Overlap of Dining Plan for split stay

We are planning a split stay in May 2017 and will have 4 days at BC on reservation 1, and 4 days at Poly on reservation 2. We have never used the dining plan before, but we have the regular Dining Plan (1 TS, 1QS, and 2 snacks per person) on both reservations for this trip. I know the dining credits expire at midnight on check out day for the first reservation. But on Day 4, when we will check out of BC and into Poly, do we have double credits to use since Day 4 is on both reservations?

The number of credits is based on nights stayed at the resort. So a 3 night, 4 days stay would get you 3 days worth of credits.

Also, you will have to use all of your BC credits before being able to use any of the credits for your second stay. So if you have 1 QS and some snacks left from BC, you won't be able to charge some TS to the next reservation on switchover day until they're gone.

Wait, so that would mean that one day on any stay would not have meals covered at all? I may have miscalculated then when I was measuring the value of the DDP...

Look at it this way, assuming not a split stay.............on arrival day you have dinner (TS), on departure day you have breakfast or lunch (CS) with a snack credit for something to go to eat on the plane. You wouldn't need a full day of credits in most cases for either day unless you arrive really early or leave the property really late.

The credits are computed per night of stay, and are in a bank to use in any order as soon as you check in. Good until midnight of your check out day IF there are any credits left. You don't have to use a specified amount of credits each day, you are just drawing from your bank of credits during the period they are valid for.

So if you are staying 3 NIGHTS on each reservation, you would have 3 sets of credits times the number of people in the room in your dining credit bank for each reservation.

Remember, for a stay of N nights, you actually have N+1 days in which to use your credits, because you can use the credit on the arrival day (once you check in) and the departure day. So, for a 3 night stay, you have 4 days to use 3 nights' worth of credits.

In the case of the overlap, you have the departure day from stay #1 overlapping with arrival day of stay #2. You aren't getting any extra credits for that "extra" day on stay #1, you just have more time to use your allotted credits before they would expire.

As noted upthread, it appears you have to totally exhaust the first stays credits before you can use the second stay's credits. You will also be unable to combine credits from both stays to dine at a signature restaurant using 1 credit from each of the two packages.

It may actually be best for understanding if you remove the word "overlap" entirely, and always use the word "nights" to describe your hotel stays.

You check in for 3 nights on Sunday. You receive 3TS, 3QS and 6 Snacks for each person on your reservation. You will check out on Wednesday morning, and must use those credits by 11:59PM Wednesday.

You check in for your second stay of 3 nights on Wednesday. You receive 3TS, 3QS and 6 Snacks for each person on your reservation. You cannot access these credits until all credits from your prior stay are exhausted in all categories, or until they expire at midnight. Once you can access these credits, they must be used by Saturday, 11:59PM.

There is no "overlap" of your stay or your dining plan.
