Post 1: Introduction to Wilderness Lodge Resort:

From WDW:

Escape to the rustic majesty of America’s Great Northwest. Inspired by turn-of-the-century National Park lodges, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge celebrates American craftsmanship and honors the beauty of the untamed wilderness. Soak in the splendor of the great outdoors, from nature trails through pine forests to rocking chairs that overlook a murmuring creek. Inside, discover towering totem poles, headdresses and more, and enjoy the rustic elegance of the stone hearth and roaring fireplace.

Opening on May 28, 1994, Disneys Wilderness Lodge was inspired by the Great American Northwest National Park lodges from the turn of the 20th century. It is an architecturally grand Disney Deluxe Resort honoring American craftsmanship and artistry, and celebrates the majesty of the unspoiled wilderness.

Designed by architect Peter H. Dominick, Jr., who also designed Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Grand Californian, the theme of being in harmony with nature winds through the lodge, inside and out. Authentic décor and genuine artifacts pay homage to ancient Native American cultures and the pioneering spirit of early American explorers.

A 10-foot totem near the Wilderness Lodge Mercantile features some famous animals. Disney character Humphrey Bear stands at the base and supports Donald Duck. Lodge legend has it that rubbing Humphrey Bear's black nose brings good luck.

Dessert and spirits are also served later in the evening. Thank you for the updated new thread. Just booked a nature view room for 2 nights stay before our holiday cruise! I heard it is absolutely stunning during the holiday season! Can’t wait!

Thank you for creating a new thread. We needed one. :)

Folks: Welcome to the new thread. I will keep working on it, but
I think there's enough to open it up. I may need to ask a few questions of the group. (Is there still a jogging trail?)
The jogging trail is still closed. It is overgrown and almost completely taken over by nature. There are many people who hope they bring it back someday. :)

My DH and I are two that keep wishing it would come back. We have contacted Disney in person AND by email on several occasions asking them to bring this back.

If they want to take our resort boat away, it's cheaper to make a trail between WL and FW like before. Look at what they did with the GF walkway to MK. I know why they originally removed it but now they can resurrect it with Reflections shelved for the foreseeable future.

Can you tell this has been a spur in my side?
