Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

Just found some Frozen tattoos in the dollar bin at Target I guess it's time to do some more magic bands and I think the Mickey bar is perfect for DH!

I never get tired of looking at this thread such a great job everyone:thumbsup2

Just got back from our week-long vacation and I have to say I was SHOCKED at how many undecorated bands I saw!!! I thought everyone was doing this! But you rarely actually see anything other than the little Band-Its or whatever they're called. Just did the temporary tattoos for our family--with a few crystals added to mine. Nothing nearly as fancy as some that I see here! Even with that little bit, I can't tell you how many comments we got on them. All the CMs seemed to love them! It was really kind of cool to have something unique!

Been here since Tuesday and our bands have held up well. The band I did with the mickey confetti I got from the parks works fine with the metal mickey confetti glued over the sensor. I did lose two of the mickey confetti off. I only did one coat of clear polish. Should have done more.

We're going to be taking our first family trip to WDW in November. I had hoped to be able to decorate our magic bands, but I'm wondering if we'll have enough time. We're staying on property, but at Shades of Green, so no magic bands in the mail for us. I had planned on going to Downtown Disney the day we arrive and purchase the bands, but probably won't have time to get started painting/adhearing tattoos until we get the kids down (and there's no guarantee that will happen :crazy2:)

What is the minimum dry time you guys would recommend for the layers? I'll probably be using a clear base coat, acrylic paint, the removable tattoo, and maybe a glittery topcoat with another clear coat or two on top.

I had hoped to get a band or two to practice on, but can't bring myself to pay as much/more for a practice one than I will for the ones we will use!

Thanks in advance for your advice!

We made a few of ours within hours and it was perfectly dry within hours. My friend came over and within a few hours she was done and took it home.

We used nail polish and clear over it. Worked perfectly.

I've finished all but one of our magic bands for our upcoming trip to the happiest place on earth! I was inspired by so many of the awesome posts on this thread! You guys are so talented. I am a pretty good copycat. Anyway, mine is Dumbo, my son is Stitch, my daughter has the Cinderella coach, and the baby girl has the Doc McStuffins friends. Our teenage friend is Olaf. :) My husband painted Dug the Dog from Up. All I have left is to paint Nemo and Dory on the last band for another friend coming along. They were lots of fun to do!

These are excellent. We love Dumbo. We did Dumbo for our DD. The details are excellent in the Up one. Great job!!

Okay I need suggestions. On my DD's magic band on of her tattoos is beginning to peel. I am going to remove it and reapply another one but what is the best way? I right now have it as the tattoo then clear nail polish over it, but as I said it is peeling. We leave in 8 days so I am glad I had her test it out before we got to the parks!

Thanks! :flower3:

Try putting a base coat down first as well :)

Anyone who wants an easy decorating idea, do the duck tape. It's easy and looks awesome. I'd post pics, but can't figure out how. I did all 7 in about an hour and a half.

I'm not artistic at all, so I used temporary tattoos on our bands. I think they turned out pretty well- I can't wait for the kids to see them in a few days!

I wasn't planning on decorating the magic bands, the thought never crossed my mind. Then someone mentioned it and I found this thread! Of course, WDW is using snail mail...and tomorrow is a holiday :P expecting my MB delivery Tuesday!!! Bought DS 2 and DS3 tattoos and base coat. I ordered my Frozen tats from ebay.... I so saw them at Target for $1 a few wks back, but a mama of 3 boys...didn't occur to me to grab some, now paying $2.50 extra( hope my vision turns out :-| ) DS1 tats also from ebay, couldn't find Star Wars at target and party city. Crossing my fingers that they turn out as good as the ones posted here! Thank you all for the tips and design ideas!!!

I just tried decorating a magic band and it doesn't seem to work the way I want.

I want mine to glow in the dark, so I bought some glow in the dark nail polish. One coat doesn't do anything.. unfortunately, when I add more coats, the polish dries cloudy and looks really ugly on the band.

I figured I would try to remove it, but nail polish remover doesn't take off the glow in the dark stuff.

Has anyone found a glow in the dark that dries clear?

(luckily, this is NOT the magic band I will be using in the park.)

Try acetone

This remover's first ingredient is acetone.

I was 'practicing' on an old MB with base coat and acrylic paint. didn't like what I did and tried polish remover.. didn't work either.. so I took a paring knife (like you use to cut up veggies) and scraped it off = carefully.. That worked and didn't scratch the MB.. whew

I have an exacto knife.. and while it works.. it will take me a year and a day to scrape off the glow in the dark crap :)

These are all so awesome!! Never even thought about decorating our bands. Leaving next week, so I think I'm going to buy some tattoos and some glitter polish and try it. I just hope I don't ruin them!!

Pure acetone is a lot stronger than polish with acetone. I wear a lot of glitter polish and the regular remover hardly touches it, but pure acetone gets it right off. You find it by the fake nails section. I can't promise it will work but it's cheap and worth a shot.
