OMG! Police chase right outside my community; 2 officers shot.

I absolutely hate where I live. My community leads out to a large road. It's only 2 lanes plus the turn lane, but it is heavily traveled. They've shut it down because some idiot decided to lead the state troopers on a chase. Details are kinda fuzzy, but we do know 2 state troopers were shot, 1 is either unconscious or dead. Other rumors are the driver held/is holding his son as hostage, that two-three other people were also shot, and that the shooter has been killed. Oh yeah, and this chase started about 45 minutes south of here.

State Police are on the scene in (my town) after a chase that led police from the (where it started, 45 minutes south) area to (my town). We've had scanner reports of two people shot. Helicopters and ambulances have been called to the scene. Numerous police cars are on scene.

Police have closed off Route (ABC at XYZ) to all traffic. We have a reporter and photographers on scene and will update as the situation unfolds.

This might not be a big deal to some, but for me it is. We don't have this stuff here, just drug busts, rapes, robberies, and the rare murder.

That is really sad. People have no regards for life these days.

we usually don't have any crime and if we do it is petty (robbery, tagging, and so on) but recently we had a 5 person murder/suicide of a family. it really shook up the city.

wow that is nothing to where my mom works there was a pregnant lady murdered recently and 6 other killings/stabbings in the past 4 months

We had something very simular happen here a few weeks ago.

My dad is a member of RACES ( *insert city here* Amachure Civil Emergency Services) and at the head of it all is my dad's friend. And his friend also volunteers up at the fire station, so his radio thing is programed with the fire station and police people. WELL! When he went on vacation with his wife, he gave the radio to my dad and put him in charge while he was gone. And then! One day, we heard on the radio that the police were ON FOOT chasing down this guy with sniffer dogs. And they were looking for him not too far from where I live.

It was wierd. I had never heard of anything like that happening here before.

Okay.

1 officer shot and dead , the other was shot and is recovering. The man who led the police on the 40 mile chase was shot and prounounced dead on the scene. He kidnapped his 10 year old son because of a custoday battle. 10 year old was not shot but will be likely in therapy for the rest of his life.

What a sad case.
