I was wondering what the room would look like with the King/Double roll-in shower. For family of 3! 2 adults and 1 small child. I have always stayed in just the King. Know that my DD is older, she needs her own bed. Where are these rooms located.

We will be staying in the king - double - roll in shower in April. Is there enough room for luggage & the wheel chair?

Could someone talk about this type of room? Give details like do you get the same dresser and TV setup. Do you get a table and chairs? Do they skimp on the closet? I've stayed in the handicap rooms with king bed and I'm having difficulty thinking everything can fit in these rooms. Something has to give.

Can you get a scooter in this type of room?

Thanks in advance for the specifics.

I am also wondering on room specifics we are a family of 4 adults and 1 infant. The website says we are able to book this room. My son will be 18 and is a fulltime wheelchair user. I am trying to visualize how they are able to fit a king/double bed into the rooms that used to be king bed only unless the rooms have been modified since our last visit in Jan. 2011. Thank you in advance for any help.

I am also interested in this type of room at Sports - I have one on hold that i am about to book for my sister's family but I'd really like to see photos to see if it will meet their needs. Anyone have photos of this type room from any of the Values? Thanks!

I am also very curious about these rooms. I just sent an e-mail to our travel agent today asking about them. We are hoping to book one at Pop this week. I will be traveling with my hubby, DD7 who has Asperger's and my mom who has mobility issues. There is no way my mother can share a bed with my daughter and this seems like the perfect solution as she can share the king with us. Anyone have experience with these rooms?

Did anyone ever get an answer? Ihave a room like this booked for Oct. Is it like they used to do for a family of four when you booked a king bedded room?

There are photos and diagrams online...

A scooter or wheelchair will fit inside the room with double beds. It wont go anywhere and will have to be backed out, but it isn't a fire hazard either.

The POP rooms are not larger. I do believe this is an ADA violation since there aren't 4-person wheelchair rooms on property (as of last December when I last stayed there and checked). I didn't know POP had the king/double option now, but I guess that is their response to that violation. The layout is basically the same. Disney does the least amount of effort possible to comply with the ADA, if they comply at all.

Also keep in mind that Disney does not guarantee wheelchair-accessible rooms. We did everything right two winters ago and were told we had a wheelchair accessible room only to discover that they had given our room to somebody else and that there were no more wheelchair accessible rooms on property. They gave us a portable toilet after an hour of pressuring them to do something...anything because their response was to not shower for 10 days and travel 20 minutes to the food court for the bathroom...such is the service at POP!

We've resigned to washcloth bathing and bringing our own portable accessible toilet so that the bathroom door will close (not an option with their portable toilets) because we can't afford two rooms for three adults. It's cramped and definitely not magical, but it is more like being a second-class citizen than the third-class citizen of normal life.

Please feel free to PM me for more information on the room we had at Sports. It exceeded our expectations. We traveled with a mobility scooter and needed the roll-in shower.

Also, you can also call WDW Special Reservations at 407-939-7807 for information specific to your hotel.

Hello Folks, I too have a room booked at CB with king /double roll in shower but can not find pictures and I worry about size and space for a family of four. Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated. This is my first time posting and want to thank everyone out there for sharing.

We have the same room at Pop in three weeks Friday. I will send photos. We had the double double last year. We backed in the scooter so it could be pulled out. Prior to the change when there were only King accessable rooms there would be an attached double double for four.
A grown adult child sharing a king bed it still seems uncomfortable, we'll see.

We are arriving at All Star Music in 75 days( we were hoping for Pop but it did not have a King/double with roll in shower available for the our dates with the free dining pin I received). We have 4 adults and 1 infant but are still unsure of the set up of this room. If someone knows what these rooms are like at the All Star Music could you please private message me and share your info? Thank you in advance!

Talk with someone in special reservations. It's hard to get through. Lots of times you'll get regular reservations and they will put you on hold and talk to the specialist. They can reassure you.

Whats with your negativity toward WDW. If it's so bad why are you on these boards at all??:confused3 They were never in violation of the ADA over 4 person rooms because they made accommodations for that. Then people found out how they were doing that and exploited it and so they came out with the double/double room. WDw goes above and beyond what is required by the ADA. If you want to see a blatant violation of the ADA go to any Holiday Inn. As far as a guarantee on a handicapped room it is required by the ADA. I find it very unlikely that they had no other rooms on property and the story about the portable toilet Smells like what would be in one. The more you write on here about this the lower your credibility goes.

If there was another HC room available that had a wheel-in shower and raised toilet/bars, it was not offered to us when we talked to a manager in person at the resort...even though we were checking-in during the early afternoon. I obviously have no idea if he was lying or not, though I doubt he would have any reason to lie about something like that. Are you telling me that you believe this manager was lying to me? I really don't think that it is anyone's place to make that judgement and accuse someone of lying.

During my multiple conversations with Disney Reservations over the phone, never once has a room at the POP been offered that had a roll-in shower and raised toilet/bars for four people. Again, I don't know the training of the CMs...but this has been my experience which means it can be an experience for others too.

And just because you have had positive experiences regarding ADA accommodations at WDW, it does not mean that everyone else has had similar positive experiences. You and your family have a very limited use of all the ADA and non-ADA accommodations out there. It is important to keep an open mind when reading these boards to know the spectrum of what can happen...to be prepared. And isn't that what doing research on these boards is about...being better prepared for the next trip?

About my comment regarding guaranteeing a HC room...it WASN'T guaranteed when i was there in December of 2012. It was a complete surprise to me because we have never encountered a situation where we had reserved a HC room and not received one. There is no need to question my credibility for stating my personal experiences in factual ways.

And why am I on here if I have had negative experiences? What person dealing with a disability has not had plenty of negative experiences? I am not against Disney. I actually take my family to WDW because it is the most accessible theme park vacation and they want to go. That doesn't make WDW perfect though and I find it prudent to know what I am up against before I go there so as to avoid as many problems as possible.

As to your comments regarding your experiences, I appreciate them. I actually was driven to boards like this when researching if my negative experiences were out of the ordinary and how I could best prepare for future trips. I have learned a lot from other people's comments on their experiences, both good and bad. Do you think people learn better by only knowing positive experiences?

And just to clarify...I do not have any negativity "toward" Disney or WDW. I have had some negative EXPERIENCES. It is an important distinction to note here and throughout life in general. Accommodation for HC people generally lies somewhere in the middle of a spectrum. Businesses tend to be improving over time, but it is because they change their actions...one by one...every day, and not because they suddenly turn good. I actually find that being an informed visitor helps me help CMs to help me and my family better because their training and experiences are understandably limited and I also have mostly clear expectations when I arrive as to the limitations of what they can provide.

How would you know if we have limited use of all the ADA and non-ADA accommodations??

We have traveled extensively all around this country and the world so we know first hand not only how good we have it in the US compared to other countries, but also what variability there is within our own country despite the ADA. We have personally stayed at POP over a dozen times now.

I took your comment as a rant and that is why I replied to it.

Let's just leave it at the fact that we don't agree and drop it from here on out.
