Easter Week... Help!

We typically only go spring (always before or after Easter in our school district) and we go close to the 4th of July (because of an annual conference at that time every year). We went this year for Easter and the crowds were definitely larger after Easter than before. I'm not sure if that is random (as the bulk of our spring break this year was also after Easter so maybe it was for most people also?) or if crowds are always more after Easter Sunday.

Either way - we had a GREAT trip but ... it's a big but - you really have to temper your expectations and/or be prepared for some very early mornings and heavy crowds. If the kids have many must-do rides and attractions then being there at rope-drop is priceless (or an EMH morning if they have those - only the morning EMH's seem worth it though - not the evening ones). We go often enough that we didn't bother getting up early this trip so I honestly don't know if they had early morning EMH's this year but in the past we did and that is ideal. Once the EMH is over and mid-morning it is usually time to leave that park (EMH draws crowds even when people miss the morning hour!) and go to another park. We usually avoid the park with the evening EMH (unless we hit it at rope drop - pretty much anything worked fine for us at rope drop).

Keep in mind the crowds are thick. Very thick. If you eat lunch at a normal lunch hour at a QS place you'll probably find it hard to get a seat....stuff like that.

With the difference in age of your kids - perhaps split up and let the 13 year old ride on his own or with one parent while the other takes the 5 year old.

I'd say get up early - go to rope drop and do the rides - then have some Fastpasses and do those - and after that - hard to say - either go back to the hotel and relax and swim (is swimming relaxing? not sure cause the pools will be BUSY...lol!). It's also nice to get up in the morning and have a relaxing breakfast at the pool and go swimming - then have fast passes for later in the day and have dinner at the park. Much of it depends on how much riding you and your kids expect to do.

Good luck!
