I also posted on cruise boards and thought ABD Dis-ers would like to know also. 
In case anyone has been wondering about turnaround time. We applied for 2 childrens' passports Sat, 7/3 at the county store at our local mall, so it was exactly 4 weeks to the day.
Proof of citizenship was sent same day in a separate envelope.
