Flights of Passage with no Fast Pass?!

They’ll open pandora around 8:30 for a 9 am day. Be at the park at 7:30 and you'll pretty much walk right on. Avoid morning emh days. The crowd isn’t as bad as it was since Hollywood Studios draws rope drop guests for the new Toy Story Land

I am staying on site!! I think there are 2 EMH mornings while I'm there.

:thumbsup2 Perfect! Take advantage of the EMH. You'll still have a line; this was rope drop...

...and when we got to FOP the Stand By time showed "60 Minutes" but the CM said that's calculated on all the guests coming in the gate. Our wait time was maybe 15-20 minutes and it went so fast I barely had time to take pictures!

Don't get discouraged; it's SO worth the wait! We got to the park around 7:45; gates opened at 8 and went straight to FoP. We explored the shop, went to the restroom, lined up for the Na'vi River Journey (about a 20 minute wait also) and still made it to our first fastpass at the scheduled 9:55 start time. Did the same extra EMH at HS for Toy Story Land. Scheduled opening time was 7; we arrived at 6:20 and guests were already being escorted back to TSL. We rode Slinky Dog 3 times in a row; Alien Saucers once, Toy Story Mania twice and got breakfast at Woody's Lunch Box by 9 AM. :thumbsup2 :tink:

Thanks for all the input. I'm in the World for a week and have 2 EMH mornings and 2 evenings planned in the park. I can do open and close for sure!

When we were there in June we rode it with a fast pass but the 8 year old wanted to ride it again. We went by about 2 hours before closing. The app said the wait was 120 minutes plus. The ride itself said 90 it actually took about 42-45 minutes.

We ended up doing a late night ride last night. We got to the park around 8PM. We had a Navi River fast pass which we took advantage of first. Then went into the FoP standby line at 8:52. Wait time posted was 85 minutes. The whole thing actually took 40 minutes. My son had the same experience last May. He went at 9:00AM (EMH was at 8AM that day). Posted wait time was 120 minutes, it took him 60 minutes. Not sure if this is everyone's experience.

Anyway, if you can, I recommend the night time thing. We are NOT night owls at all but this did work for us.

So, I'm a long-time Disney visitor and I'm dying to try this attraction. I'm planning a last-minute trip mid-August, and of course there are no FPs left for any of the 6 days I'm in Orlando. Will I be able to get on this if I head there straight from Rope drop? Or am I out of luck?

As long as you are willing to be there early you will have no problem riding FoP.

I rope dropped AK last Friday morning. I drove from off site and arrived at the parking lot at 7:30am for a 9am opening. I was headed to FoP so I wanted to be near the front of the crowd. Even though I relaxed on a bench waiting for them to open access to the tapstiles I was pretty near the front of the crowd that gathered at the rope to Pandora. A little after 8:30a, they dropped the rope and walked the crowd into FoP. Being a single rider jumped me couple of cycles ahead and I walked off the ride at 8:57a. I immediately headed to Navi River and walked right on. I was back out in Pandora at 9:08a and headed to my first FP of the day. In addition to Fop and Navi River I did the Safari, Tough to be a Bug, and Dinosaur by 10:45a Being early to rope drop really made a difference.

In June, we arrived 30min before opening, waited at the gates, walked directly to the FOP line and was out of the ride 32 minutes after making it into the line. The posted wait time was 60minutes throughout the entire process.

In late May, actual waits per Touring Plans were as low as 17 minutes during the last half hour of operation.

In early June, waits were a bit longer, but we were able to easily “refresh” for fast passes and never waited in the standby line.

This past Thanksgiving week we didn't get FP's so we were parking at AK by 6:45am for an 8am park opening. They opened FoP only at 7:30(not sure if this is usual or just because it was crazy busy holiday time). We were a party of 8 and just rushed within the crowd to get there as best we could. Walking the queue was the longest part of getting on the ride - by the time we got to where we had to stop and actually "wait,"we only had about 10-15 min. By the time we got off the ride there was already a 2+ hour wait.
