Well hello again everyone. ItâÂÂs me, the morning caffeine starved crazy woman.
Today we are going to the Magic Kingdom. I came up with a brilliant (at least I thought so) theory while at WDW. On EE days, I noticed everyone scrambling to get to the bus stops or boat to get to whichever park was having EE. Hmmmmm, why not try and go to an opposite park? Well kids, the theory worked our rather nicely. Since we were not in commando mode, we leisurely made our way to the MK. Each time we went to MK during our stay, we took the boat from WL. What a pleasant way to get around. My map loving, pyrotechnic geek of a DH is also a Coast Guard licensed captain. So now his dream retirement job at Disney World includes driving the transportation boats and setting off all the fireworks. I told him if he played his cards right, he could probably do both at the same time.
Arriving at the MK has always given me goosebumps (which is not an easy thing to do at my age). I always have this terrible urge to hug and kiss everyone I meet. Of course, being the holiday season that it is, MK is twice as magical. I just wish I could decorate my house like Main Street.
We made our way to Fantasyland and immediately walked on ItâÂÂs a Small World. Tim, Holly and Sydney sat behind Chuck, Andrea, and I. As we started in the tunnel of dolls, I looked over at Andrea and what do my wondering eyes behold? A little glistening of tears. My tough, veterinary studying, teenager is my little girl again. Thanks Disney !!! Next, we hop on Peter Pan with no wait. Just love flying over London with Peter. Beats a 747 hands down.
OK, now the real test of my theory, Winnie the Poohâ¦. we walk on, IâÂÂm a hero. We had not been on this ride before and were pleasantly surprised. How cute !!
Now let me explain here that Sydney is a major Little Mermaid fan. She watches the movie over and over and knows all the dialog and all the songs. So just as we got off Winnie, Holly noticed that ArielâÂÂs Grotto was open and Ariel herself was taking visitors. Since there was very little wait, we hopped on line. Holly suggested we not tell Sydney who we are standing in line to see and let it be a surprise. I was afraid when Sydney saw Ariel, I would have to perform baby CPR. Well, when Sydney caught sight of Ariel, the look on her face was worth the millions of $ we were spending on this trip. Her little shoulders started to shake, her eyes welled up with tears, she jumped in ArielâÂÂs arms and hugged her so hard I thought the poor girl was going to lose her strategically placed seashells. Ariel kissed Sydney on the cheek and those lips remained there for the rest of the trip.
Next was Dumbo, Auntie Andrea volunteered to take the SydKid on. Grandma and Grandpa stood on the benches to get the perfect photo. After this, Chuck decides that we should try and get a Fantasmic Dinner Package for tonight (now?). Chuck and I rush to Guest Relations at City Hall and the kids go off on their own, we agree on a meeting place and time. At City Hall we asked the very helpful young lady for a Fantasmic Dinner package for Mama MelroseâÂÂs, âÂÂSorry not availableâÂÂ. How about Brown Derby? âÂÂSorry, not availableâ OK, how about Hollywood and Vine. âÂÂYouâÂÂre in luckâ Yeah !!!!
We head back to WL again for R&R. Something that I insisted we do every day. I used a nap for Sydney as an excuse, but the real reason is that Grandma needed a nap.
We head off to MGM and our PS for Hollywood and Vine. I was not expecting much and was very surprised with this restaurant. For the $$$, I felt this was a very good value. Excellent Grilled Flank Steak and yummy mashed potatoes. Chuck said the Bruschetta was terrific. About this time, AndreaâÂÂs teenage hormones kicked in and said she would like to have the waiter for dessert and we promptly beat her back with embarrassing remarks.
On to our Fantasmic meeting spot. This is the way to go guys. Good dinner, escorted into the theater, and great seats. What a terrific show !!!! Warning: watch wind direction with the water mist screens, could get a little chilly.
Now I know you are all sitting at the edge of your computer stations wondering how Andrea got the nickname âÂÂFastPass Girlâ this trip. Well you see, after we all went to bed, Andrea wanted to spend some teenage time alone and went to the hot tubs. Her big sister later blabbed that during one of these late night trips, Andrea met a young man with here with his family and they agreed to meet again the following night. Andrea had also met a very nice bellhop and told him the same thing. Ever watchful Holly asked what the âÂÂreturn timesâ for these young men were. Hence the âÂÂFastPassâÂÂ.
Speaking of hot tubs, one of the most pleasant things Chuck and I did was to get our coffee (when Roaring Forks FINALLY opened) and went to the hot tubs at sunrise. I does not get any better than watching the sun come up, soaking tired old bones and catching the first geyser (pronounced geezer by Holly) of the day.
Tomorrow Epcot (better known at Liquors around the Lake by Chuck and Linda)
