Here is what we ALWAYS do, no matter where we are vacationing. There are coolers for sale at Walmart & SAM'S that have a cooling unit on them (thus making them mini refrig). They are around $60 or $70 and are pretty big too. We pack our with milk, sandwich meat, drinks, etc. When you pay $10 a night, it may be worth buying this type cooler instead. Plus, this comes with an adaptor so you can use it in your car too. And for many more vacations to come.
Second thing we never leave home without, our good ole indoor George Foreman grill. You can make anything on that grill from grilled cheese sandwiches to hotdogs (we even heat BBQ on it too). It helps you stay out of the sandwich burnout mode (throw a little variety into things). We pick and chose when we are eating in WDW (b/c of expense) and don't like to get in our cars to go outside WDW, so this really helps us out.
When we arrive, we just run to the store and stock our cooler/mini refrig, either opt for sandwiches or have a nice little meal and enjoy our vacation. Hope this helps someone else.

I love the idea of taking the George Forman. That is a great idea!!!Thanks April:Pinkbounc

On this trip we are going to take our crock pot. I am going to pre cook spaghetti and then put it in the cooler. I will throw a simple salad together in a ziploc bag and on our first night we will have a nice dinner in our room. I am also taking a toaster oven to make small pizzas and toasted bagel sandwiches for the kids during the week.:smooth:

Now that I think about it, I might just have to bring my grill too, LOL.

Wow, didn't think of any of these appliances!! My big tip is that I brought Easy Mac and some plastic bowls and plastic spoons. We had a microwave in our room. After being at the parks all day, there were two nights we did'nt hardly feel like eating, so we ate some mac and went to bed!
Y'all must drive to take crockpots and stuff---

What's the most domestic appliance anyone has ever taken on a plane?

I avoid domesticity like the plague while I'm traveling:D

We're going on our very first family trip to WDW next summer (will be staying at HIFS). We plan on running to the local grocery store and getting things to stock the fridge with (munchies, milk, OJ, etc). What's nice about HIFS is that the kids eat free (every meal) and they offer a FREE breakfast buffet for every guest. Man, maybe it's just me but I can't imagine "cooking" on my Disney vacation. Trust me, I've been there and done that to save $$$...........when we went to Maine we had a cabin with a kitchenette. But I wanna be waited on when we go to WDW. Because I know that when we return home everything will be "back to normal"..........cooking included!
