I've searched this boards but can't find and everything about cruising thread. We have never cruised and I'm researching before I book a 2015 Disney cruise. Should I just read all the threads or is there a better way?

Search and look for newbie threads there are many and I am sure hundreds of people have asked the same questions before.

The other thing is the subject is vast so narrow it down and ask the questions that are important to you.

What cruise are you interested in? Which ship? When you plan to cruise? How many people going?

Look at some trip report threads on a cruise you would like that will help.

Many people hear have varied likes and dislikes so form your own opinion from everyone's responses.

A good DCL Travel agent might help you with room, work out how much you want to spend and when and actually it will narrow itself down to a few cruises.

Oh wow, okay. I'll search "newbies." Two adults, a 5yo and 3yo girls. Thinking fantasy for BBB - either April or September. Don't mind pulling kids out of school so we're pretty flexible.

Sorry for the vagueness - I'll do more research and come back :)

No need to say sorry in any way we all started that way, it's a broad subject so you have to narrow it down, a Fantasy is one of four ships, it's one if the two new ones in fact the most recent to come into service.

First thing, work out your budget and how much you can or want to spend and see what rooms it gets you.

Do use a specialist DCL, TA a lot give you on board credits, don't just go for the first you see but google it.

Fantasy is a fine ship I have been on her for 14 days, it normally goes Eastern and Western seven night cruise.

Photos in my blog below.

When choosing a room, it's (1) to your budget, (2) family size and bed needs, then (3) if that hasn't sorted it out think inside room, window view room or verandah, for a seven night if it's inside budget a verandah is great for sea days your own space, away from crowds room service on your deck, views in and out of port.

Look into if you want to go east or west Carribean see what ports you like.

yes there is lots of info its just a case of searching the boards and then you list of related threads, you can through them one by one to get the info your looking for. Thats the way I do it :)

Sept. may be cheaper. If your kids still nap, verandahs are the way to go, if you can afford it. Kids can nap, you can still sit outside, also nice if they go to bed early/or sleep late.

Just as, you cannot "do it all", you cannot "know it all", before cruising either. Main thing... Have needed documents ready when you get to port. The rest, the wonderful staff :worship: will gladly help you figure out.

Your girls will  BBB!! Enjoy your cruise!

I found the book Passporter's Disney Cruise Line and Its Ports of Call to be an invaluable resource before, during and after our first DCL cruise. We're getting ready for cruise #4, and I still refer to it occasionally!

I also highly recommend this book. It covers everything from deck plans, dining, cabin categories, onboard activities, kids clubs, excursions and so much more. We've done 3 DCL cruises and I still refer to it.

Sooo helpful. I was using my phone app and didn't see the stickies so when logged on to a real computer there it all was. Thanks for all the links! I'll be busy reading. Appreciate the support :)
