitations were gorgeous, too.. but I won't bore you with that (that's a gutsy understatement placed here in a non- disney, highjacked from my own self, thread!)

But just real quick since they were ADORABLE I'm going to post another shot of the little girls dresses. They were SO awesome... they had a corset style bodice which laced up the back and sides.. and a bustle!

Early on in the shopping phase
DRESSESforlittlegirls004.jpg

Yes, I'm up late.. Yes, I'm an noTORious night owl.... my DD's are outta town until Sunday and I am re-living my teen years as a free to do as I like type until then! (don't judge - hi miss cammie) ;)

Loved loved loved your Vegas wedding interruption! :thumbsup2

Thanks so much for sharing that ... everything looked wonderful, you and your dress were gorgeous, your DH was quite debonnair (did I spell that correctly? :confused3 ), and your daughters really look like little princesses!

And the tivo cake is a riot! We don't even have tivo, but I love the cake! :rotfl:

Loved your updates.....
Thanks for the off topic :lovestruc discussion of your wedding. It looks beautiful. Do you have a picture that shows your pixie dusted dress better? Looks like your fairy godmother did a great job. I love reading about people's weddings so I am glad you decided to include this.
I really want to do a vow renewal at Disney for our 10 year anniversary!!!!!

When is your anniversary coming up? Parties are so fun! We went to a wedding 2 weeks ago, a wedding today, and we have a wedding next week. I didn't get invited to many weddings in my 20's like most girls (I think :confused3 ) but I'm making up for it now! I love them. Love the dress, the food, the ceremony, the dancing.... :cloud9:

I scanned some more pics and will post them soon. We actually just got back from a bachellorette party (there was a naked butt dare that was truely shocking :scared1: and definitely worth the $10 for parking, $10 for cover charge, and $20 for drinks!) Paid for itself that shot!

Thanks SO much for reading and posting. I truely do love to hear from you. :goodvibes

I just read the first page but am enjoying it so far! I love reading about Disneyland as it was my very first park at 9 years old. Ah memories. I found you on one of Goofster's reports so it pays to "advertise"! :lmao:

I'll be back to read more later!!
