Here now…DL was a Disaster Today!!

I've heard it said that Mondays can feel like Saturdays a lot of the time. And being that it's a holiday today, it only added to the craziness.
Sorry to hear that it was a bit of a let down!
We're going next Monday, and I'm anxious about how crazy it'll be with it being the actual 100th anniversary of Disney.
Not sure I follow? Saturday is generally less crowded. Monday is always by far and away the worst day of the week.

It might not be popular, but I'll agree with you. I can't speak to lately. Wife and I have been married 21 years. The first 10 years was 7 trips to WDW. The last 10 years have been DL trips (because the $2500 price tag for flying doesn't fit this working-man's budget). It seems like DL has rides breaking down ALL THE TIME! Big Thunder, Matterhorn, Space Mt, Indy, Luigi's, and don't get me started at how often the fireworks show gets cancelled. We did WDW for just 3 days back in '21 and never had a problem with rides being down or shows cancelled, even in heavy rains!

And as far as crowds go, October is always bad at DL. But WDW can absorb those crowds much better. I love DL, but WDW has always been superior in multiple ways. For us, at least.
I just don't understand why WDW gets the lousy rides. Pirates, Buzz, Space Mountain, Test Track, Dino, are all garbage. Their counterparts are far superior in California

I disagree about signage. I think the park map is very straight forward and you can basically keep walking in a giant circle if ever lost (hub/spoke system.) Take 5 minutes to look at park layout before day starts and that's all it takes. I've been to shopping malls far more confusing than Disneyland.

Wow. I never saw any of these signs🙄

Wow. I never saw any of these signs🙄
As I quickly went thru the posts I didn't see anyone ask you directly what kind of signage would have been helpful for you and your crew so you didn't have to rely on the maps?

Maybe something like directional signs you might see in a casino? Placed at various intersection points indicating where the lobby, room towers, conference rooms etc are?

Definitely not trying to poke the bear but wanting to better understand your frustration with DL.

Not poking the bear at all👍 I’m not sure if you ever been to WDW but all the parks have multiple signs pointing which direction attractions and different lands are. Although I still get confused by the layout in AK, the signs are much easier than constantly having to stare at a map to figure out where to head. It just seemed to us, and some others on here, that the signage in DL is lacking.

LOL. I have been to WDW but that was long ago while we were on our honeymoon in 93'.
Annnnd, wasn't really paying attention to much of anything but my lovely bride 😄

I guess the same reason Disneyland Paris version of Pirates, Space Mtn and Haunted Mansion are far superior to DL California...it depends on who/when it was built and the upgrades given.

Ok, I'm not disagreeing at all, but WHY are Mondays so packed? Is it the "3 day weekend" factor and people think it WON'T be as busy, but it totally is because of that? I've done Sunday & Monday many times on trips before and I definitely noticed that it being Monday helped none.

That is a great question! I am looking forward to the responses

Mondays are usually one of the lowest priced single ticket days, so that doesn’t help. But it’s mostly crowds avoiding crowds creating crowds.

We were also at DL on the 9th and I have to say it’s what you make of it. This was our first time going to DL as we spend our time at WDW. We had no choice but to go that week because my kids were on fall break.

The system did let me make a reservation for the Matterhorn first thing in the morning but of course we didn't get to use it. The selection got turned into a multi experience pass and we used it to ride the Haunted Mansion and then secured another regular genie spot right after. That was a win in my book because I was determined to ride it just once since WDW doesn’t do the NBC overlay and we ended up riding it twice without waiting in the regular line.

We managed to make our way over to Indiana shortly after it opened. The posted wait time said 80 minutes but we were on and off and ride in about 40.

At times it did seem very crowded but my kids and I were very good at just rolling with whatever happened. We have no idea when we’ll make it back to the west coast and we didn’t want to spoil it by being pessimistic about everything.

We did also enjoy using the map in the MDE app. We actually thought it was funny when whoever had the phone didn’t realize they had us walking in the wrong direction because we would end up finding something cool to see anyway.

We also went to the OBB on the 12th and had an amazing time. We tried to make it over to the Incredicoaster during the first parade and of course got lost. We ended up walking right into Villain’s Grove with no wait at all and laughed at how we somehow walked right into the queue of The Little Mermaid while somehow thinking we were just on a regular path. We did some trick or treating, went to Carsland, and finally made it back to Pixar Pier so that we could ride the Incredicoaster 4 times throughout the party.

This is the way.

I don't know, the walkways in the back of the park seem to get me, especially at night. Like when I'm heading to WtP and end up at the edge of the galaxy instead. :)
I'll give you that, especially late at night in the dark after a rope drop/close out the park kinda day. It's a good kinda lost though, just turn around and go back :)
