I am not going until the 17th but it is also an 8amnoprning (for now) so will be watching how the crowds are. I think your be there by 6:30 is a good idea - I am similar to you in that I would rather be there an hour early than 5 minutes too late

We were there over MLK weekend. HS opened at 7:00 am. Took an Uber from CBR at 6:15 am (we waited for a bus, but decided to go for the Uber after 10 minutes). We arrived at HS at 6:25, you are dropped off right by where the Skyliner exits. We did not take a back-pack so we skipped the security line. At this point, the initial crowds were already entering the park. We were through the tapstiles and standing infront of Frozen sing a long by 6:35 am. At 7:00 am we got boarding group 26. The people behind us, group 17, people right in front of us, group 59. Getting there super early doesn't do anything to increase your chances of a boarding group. I also had been following multiple blogs that the gates were opening before 6:30 am the week before we arrived and that the initial crowds were being let in. So I felt comfortable with leaving CBR at 6:15 am. Also, I was at a resort that was very close to HS. So lots of factors going into my choices. Good luck!

Sigh. We have a FoP FP in 10 minutes. Was hoping it would be time to head back to DHS after that, but maybe not. Ugh, really not wanting to wake up again early tomorrow to try again! :crazy2:

And with that, my galactic adventure comes to an end. I have a conflicting boarding group with Delta Airlines, for which I am already pushing my luck! I have a feeling they will not be issuing any recovery fast passes if I’m late... 😀

Thank you so much everybody for all of the information and updates over the past two months. For those of you still waiting to ride today, or planning to come soon, may the force be with you!
If you have a regular BP and have time, I'd stop at Guest Services to see if they are offering recovery passes. There's a small chance you may be given a ticket to go to a park another time. It's worth asking on a day like today when the ride has been down far more than it has been up.

You just have to have tapped into DHS that morning. Since they open the tapstiles around 45 minutes early you can tap in, then turn around and immediately exit and can be somewhere else trying to get a BG at 7 (or whenever opening is that day).

Also, anyone that has access to you (through their or your MDE account), can try for your BG on your behalf from home as long as you have tapped in. My husband did this for me yesterday and he got the BG when my phone glitched here at DHS.
I thought previous posts said this didn’t work, worked for you?

The key part is that they have tapped into DHS that morning prior to park opening. As long as they've done that, it doesn't matter where they are when they attempt to get a BP.

Someone reported earlier today that she obtained BPs for a friend who was a DHS this morning. She had access to their MDE account and obtained BPs for them from her home.

If you have a guaranteed BG and it's not called today, as I understand it you should get a FP for tomorrow which doesn't require you to be in the park at opening. I don't know whether it's automatic or you have to go to Guest Relations to ask for it.

Alrighty, so after abandoning FOP FastPasses to return to HS to be here in our window, only for the ride to be down, we talked with some front line CMs, got a multi-experience FP for when it opens. For what it’s worth, they seemed pretty confident it would be back today.
Front line CMs for the attraction are pretty frustrated with the attraction themselves.

Boarding groups displayed again. Hopefully this means it's open!

(Does the app only display 'Now Boarding' when the ride is open? Previously it only said the Current Land Status was: Open but didn't display any boarding groups. Don't want to get people's hopes up if I'm incorrect.)

Still stuck on group 45. Been over an hour on 45.
Not sure how much longer we are able to hang out here. We have 68.

I don’t know what I did wrong, what the heck my phone did this morning, but I’m going to have to try again tomorrow. The button wouldn’t turn red, tried on and off WiFi, opening and closing the app, refresh, everything, and ended up with group 93. People I was standing with got 19 and were trying to help, and they were so perplexed as to why mine wouldn’t work. Got notification a little while ago that they won’t get to my group 😫. I guess I’ll be walking back over in the morning *sigh*

Make sure to check your signal--WiFi or cell--while you're waiting for 7 a.m. (if it's 7 tomorrow) to arrive. Find a better place to stand/sit if you need to. Just because the people around you had a good signal doesn't necessarily mean you would. My feeling is that, in general, data is working better than WiFi for this. Also--and this is just my observation from having read 7,812 posts on this thread--when you have a chance this evening, time how long it takes for your MDE app to open. Maybe it's 7 seconds or 10 or 15 seconds. Try it a couple of times, timing it. Let's say it's 10 seconds. So tomorrow, at 6:59:50, open your MDE app. And MTFBWY! Or Baby Yoda!

We got here around 6:20 this morning. Fantastic Lyft driver and we got through bag check and the tapstiles fairly quickly. Opened app exactly at 7, got a boarding group, and realized it was only for one of us. Even though I selected the whole party. Realized it quickly enough to get the rest of my family a BG but later. Guest Experience team fixed it and moved my family with me to group 43. We were finally called back, got in line, and 40+ minutes later were walked out of the line through backstage doors. We have a FP for today or tomorrow. Thankfully we are going to be back here tomorrow (glad I scheduled our DHS days back to back) but my family had really hoped to ride it both days and my 10 year old is not handling all the line standing too well. It’s still down now at 4:45...cross your fingers that they work this out...

Has anyone been issued a return FP for an “open” date or a specific date further in the future? Is it strictly for the following day?
Scenario: I’m at DHS this a Sunday 2/2. If I get a FP, can I ask for it to be for 3/21-3/22 when I’m returning again. I won’t be able to use it 2/3 as I’ll be at work.

Ah yes, I did consider it but the CMs were already looking harried explaining the latest ride down situation so I just bailed. I rode yesterday so missing today not as disappointing. 😀 I really feel for those who may miss their only chance today, hope RotR rallies for a strong finish tonight.

I believe I recall some post about people going to GET and saying they had conflicting plans for the next day and were able to get it moved later in their trip - but that was just a few days, I haven't seen anyone try to get it moved like a month and a half

Here now, and we were waiting for RotR to reopen after the second time we were escorted out.

MDE now shows nothing for boarding now, which seems to be not a great sign. Sigh.
