Hi ChefMickey!
I just found this thread and read it all the way through! Wonderful, wonderful reviews, and happy especially to see your review of the Brown Derby. We have had many, many relaxing, slower paced and delicious meals there, and I'm always stumped by negative reviews.
Congrats on all the changes in your life. I am anxiously awaiting your next report. Can't wait to hear your plans for the upcoming trip!
Thanks for your kind comments and reading through. The Brown Derby is a wonderful, relaxing experience. The place is based on the 2-hour, 2-martini lunch of yesteryear. The lobby is breezy, the dining room, dark and cool, the soup-piping hot, and the gin-ice cold. If you (and the children) with you can appreciate that-you're in for a time. If someone is trying to squeeze their dining dime hard and play beat the clock on a one-park-one day marathon-probably not a good idea. I felt like a movie star while I was there.
My next round of dining plans is now posted as a pre-trip in this section. The Derby is not on the list, not because of the quality of the food or experience-but because GF really wanted to do 50's Primetime the day we are in the Studios (or whatever the place is called these days).
