Day1
We get up on the coldest day of the year, jump in our car and off we go. After a brief stop at Hardees for egg and cheese biscuits, where the lady behind the counter seemed shocked that we wanted our cheese melted, we are on the road again. We traveled down US 19 S. We have found that road less traveled than I-75. Five hours later we see those familiar Mickey ears and know we are almost there.
We arrive at All Star Music. Get in line-one of the slowest of the trip and finally get to the counter where the CM tries very hard to find us a room that was ready. None available in Calypso so we stay in Jazz. The room was nice and clean. We drop off our stuff and head out.
The girls and DH want me to ride Test Trac. I'm not so sure but in a moment of insanity I agree. We go over expecting to use Fast Pass. Suprise-the stand by line was only 20 min. (turned out to be 10) We board our car with my stomach doing back flips and move around to the bottom of the first hill to the belt check. The CM who checked our seat belts says we have a problem and there will be a delay. Now thats just what I want to hear! I made it thru but my poor DH's leg will never be the same. Just before we boarded the lady in the line behind me was scared to death too. Turns out that it was Tink 13 who knew me because of my Dis shirt and pin with my screen name on it. It was very nice to meet her. We were both glad to survive that ride!
Off to Canada for our first ever Beavertail. We shared one and all agreed that they were good. Later that evening we went to the Wilderness Lodge for dinner at Whispering Canyon where Steph and I wound up having to wear straws behind our ears during the whole meal thanks to our waitress Head a Lettuce. At least we didnt have to run around the lobby on a stick horse! After a great meal we went to the lobby for the Dis meet organized by Elisabeth (ead) There were 10 people there. We chatted like old friends and really missed those who couldn't make it. Just a tip, if you are going to be at Wilderness Lodge after 10pm and want to get back to another resort, take your car.
We return to our room very tired after our 1 1/2 hr. bus ride back. Its getting very cold and we notice steam rising from the pool as we pass. We open our door to find a very nice suprise, a huge gift basket from a friend!
Day 2
Last nights sleep was very restless but with the wake up call from Mickey we crawl out of bed and discover that we are at Disney on the coldest Dec 19 in Orlando history. Now we have always wanted to be at Disney and not be hot-but really! The high was around 40 with a wind chill in the thirtys and misty rain. For those of us who live in South GA this is COLD.
We make our way to Magic Kingdom an dalmost walk on every ride. What a change from June! After lunch at Cinderellas Castle the rain begins. The girls decide to go over to MGM while DH and I go back to the room for our big coats and hot chocolate. We met our nephew and his friend at MGM later in the afternoon. He is more of a Disney addict than I am and is also a previous cast member. After dark we go to the Osborne lights--My goodness! It was certainly a sight to see even though they couldnt do the snow that night.
Day3
Its still frezing-temp in the low 30's but no rain. We meet our nephew at 1900 Park Fare for our families first character breakfast ever. We thought it was very good The lobby was amazing, the tree incredible! Next we were off to Downtown Disney for some shopping then we loaded up and headed home.
