Please help me out, I've searched the Internet and can't find bloggers or websites about resorts with condos or very safe neighborhoods for home rentals. I've been to the bigger rental sites to look at the rental homes and condos available but it's so hard to know if they are in a safe area. I've read mixed reviews on the safety surrounding Disney. We want to stay within 2 miles of DLR. Any specific neighborhoods recommendations and/or condos/resorts would be great!! I've read alot of reviews on specific homes and condos. but I trust them nothing like the DIS community!! :goodvibes TIA

We stay at the Worldmark.. it is a timeshare, on Katella. and also at the Dolphins Cove on Harbor and Orangewood.. and both places are really good.. I believe Dolphins Cove is Timeshare AND hotel.. we had no problems in either neighbor hood . the areas around Disneyland are safe. but like any place you need to be careful and alert.. Most people who are around the Disneyland areas are visitors to the Parks or staff..
Don't know of any house rentals ,

Many of the hotels along Habor Blvd are close to the parks and within a walking distance.. and these areas are pretty safe.

:thumbsup2 Do you know much about the area by the convention center, I believe that is close to Dolphins Cove? I was looking at a townhome community just south of the convention center?

Thank you SO much, I've been using this in my search for houses, it's a great tool!!

I would encourage you to look at your hometown on that site, as well. The red/green really is relative. By referencing neighborhoods you are familiar with, you can get a better idea about what they mean, given Anaheim's lower-than-average crime rate.

I stayed in this house last year http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p263821 and it was amazing! Private pool, lots of space, bbq, and walking distance to disney! Its like one or two houses down from the best western hotel thats right on the corner of the intersection going into disney. if you want smaller i believe they have a condo down the street also.

There are quite a few condos available in the development off Walnut opposite Magic Way. Going by the map that ehrawn posted, it seems like a pretty good area (that's a great map by the way, wish we had something like that in Australia!).

We are staying in this condo development. It's directly across from Magic Way - they say about a 5 minute or less walk to the tram at the DL parking lot or 15-20 minute walk through Downtown Disney to the maingate. I asked the question a few weeks ago about walking through that area, and got quite a few responses that it's a well-lit, safe area.

You can do a search through vbro.com for rentals in the area. There are a TON of condo options in this development.

I'd love to hear your experience! I've been on vrbo quite a bit but have heard various reports that the walk from this neighborhood is tricky? I'm not sure why/how but I'd love to hear if the roads are maybe buse or there are no walkways? And someone also said the neighborhood is really run down. I don't know if this is the case. But I have looked at a few there and they look really nice on the inside!!!

We've also looked at another townhouse community that has quite a few rentals just south west of the convention center. do you know anything about that area?

Thanks!

It's not that tricky. There is a center median in the street so you need to walk back to Cerritos to get a cross walk. Policing, obviously, in this area is elevated because it is so close to the DLR. Once on the other side of Walnut, you head back up to Magic Way. From there, you can turn left into the Pinocchio Parking Lot and onto a tram, or head right into DTD.

Never being in that area it's hard for me to visualize, but I guess many families make that walk! Just found a townhome right there that I think we will rent! Thanks for your help! :goodvibes

I will do my best to remember to report back on here what the area and walk were like! I highly suggest using google maps to check out the areas. What I did was search for "Disneyland California" then zoom in a bit to the neighborhood I was interested in. Then if you drag the little orange person icon over to the area on the map, it will show you a street view of the area. Then you can use the arrows to go up and down the streets, check out the houses, roads, etc.

I tried to find a condo nearest to the Magic Way intersection because it's a pretty large complex and I wanted the shortest walk possible. Also, as a PP said, there is a median on Walnut Street. There's NO crosswalk on Walnut from Magic Way but you can tell on the median that people just cross there... there's a worn path. I've read that traffic is pretty light on Walnut, so it's easy to cross without a crosswalk. Unlike Harbor Blvd which is really busy!

I did see a few condos at the other development you're talking about, near the convention center. It seemed to be further than I wanted to walk, so I stuck with this one. I don't know anything about it though, other than the location.
