My Gosh, I could not believe the day had finally come. After a year of planning, conniving, cajoling and saving we were finally on our way to WDW. That is, after beating everyone at work back with a whip and chair. I was later quoted as saying, âÂÂI donâÂÂt care if the refinery is blowing up, IâÂÂm going to Disney World !!!!âÂÂ
The flight from the V.I. was pleasant. When we arrived in Miami, Chuck and I played a lovely game of musical gates with American Airlines. First we were scheduled to depart to Orlando from one gate, then it changed and then changed again. When we met up with the flight crew at the second gate, we stuck to them like glue. Knew they were eventually going to get on a plane to Orlando !
Finally got to MCO 1 hour later than scheduled. Holly, Tim and Sydney were there to meet us (they drove down from West Point, NY). Luckily, AndreaâÂÂs plane from Boston was also 1 hour late and we were all there when she finally arrived. Off to the Wilderness Lodge driver Tim, if you please !!!!!!
We have stayed at WL before during the Christmas season, but I am still thunderstruck when I walk into that lobby. Holy smokes what a sight (smells like holy smoke too!). Check in was a breeze (of course this is 10:30 pm mind you) and we were all so pumped up that we just HAD to have a delicious, cold draft beer at the Territory Lounge. Ahhh yes !!!! Before saying nitey nite, Sydney came down to the Lounge to present Grandma and Grandpa with their Christmas present. She (with help from Mommy and Daddy) made a beautiful candle holder from a piece of their Christmas tree and put SydneyâÂÂs picture on it. I love homemade gifts, donâÂÂt you? Not to be outdone, Andrea then presented her gift of a lovely needlepoint Christmas bell pull that she made.
I had faxed the Room Controller the day before with requests for a bunk bed room for the kids, which they got and we asked for a smoking room on the fifth or sixth floor facing MK. Well, we got a non-smoking room, sixth floor facing the villas. OK, not exactly what I had asked for, but IâÂÂm not picky. I am in WDW for goodness sake !!
Well, off to a well needed nightâÂÂs sleep. Tomorrow is a big day and it starts off with breakfast with Pooh !!!!!
