Question about Amtrak BOS - ORL

We are planning to take Amtrak from Boston to Orlando for our upcoming Disney trip. I have read many posts on here which have been very helpful but my remaining question is....

Since there are 5 of us, myself, DH, DD 15, DD 12, DD 11 - how are our seating arrangements going to work on the NYP - ORL train (silver meteor)? My DH will sit alone or next to a stranger but I do not want my 2 daughters out of eyesight. I know I may be paranoid :scared1: but I didn't know if they will seat us close to each other or if it will be like when we flew on SW and all 5 of us were spread out across the plane.:furious:

Sorry for the rambling.

Any and all suggestions and comments are welcome.:)

They normally seat groups together.... My tip, for what it's worth.... In either the Ny or DC station, when switching trains for the south bound Silver, is to use the station Redcaps.... Amtrak porters...

We switch trains in DC and seek them out and secure one to aid us with our luggage ( we check our rolling duffels) but still have them escort us to our train ( right train and car) long before general boarding begins, we usually get the pick of a whole empty car....all for the price of a tip....

We are seated, settled and comfy long before anyone else has boarded. It's worth it, that long long line of people waiting to board one by one is a miserable experience.....

We are changing trains at NYP going south and WAS going North. I have also seen suggestions on not going to Orlando but to go to Kissimmee. Would you agree? And do you think it is cheaper to hire a transport before hand or just hail a cab? We are staying at Port Orleans.

We alway get off in Kissimmee... Orlando is a nut house.... Others swear by it but we've seen the long long line of people loading in Orlando and baking in the sun till they are on board... after Orlando, Kissimmee is the next stop about 30 minutes more... And is closer to WDW...

Cabs are available, average fare 36-40 bucks plus tip but we use a car service ( can't give the name because its a banned name on this board) but we like them since they provide a 30 minute grocery stop and Publix in Kissimmee has a liquor store next door.... Great savings and car services run 100.-120.00 RT... Most will monitor the trains arrival, since they usually are late....

Boarding in Kissimmee so easy, about 15 people seem to board there than the 100+ in Orlando..

We get off at Orlando and board in Kissimmee.
However..when I purchase my tickets... we do the round trip from Bos-Kis.
If it is not crazy in Orlando we get off and arrive in Disney a little earlier.
If it is not busy when you go... you can usually have a choice of seats.

NY to Boston will be the most difficult train to get seats together.

Thanks for the info. I am most concerned about the nighttime travel. I think I will use your suggestion about the BOS - KIS when I book. I am hoping it isn't busy since our school vacations are usually not the normal weeks.
