i'm sure most of you are coming over from my pre-TR, but for those of you who are new to this, i'll do a quick overview:

~who~

that would be me and DH. my name is dawn and i'm a 31-year-old court reporter. my DH's name is ray and he's a 36-year-old desktop administrator. here we are at MK last year....one of my favorite shots:

we also have a couple of flat companions.....here they are below. that's flat beana on the left and flat mattica on the right. and let me tell you...... THEY ARE SOME PARTY ANIMALS!

~what~

our 6-year anniversary trip to disney world. our anniversary is actually on april 13th, but we don't do spring break crowds, so we postponed it a couple weeks.

~where~

we stayed at SSR this trip and loved it. renting points from dear DVC friends (thanks, tara!) rocks!!!

~when~
we left on saturday, april 26th and came back home on saturday, may 3rd

~why~

why? um........do we need a reason for disney world????? WHY NOT?!?!?!?! :goodvibes

i will be back later tonight with my first installment. just wanted to go ahead and start this thing! :flower3:

thank you all so much for joining in the fun! nice to see all the familiar faces and welcome to the new ones, too! now......on to the trip!!!!

so as most of you know, i was waiting for DH to wake up on saturday (4/26) so we could pack up the car and leave. he got up around 10:00 and i jumped in the shower, packed the car, kissed my fur-babies goodbye and then we were off! i think we left the house around 11:30. we swung by the mcdonald's near our house to get lunch so we wouldn't have to stop further down the road. i made sure to buckle in mattica and beana. i drove most of the way, but ray did end up taking over in south georgia and he can be a crazy driver!

we had great luck with traffic on the way down. not much at all! of course it was a saturday, so that makes sense. there was some construction in south georgia, but no biggie. we stopped in tifton for gas and a quick pick-me-up at starbucks and ray took over the driving from there.

we passed this sign at exactly 4:02 p.m.! :yay:

we took the highway 429 route to orlando instead of following the florida turnpike all the way to I-4. i love this way - there's no one around and it just seems a lot quicker. the last time i came this way it was around midnight. well, this time it was daylight and you could see the contemporary resort and EE from the highway! although i found it funny that you couldn't see the castle. anyway, that got me really excited! :woohoo:

we arrived in orlando around 7:00 and found the howard johnson we were staying in on that first night with no problem. check-in was a breeze and then we found our room.......right next to 4 bus loads of high school kids!!!!!!! :scared1:

the hotel was okay. very old and dingy. i didn't want to walk on the floor without shoes and i definitely wasn't gonna sleep with the comforter on the bed! :scared:

notice the mickey D's bag? ray got an extra cheeseburger for a late-night snack. :rolleyes:

and of course some pre-disney adult beverages!

we decided to go across the street to joe's crab shack for dinner. mattica and beana were exhausted so they stayed behind to take a nap. they weren't happy about sharing a bed, but they got used to it over the course of the trip! :grouphug:

they had a 45-minute wait at joe's crab shack, so we just walked around the cute little village area they had over there while we waited. i saw the water tower thing and i realized that we were in celebration, florida. isn't this where a good bit of the CMs from WDW live? it seems like i've read that before. anyway, here's a pic of the tower and the area around it. it was a cute little place!

we finally got "buzzed" to come in. our food was pretty good. we just shared a crab dip appetizer, a caesar salad and the east coast feast platter. check out the sign on the door next to our table.....i knew some of you would get a kick out of it! :laughing:

i took a pic of the celebration sign again on our way out - it's pretty there at night!

so we got back to the hotel around 9:30 and they were calling all the high school kids back into the hotel for curfew.....thank goodness! we were ready to get a good night's rest before we headed to WDW tomorrow morning!

well, all was good (as some of you guys know because i posted that night)....FOR AWHILE. we discovered about an hour after laying down to go to bed that we had very noisy and VERY ACTIVE neighbors. it was DISGUSTING!!!!!!! :sad2:

every time i'd fall asleep i'd get woken up a few minutes later by ........ i'll just say noise. yuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

to make a long and really gross story short, ray ended up waking up around 6:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. i had my cell alarm set for 7:20 anyway, so it wasn't that far off. but neither one of us got good sleep. so we decided to make the best of our being awake and get a jump on the day. we were up, showered and ready to go check out by 7:15! we swung by the BK lounge (our name for burger king a la dane cook) for a quick bite of breakfast and we were on our way to SSR and disney world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dance3:

coming up next........our check-in, AK crowds and what do you mean there's a 90-minute wait at EE?????????? :eek:

Eww, nothing worse than "loud" neighbors when you want a good nights sleep!!

I am really excited you started your trip! My hubby is reading this with me and the first thing he said was, "Hey, they got some ML!!" The adult beverage caught his eye! :goodvibes
