ONE LAST HURRAH | a nov 2015 tr

Congrats on the trip and expecting! In a couple blinks of the eye you'll be trying to figure out where it all went when the little one(s) are suddenly taking you to disney as an adult. Enjoy it!

Not quite expecting yet! :D Just in the realm of trying and wanting to make sure I get my Disney trip! Thanks, though!

I left off being first on Big Thunder! AND we were in the very last car which is definitely the best place to be for that ride. I now see that instead of posting a picture of our train I double posted the picture of Mr. Mayor. So here’s the intended picture:

This morning was to go exactly how all mornings at Disney go when planned by me. Rope Drop, ride all the rides as fast as possible, take it easy and snap the pictures I wanted to take running from ride to ride that morning once it gets busy. After Big Thunder we obviously went to Splash Mountain, because duh! We could have got on almost immediately but we were stuck behind a VERY slow toddler walking through the line. Had it not been an adorable child I might have been irritated. BUT, alas, he was adorable.

Our boat was full except the first row so we had no option. This was unfortunate because I do not enjoy getting wet! My hair would never forgive me for the rest of the day. I found the soundtrack to this ride on Spotify and often listen to all ~10 minutes of it while I work so I was that annoying person singing along :D

I was SO EXCITED to see it all done up for Christmas and although the line was already at 15 minutes, I was thankful because the decorations in the line were hilarious.

I love it when they add in all sorts of extra fun puns instead of just sticking straight to the script. The couple next to us was WAY too cool for the Jingle Cruise, though. Did not laugh once. And this guy was legitimately hilarious. Such a bummer. We called them the “no-fun couple”

[/URL

Next, we followed “no-fun couple” over to Pirates and walked right on. Did not notice anything different after the refurb but oh well. We then did Haunted Mansion and at that point had accomplished everything I was hoping to do by lunch. Success!

We had about an hour to kill before lunch and saw that Space Mountain had a 40 minute wait so we decided we’d ride it. We had covered a lot of ground in a short amount of time so standing still in a line sounded nice

There was an ADORABLE girl behind us in line. Cried the WHOLE time because she was scared. I kept wanting to butt in because the parents didn’t seem to remember much about the ride and weren’t comforting her too convincingly. Finally, they asked me if it went upside down (mom was adamant it did, dad said “no way”) so I informed them that it did not and in fact, it only goes ~35 MPH! During this, we also saw two people get turned away at the 2nd fast pass checkpoint. MUAHAHA take that cheater! They got taken out the back door. Love when cheaters get caught.

I timed it and it turned out to be 35 minutes long. Leaving us plenty of time to get the Starbucks line before our lunch at Tony’s. My sisters-in-law had requested one of each of the Starbucks Disney mugs. I tell you what, the Main Street Starbucks line was the longest line of the trip. Gee whiz. I picked up a mug for myself as well, because dang, those are some cute mugs!

Up next, some more pictures of Main Street and our lunch at Tony’s.

We were starting to get hungry so we headed to lunch. We were still kind of early so we took our time heading down Main Street. Initially I was very worried about how busy Main Street would be, given the parade taping was scheduled that day. Luckily, that day was mostly filming around the castle so we had a clear Main Street. Main Street is my favorite land of all four parks.

Shameless plug for Four Noses (seriously, it’s really good)

We checked in to lunch about 15 minutes early but were seated almost immediately. We were back in the corner next to a family of about 10. 75% of the children were crying and the mom caught me looking at gave this tired smile. It was times like those when we could tell we were ready because instead of thinking “oh my gosh, so glad we don’t have to deal with that” we were like “aww, can’t wait until we have to deal with that”.

Our waitress was over super quick and we both ordered coffee. We were also already ready to order food (I’m overly prepared…). I got spaghetti and meatballs and Casey got the chicken parmesan. Food came out in less than five minutes. Not fresh but we didn’t mind. We come from a place where good Italian food pretty much doesn’t exist. So I’m fine with “Olive Garden” quality that this gets compared to sometimes.

While we were eating, we hear one of the moms at the table next to us go “NOOO THAT’S SALT!” and laughed so hard. She caught it JUST in time. The kid obviously thought it was cheese. It reminded me of that video circulating on Facebook of the dads that save their children within inches of catastrophe. If you haven’t seen it, find it. It’s hilarious.

We were seated and paid within a half hour. We took that as a bonus because we wanted to be that fast. We didn’t feel hurried at all so if you wanted to sit and take your time, I don’t think it would be a problem. The restaurant wasn’t too full yet.

Up next, a great break, Crew’s Cup Lounge and finally feeling like a real adult on vacation!

Loving your report! Can't wait to hear what's next.. So fun that you are enjoying the little ones around you!

I'd like to try Tony's sometime, but there are just so many places in front of it on the list. Plus, with Judy's restrictions, Italian food doesn't usually make the cut. But a good 'ol spaghetti and meatballs dish would sure hit the spot!

I keep going more for sentimental reasons and I'm not a huge fan of the rest of the MK restaurants. It was the first restaurant I went to on my first trip and lady and the tramp is my favorite. Wouldn't super recommend it but it's not terrible

Thank you! When crying kids at Disney are adorable to you, it's a good sign you're ready lol!

Also, looks like Denver getting pelted with snow while me or a family member is in Disney is a new trend. Sister-in-law's flight home from WDW tonight got canceled haha. Forecast for 1-3 inches and we got 10

I discovered all the glory of afternoon breaks last trip with my mom. Casey didn't get to experience these on our honeymoon and he says the only bad part of that trip was never taking breaks so I planned plenty of breaks this time! Which turned out nice because Casey had a bit of work to do. Payroll was due and that's his responsibility so in anticipation of the hour-ish I would be spending alone, we ran to the hotel store to grab a drink. The bad part about staying at a non-DVC resort was the awful selection of food/drink. I could have spent SIXTEEN dollars on a 6 pack of Miller Lite or six on a Smirnoff Ice. We seriously contemplated buying just a bottle of whiskey for the rest of the trip but we decided we wouldn't drink enough to make it worth it and the last thing I want to do in Disney is feel pressured to drink more just because we had a bottle to finish. Yuck.

I sat and read on the balcony while Casey went to find the business center to get some work done. He also had two new hires he had to do tax stuff for so he needed a fax machine and such.
Our new next door neighbors arrived while I was outside on the balcony and HOLY MOLY were they obnoxious. SO loud and gossipy. I went inside and decided to find Casey. The business center there is located inside the convention center and I could simply not find it. I asked a custodian and he gave me directions but I still couldn't find it. I decided just to enter the front door of the convention center even though it seemed like that wasn't allowed. I could find the side door for the business center! It was huge and completely empty. I clearly did not belong so when an employee saw me he asked me if he could help. YES. TAKE ME TO THE BUSINESS CENTER. I found Casey just as he was wrapping up. Maybe later in life it will annoy me if he has to work on vacations, but this time I was like "we're adults!"

We ran up to the room so he could drop off his laptop and then we decided to try out the Crew's Cup Lounge! It's kind of tucked away in the hallway between Beach and Yacht Club, over by the Yachtsman and it was AMAZING. Completely empty and delicious.
I went with this special Disney release with a couple of rocks

I'm SLIGHTLY picky so this was about two ice cubes too many haha. I either go neat or 2-3 rocks. But either way it was very good. We drink a lot of whiskey but I still couldn't really taste the difference between this and other Knob Creek. Maybe if I had tried them right next to each other!
Casey got the Manhattan and it was AMAZING.

I ended up ordering this the night we ate at Yachtsman it was so good!

We also ordered the parmesan truffle fries and talked to a lady from Michigan about the snow. We both love it but hate when it thwarts our travel! She did seem a little snooty, though. Said she was sick of drinking from plastic cups. Haha. We were in college 4 years ago, not long enough to get sick of plastic cups!

I was taking too long to eat and drink so Casey grabbed a beer.

We had fast passes to get to so we settled our bill and started our walk over to Hollywood Studios. We ended up walking there and back the entire trip other than once when the boat was already there. We realized that it was WAY faster to walk than to wait and take the boat.

Casey was getting really close to the edge to annoy me. So I took a picture? I don't know

Tower of Terror was listed at 30 minutes so we rode instead of wandering aimlessly until our first fast pass

We got stopped before going into the library. SCORE. I love when this happens. It's the only way to get good pictures of the amazing lobby. Easily one of my favorite queues.

we were seated next to this adorable old couple. They had to have been in their 70s. If I'm still going to Disney and riding Tower of Terror in my 70's, I did something right!

Up next: Lots of rides, Osborne Lights and the worst waitress I've ever had.

Hope everyone had a good holiday season! Mine was stressful. They have to renovate our building and in November we were given notice than in the next 2-18 months they would be giving us 30 days notice. TWO TO EIGHTEEN. So I've been anxious pretty much every day since then. Today we finally got notice but they said we could stay in our apartment for 1/4 rent if we want to deal with the construction noise. If we weren't SO CLOSE to getting a home we probably would have just moved apartments, but we can turn a deal like that down! I'm FINALLY able to breathe again, knowing our plans for living. I can start to get excited about my 2 trips to Disney this year (land and world) and possibly a THIRD. So I'm back to being happy about reminiscing.

We left off at Tower of Terror. We had RnRC fastpasses to use next so we killed a bit of time. For the first time ever I looked at the window displays outside the gift shop and they are SO COOL. The time killing this trip was phenomenal.

We started the walk over to RnRC with about 10-15 minutes left to spare.

We took a seat. Needed a rest and had some more time. And then we saw this lady! THOSE ARE JEAN SHORTS. Not a swimming suit. As if that would make this outfit more appropriate. How!

We felt a little bad taking a picture. But she did leave the house like that.

It was FP time so off we went. I love this ride! It's so smooth. I have some neck problems so I appreciate a good smooth coaster.

It was a great ride as usual. We decided to head to Star Tours next. We had a fast pass there later, but the line is usually not too long so we thought we could ride stand by first. We grabbed some drinks on the way
Casey got a beer:

And I got A PUMPKIN SPICE COLADA. No joke.

It was surprisingly great. You'd think they wouldn't go good together but it was interesting enough and not gross. It worked.

By far my favorite part of the trip was the extra time in between stuff. That's what I love about FP+. I'm a schedule person so if I don't schedule it, we don't have free time. I'm nuts

We LOVE the Hatless DHS.

We made it to Star tours! WE LOVE STAR WARS AND THIS RIDE. (Did everyone see the new movie? SO GOOD! Loved it)

REBEL 4 LYFE

Stand by had a bit of a wait. Which was fine because this line is AWESOME. Love Disney World and the fact that I like waiting in lines there. So weird and amazing.

We Hoth which I'm usually happy about. But we ended up getting it almost every ride of the whole trip. Including the FP we used right after this ride. It was dark at this point so that could only mean one thing. Osborne Lights! We headed that way and I cried and took lots of pictures.

This post will basically be picture overload of the lights!

Took a picture of the fake snow to send to Denver. They were getting pounded by a blizzard again. Buahaha

Then they started to DANCE. To the one song I really wanted to see. "What's This?" from Nightmare Before Christmas.

We ran over to Tower of Terror to use a FP which is AWESOME in the dark.

Then we had a bit of time to kill before our dinner reservation. So we went to look at the theatre all lit up for night time.

We got to 50's Prime Time and it was a ZOO. We checked in about 10 minutes early. Anticipating a bit of a wait. We eventually found a seat as the lobby started to clear out. Then a VERY tired family walked in and the two children were fighting over a chair so we gave them the couch. The mom was insistent that we stay seated but their little legs were so tired we gave it to them anyways. Just one of those things where you know you're ready. A couple years ago I was put off of the thought of having children because of the sacrifices. like letting them sit when there is only one chair! We don't mind so much any more.

We finally got seated and I was excited i love this restaurant.

Our waitress was non-existent from the start. Took forever. And all the other waiters were hustling around. She came out of no where and took our drink orders.
She didn't apologize for the wait and she was RUDE. Not in the fun 50s way but just bad. Didn't try to play along at all.But also didn't smile once and was so bad.

Casey got a beer (surprise!)
We alos got onion rings. This all took about 15-20 minutes. Not kidding. We saw everyone busting their butts around us, but she was no where to be found. We are lenient with servers when it's noticeably busy but every other server and bus-boy was hustling and she was just plain no where.
I was so frazzled by here I forgot to take a picture of the chicken. But she comes over before we get our food and says "just so you know, I put your order in wrong so when the meatloaf gets here, just send it away". Umm no? Cancel the order. My husband has worked in restaurants for years and thought this was so odd. It shouldn't be my responsibility to rectify your mistake. We thought maybe she has been in trouble for too many mistakes in the past and would rather have us have to deal with it that fix it herself and get in trouble? I don't know. It was strange.
We split the chicken so we decided to order an extra side of corn on the Cobb. NO JOKE. That corn cost FOUR DOLLARS. I could buy 4 cobs of corn for a dollar at the grocery store. And a half cob was $4 here. NUTS. We finished our food and proceeded to wait forever for our check. And we tipped 5%. We are baseline 20% people. As I said, my husband has had tip based jobs for a while now. And we have never once tipped less than 15-18. Usually 20. We're not very picky but that's how bad she was. Of course, there's always the point of "does she know she was bad or does she think we're just cheap". But honestly, I probably would have preferred getting up and serving myself at that point. We both decided that although we enjoy the food, we're kind of done there. There are better options and it is just SO hectic in there even when you do get good service. At least the fried food was delicious.

We started to head back to Yacht Club. We intended on taking the boat because we were TIRED.

But the line was crazy long and the boat goes so slow and it was no where in sight. So we decided on a walk. The walk back went so much faster than the walk there. And we were soon in bed.
Next is Animal Kingdom and our favorite meal of the trip!

No time for an actual update but I thought I'd share a quick picture of the dog we got the day after we got home from this trip! His name is Porter and we love him. His story will come later in the TR.

Just found your TR and I'm enjoying it! We also went in Nov. but over Thanksgiving, and stayed at BW for the 4th time. Glad you enjoyed YC! Our stay at BW this time wasn't stellar but we love being in the Epcot resort area.
It was also the 1st time we got to do the Jingle Cruise and I loved it!! Everything about it from the added holiday touches in the line & the ride itself, and I actually thought the Skipper's jokes were funnier than the normal ones, but maybe that's b/c it wasn't the 50th time I'd heard them lol.
I think it's funny that you took a picture of almost -no-denim-shorts lady :duck:Every time I'm there I see MANY people I'd love to take a picture of, so when I get home I can show my friends and go, "what the.......?????"
Look forward to reading more :)

Just had to pop in and say GO BRONCOS!
Having computer issues but I will get back to updates soon!

Thanks for reading! Was it less than stellar because of the Boardwalk for some reason? I've always wanted to stay there! Looks like a lot of fun. And Jingle Cruise is so fun. Especially if you love Christmas! We've found that our last couple skippers have added a ton of their own jokes so it's been different every time lately. We did end up with one that was 100% to the script at the end, though. Not as fun!
Haha "almost-no-denim-shorts-lady" I like it. Just so inappropriate! Can't believe it.

I have commandeered my husband's laptop for the day so I'm going to update the crap out of this TR before I have to give it back and can't update!
It was time for our 2nd full Disney Day and it happened to be AM magic hours at Animal Kingdom. We usually avoid AM EMH because of crowds and waking up early but I really liked the idea of doing Animal Kingdom this day and after the magic hours were added it didn't really make sense to switch it up. So we braved the crowds!
We were woken at 5AM by our incredibly loud and rude next door neighbors. But it wasn't a "wake up at 5AM, get ready and leave" thing. It was a "wake up at 5AM and be loud and annoying for no reason until it's time for your alarm to go off and we'll STILL be in there being loud when you leave as if there were no point to waking up at 5AM". AGH. This was our lives the next couple days. The worst.
After unceremoniously being woken up too early, we grumpily made our way to the bus stop. We skipped breakfast deciding we would get something to eat after EMH. I didn't feel like we were excessively early but there was only one other family there and none at the Beach Club stop. I always take that as a good sign!

We arrived at the turnstiles about 40 minutes before the park was slated to open and we were 2nd in line. And we were READY TO TRUCK to Everest. All of the turnstile employees were the kind that you can tell LOVE working for Disney. They were a ton of fun and helped the time go by fast. They let us in about 5 minutes early and we went right.
I must have been really tired and not wearing good shoes because I was going slower even than normal. (it's the short legs). We were soon being passed by an elderly couple and then I realized I should probably pick up the pace. Lol

We caught up to the cute old people and they were directly in front of us in line at Everest. They had anniversary buttons on.. FIFTYNINE YEARS! So adorable. My goal in life was standing right there haha.

The line moved so fast I didn't get too many good pictures. Which is a shame because that is the best line at Disney World.

We walked on to it THREE times in a row. We decided our favorite place is the very back. So much fun! And an entirely different stomach feeling than the middle or the front. We could have easily kept riding without a line but decided we should get to the other headliners before the park opened to the rest of the world. We jogged over to Dinosaur and took zero pictures (sorry). I kept my eyes open the WHOLE time and was only a little (jk super) terrified the entire time! We debated riding it again since we didn't have a FP for it but decided once a trip is enough for us. THe last thin gon our EMH itinerary was the Safari and we made with about 10 minutes to spare. Walked on and had a pretty good safari! AKA we saw lions finally

After the Safari, the park was officially opened and we decided it was time for breakfast. Especially since it was totally starting to get crowded. We grabbed some coffee and pastries and sat in that weird little table area in Africa.

It was a pretty typical breakfast. Nothing special but it hit the spot.

Unfortunately, between starting this post and right now, my husband called and needs his lap top back. So this is it for now. Next is a very low key afternoon at Animal Kingdom since we did everything in the first hour haha!
