Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER RESORT Information & Questions

Can anyone tell me if/what times Scat Cat lounge is open with entertainment? And who is there 10/14/16?
Also, how do I find the October recreation schedule for POFQ?
Thanks

Hi everyone,

My DS 19 and I will be staying in Jan for two nights. He is going to be a part of the college program in Disney, so we thought we would stay on property when we drive in for a couple of nights. We will not be doing the parks and have never stayed at FQ but are really excited to do so.

Any recommendations for a quick stay? Food?

We will have Sunday late afternoon and evening, and then I will have Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Thanks so much!!

As pp mentioned above, it is no longer an honor system - got back Monday and we had to place the mug just right to connect the chip. There were 3 coke machines. There was also coffee and iced tea... there was a hot chocolate machine, but it was often broken during our week there. Overall the temporary food court worked just fine.

This was our first stay at FQ and we really enjoyed it. We flew in on a red-eye, arrived at the resort at 7am and they put us right into a room! So nice. Ordered groceries from Amazon PrimeNOW - bell services called as soon as it arrived (you can tell since I got a text from Amazon that it was delivered and right after got called from bell services!) and they brought it right up to me. Super easy, ended up ordering again mid-trip as we were out of water!

Loved the pool. Loved that the laundry was by the main pool (since there aren't quiet pools) so we could do the pool with slides while waiting for laundry. DH loved all the pokemonGO he caught around the resort, lol.

The bus system worked really really well for us - leaving the resort we only waited once for more than 5 minutes. Returning from MK and AK (post Blizzard Beach) mid-day the wait was about 15 minutes. I do wish they had a better system for busing to Blizzard Beach, but that is not a resort specific problem. The screen showing bus arrival times was very accurate during our stay- wish they had these at the parks to give you an idea of the need to rush to your stop or not!

Our room did not have a hair dryer anywhere to be found - I searched everywhere before unpacking. Turned out my curly hair loves Orlando so it wasn't really needed, so I didn't call.

Gift Shop employees were VERY helpful with exchanging our leftover DP meals into snacks to take home. Super willing to help me get the most out of it, even cheering me on, lol!
Great post!thanks

Me either. I check on on 11/22 and nothing. I was there in August and we did get a letter before that trip.
We rarely eat in the food court, other than a couple of breakfasts so in the end it was of no impact. Breakfast, even early in time to make rope drop, was super quick and easy.
Do you plan to eat a lot of meals in there?

We check in on 11/22, too! (11/22 thru 11/26.) It's just dh and myself. We are driving up from Boca Raton, FL.

We usually eat breakfast in the food court. Maybe a lunch once and probably one dinner.

We stayed at POP Century over Labor Day and they are having pool construction. We did get a letter about that. But, we never saw any sign of construction by the main pool, that we passed every day. Go figure!

Hi all! I booked POFQ for our upcoming February trip with the Disney visa discount that recently came out. I originally booked standard view, but called back the next day and changed to garden view for $20 more- couldn't stand the thought of looking at a parking lot! It is just me and my DD(12) and we have never stayed at or visited the POR/POFQ resorts so we are really excited to check everything out and take the boat to DS! Since the resort is so small, I don't think I'll request a certain building, but was thinking top floor and corner room would be my two requests. Looking forward to reading through this thread and have also been checking out the PO website!
Did you get any kind of discount at POFQ during your stay? I know this resort is usually not included but thought maybe some room discount anyway.

Yes, but it was a pretty measly discount- 10% off at POR/POFQ and only for Sunday through Thursday for my dates:sad2:

Corner Rooms have 2 Windows much nicer

Why not just walk up to a cart around the resort and ask a Housekeeper for what you need?

I haven't seen any in my travels.

Honestly though my requests should be met without having to hunt for mousekeeping.
I don't have the cake people's info, but after being extremely disappointed with several mess-ups during our trip in April, I wrote to this email address:

wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

They called me within a day or so of the letter, and apologized, and actually made an offer of compensation with a free night on our next trip. They handled the situation very well, and were very happy to get my feedback. I would suggest that you send a note to them when you get home (probably can't help right now) if you can't find anyone to talk to while you are there. I know they will call you to talk about it.

Thank Jlundeen I'll be reaching out to them.

I find it's usually pretty hard to try to photograph any building at Port Orleans and NOT see a housekeeping cart! :) Also sometimes there is a language barrier with room staff, and I find written notes often don't work as well as you'd expect.

Also pre-arrival communication (especially by phone) is patchy at best, as you won't get to speak to anyone actually at the resort as all calls are answered by the central WDW switchboard and notes added to your reservation account (well, hopefully). The same applies if you use the 'Front Desk' button on your in-room phone by the way, you won't initially be answered by anyone actually at Port Orleans but by an off-site call center operator.

The best solution is to speak to the housekeeper directly if you can, or someone (ideally a manager) physically at the front desk. And if you're still not happy, escalate it to the head of that department (see http://www.portorleans.org/frenchquarter-info.php)

I always see the housekeeping carts and grab what I need so I don't bother the front desk

We were going to stay at AK for the first time ever not staying at POFQ BUT.... I told My DH I can't do it . I will miss POFQ so we switching back to POFQ as long as food courts opened . We are coming 12/9 so great chance . Yay excited to see no more heads lol. POFQ has the best food court

I always thought those heads were pretty creepy too, but I appreciated the history. Wonder what it will be like once it opens...really looking forward to our trip!

It was asked (and answered) on the previous page. ;) Post #4834.
Thank you. I'm in a couple of resort threads. One resort it seems to be hit and miss on whether there are any and if there are the price seems to fluctuate from $6.99 to $17.99. I couldn't remember seeing it in this thread.

I think I will just buy from the resort then and just not worry about a grocery delivery.

Thanks :)

Well I'll be! I did know that calls went to a central switchboard, but not that the 'front desk' button really isn't the front desk. Thank you. My goal is to learn one thing new every day.....I can go back to bed, now. ;)
