Seriously, you guys always have great help and ideas for everyone, including me, so I hope someone can help me with this, too.

I was just sending an email to several friends in hotmail. So I click on 'To' and the list of my contacts appear, and I go down the list and click on who I'm sending it to.

Well I noticed at the bottom of my contact list, there's a name listed that isn't a friend - 'DizzyBabe" HUH??There's no info for it, and clearly its not a friend and i didn't add it. So how did it get there? And I highly doubt anyone's been into my email account!?

Its gotta be some kind of spam but I've never heard of anything like this! Have any of you? And how do I get rid of it? It doesn't appear when I click on my contact list, but only when I start to add names by clicking in the "to" line.

Anyone know how that happened, and how to get rid of it? It just really creeps me out! :scared1::headache:

My e-mail programs keep a record of every address I've ever sent to and suggest those names when I start typing in the "to" box. I don't know how to delete those auto-suggestions, but I don't think it matters either if they are not in your contacts anyway.

I noticed the same thing in my hotmail contacts list the other day. I had a couple of unusual names that I know I didn't add. I'm not sure how to get rid of them either.

My hotmail account was hacked and now I am locked out. I know that last week a lot of people told me that my account was sending out spam. I never thought about checking my contact list. When *and if* I regain access...I need to check that out.

I wish I could tell you exactly what to do. This happened to me a few months ago, only it wasn't quite as polite as "dizzybabe." I want to say that it had something to do with the messenger portion of hotmail. I did some google searches about the problem and found out how to get rid of it. It was really easy once I found the directions. I am not sure if I found the directions on a Microsoft help site or just some random one.

Question Summary

I have question about my Windows Live Hotmail contacts

Additional Details
I now have 3 unknown names on my contact list which showed up all by themselves. I think they are some kind of porn sites and I want them off!!! I have never gone onto any of these 3 sites but since my first name is toni I think they assume I am a male. In fact I did go to block these site to take them off of my spam and they showed up on my contact list instead PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi Guys,

It is a pending Group Network Invitation that is causing the issue. To resolve it, you will need to decline the invitation by going to the Invitations page and click “No, thanks.” You may follow the steps below:

1. Click "Contacts".
2. Click "View invitations".
3. Click on "Groups".
4. Click "No, thanks".

OMG, THANK YOU!!!!! I had NOOOO idea the 'invitations' file was even there!!!! And I had a TON of requests! None of whom I know of course!!?? And as I'm going through deleting them, they look like porn, yikes!! I think I'm gonna close that email!!!

But I don't get what "groups" thing they're talking about? Is it like Facebook? But where are they? Wow, I really had no idea.
THANK YOU AGAIN!

Don't feel bad...I've had my hotmail account for 14 years now and that was the first time something like that had ever happened to me. I think it is part of their instant messaging service. I didn't understand why only one contact popped up but I had a ton of porn looking requests too.

Could "DizzyBabe" be a screenname for someone you know who uses either Windows Messenger or the MSN service?

I just got my account up and running again...and I checked for this too. Listed under J - I have about 45 names that I have no idea what they are. They all start out the same tho: Jakes ----@

I tried to delete them under the contacts/invitations...but there was nothing there. Any other thoughts?

You all should really look into getting gmail accounts! It is SOOOOO much better than hotmail. And you can login to your account on any computer, just like hotmail but with out all of the spam. You can even chat through gmail.

If you think it's a spyware or other cookie that has hacked into your e-mail you can try downloading malwarebytes and running the scan. Anytime I have funky stuff happening with my computer I run this and invariably it's a piece of spyware. Though I've noticed a significantly reduced amount of spyware and stopped having problems with hacking since I stopped using Microsoft Internet Explorer.
