Slightly OT: ? on Best Buy Digital Music Store

I'm buying DF an mp3 player for Christmas and I'd like to buy him one of the giftcards from Best Buy - but I'm totally confused! I'm not getting him an mp3 player that is compatible with subscription music, that is, (I think) he actually has to purchase the individual songs to put them on the player. Ok, fine. But I went to buy the cards, and now I see one for like, 2 month membership? which I assume I can't get?? And then like, say, $25 download card, which I think is right, but when I read the description it says "$25 subscription allows you to buy your favorite songs".

So, what the heck do I buy? I don't want to waste my money on the wrong card! Please help!
