Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT Information & Questions

Exactly how I feel. It looks beautiful and I'm sure the view is amazing but it doesn't look like "Disney" to me. We can switch to POR or POP for the same price so we will probably do one of those. I'm leaning toward the Royal rooms at POR.
We could do the mermaid rooms at AoA too but we want queen beds.

It's just me, dh and our son- who is 12 years old. He loves the theming and everything about Disney World and the more I look at and read about this resort, I don't think it's the right fit for us. The rooms look stunning, beautiful views, nice pool, etc but it looks more geared for adults and conventioners, etc- which is fine but not what we're looking for. I had to stop to go make my ds lunch and have a few errands to ruun, but i'm going to price out our options this afternoon and probably switch tonight.

Since the tower stop is last on the route the buses usually arrive at the stop full (in peak times). I don’t mind standing on the bus but sometimes standing room is full too. This has been the case for most of my morning trips. Last night at the magic kingdom we waited almost an hour for a bus to come. Compared to other resorts- Coronado had the biggest crowd waiting. It seems like they are trying to run the usual routes without taking into consideration the high amount of extra guests from the tower.

Thank you for this update. I desperately want to stay in the tower and I hope they are correcting this. Being there the week before Christmas, with dramatically shorter normal park hours and max crowds. 😟. That’s a no go.

I will not pay for mini vans, and driving or Uber will be awful because of traffic on the roads.

Sorry you are having to put up with this while you are there. I hope you bring it to Disney’s attention and they do more than just blow you off with fast passes. This needs to be corrected ASAP.

Wow I'm shocked! You were so excited to stay here.

I'm still super excited about our stay next May. Bus reviews differ a lot and I hear horror stories from every resort, I have my own from Beach Club. The decor (in my opinion) isn't any less Disney than Yacht/Beach or Boardwalk so for me that's okay.

Have great trips all!

All this is making me double think things ... I have 9 nights in the Casitas (starting the middle of next week), and then 4 nights in the Tower after that. If I get the wrong impression of the tower, I will have to change to another Disney resort. I will be following this very closely. Thanks to all who are posting their experiences.

Yeah I was not too impressed by the buses at the Poly either. Hit or miss...and a few misses were hour long waits.

I'm cool with trying out uber though!

I was very excited about the look and being able to stay at a brand new place. I still think it looks beautiful and I am sure you will have an awesome time on your trip! :) The transportation was always a concern in the back of my mind. I also hear complaints about buses/monorail/etc from all the other resorts too. It's not just the complaints that are being posted now that has me cocerned, but the sheer size of the resort and the internal bus stops- being last on and last off.... The amount of time just waiting for possibly several buses to come through before you can even get on- then at the end of the night - to get back to the resort- having to go through several stops and you just wanting to get back to your room- knowing my husband and son, would make for a super frustrating time.

And if I'm being honest with myself, I would probably love the resort, but the trip isn't just for me; it's for my husband and son as well. When I look at all the photos, reviews, etc- it seems to have more of an adult vibe; which is great!- just not what we're looking for. I think we would be happier at a resort that had more of a family feel. We have only been to WDW twice before- once in 2013 & in 2015. We don't get to come too often and I'm just trying to make the best decision for our family. :)

Have you decided on another resort? If still looking in the moderate range-my whole family loves CBR- not overly Disney, but enough to know where you are and a fun, relaxed vibe for Mom/ Dad or older kids.. AoA is more heavily themed and not as relaxed, but we've enjoyed our stays in the suites there. Both have had good bus service overall. Yacht and Beach are our favorites, but the price is sometimes hard to justify. I'm trying, but the current deal, while good for YC, is more than $200 night higher than CSR

I think you have made a very wise decision for your family. I also have major concerns about the bus looping and wait times. People used to complain about them at OKW back in the day, but we never had major problems. A few hiccups but it was okay. We were not rope droppers. So I have experience with loop resorts with busses.

What does concern me is the busses not picking up frequently enough from the parks themselves. We all want to be “home” quick. For sure. And I personally, am so jazzed about this resort (my kids are 17 now) I will be pissed if I have to spend hours on my vacay waiting on busses. Or standing on every single ride 😡

Our reservation isn’t until the week before Christmas. I’ve got two options and will land on one within the next 30 days. I’ll be stalking boards to see if it gets better.

I so get what you are saying about theming, etc. it’s why I really think you made the right choice for your family. My scenario on theming is important as well but quite different.

We have been to Barcelona several times. The Barcelona lounge is modeled from the Gaudi house there. Gaudi influence is all over that tower and we love it. It’s everywhere. I see it in every turn. Even the food choices. It is spot on. Even benches outside with mosaic tile, blah blah blah. Because of our trips there, and we love that city, I’m so impressed and passionate about this resort. It’s like Barcelona in a can. 😂

And because of this hotel, I researched the movie Destino. I loved it. While watching it, I was even unsure I was “getting it” but at the end I was crying so I guess I got it. 😆. Then I watched the documentary about how it got made. Amazing information in that documentary. Walt and Dali being friends. Etc. kudos to Roy Disney for bringing that to fruition. Otherwise totally lost.

Gran Destino is going nowhere. Visit resorts appropriate to what you as a family are doing. Go there when the kid(s) are older and will appreciate it. Your son is younger. He (they in the future) will find magic and delight/life long memories in whatever you pick.

I promise. 😉

Here now in casitas. Nice enough but a ? Anyone know how to lower the a/c? It’s set at 68 which would be fine at home but when it’s around 100 outside a little cooler would be nice.

I'm still pricing out our options; had a busier evening than anticipated- and WDW site kept giving me the rocket with please do not refresh/almost ready for take-off message and kept freezing up on me. I'm playing arond with the dats right arund our dates- day earlier/later and same with checkout to make sure we see all of our options. Plus have to keep the dates to line up w/ son's school schedule & reasonable airfare too. So far we're leaning towards Beach Club- it's where we stayed last time....but like you said, at close to $200 more per night, it's kind of hard to justify. I do really love the look of the Tower, but I'm really nervous about transporation and that it seems to be geared mostly for adults. I have been searching on here and googling, hoping to find trip reports of some reviews from familes with children that have / are currently staying there to see what their view/take was on the family-friendliness feel of the Tower, but haven't found much yet. Aaahhh....decisions, decisions.....

Wow! How amazing :) You are going to have a fabulous time at the Tower!! It looks like a gorgeous resort! I ust wish I could find some reviews and hear opinions of families w/ kids/tweens that have or are staying at the Tower and see how they felt and what they thought of the resort. The rooms look great and a brand new room to stay in is super exciting!!

Definitely see where you’re coming from but, I guess I’m in the opposite camp. I love the fact that it’s not “All Disney’d Up”. I’m in theme parks all day and eating in themed restaurants. That’s enough for me. No need to sleep on a Mickey shaped pillow. It’s like two vacations! I’ll be at the Magic Kingdom during the day and come back to a Vegas hotel.

Really looking forward to staying there at the end of the month.

I completely see what your saying. The thing is, we actually live in Las Vegas. We could have a staycation here any time we want to. Although, the tower does looks nicer than the casinos here and I think I'd like the Spanish vibe.
I'm also southwest'd out. I'm originally from the Pacific northwest and I miss trees and grass. We opted for POR in a royal room. Give me that Mickey pillow! Lol. We stayed at FQ on our last trip and thought it was beautiful but we couldn't get a discount there so we went with Riverside.
We're also staying at BC for two nights of pool time and Disney Springs before 5 nights at POR so we are getting a nice hotel with less Disney theming at the start of our trip.

We have been here for a week, staying club level in the tower. Have dealt with issues related to power outages and are satisfied with how things were handled for us. What I find interesting is the different experiences people have with the buses. We have had to stand at times, but never had to wait long for a bus. We left MK last night around 10:45. When we got to the bus area, it was packed. But, buses came quickly. Extra buses were parked off to the side and pulled in as the full bus left. We have had both bad bus and monorail luck on previous trips, but so far happy with the buses this trip.

I usually google how to change ac and see what one looks like one I have at the resort. I’ve not stayed t CSR in a few years so I can’t remember what kind they have,

Other option is to walk to lobby and request an override, if you call you get off site center, FYI

We were only in the lobby yesterday for an hour so take this for what it’s worth. Lol. It seemed very family friendly to me. A lot of people were checking in so it was busy. We were sitting off to the side near the elevators so we could see who was coming and going in the Tower rooms. Lots of little kids, babies, teens, couples, etc....It really seemed like any other Disney resort in terms of who was staying there. My kids are 12 and 15. They would definitely feel comfortable in a Tower room. :)

How are you finding club level? We’ve never done it at a Disney property and one of my reservations is for club level. I’m hoping that’s what we will pick. Really, really hoping.

Feel free to elaborate. I’m pretty sure I have watched every Gran Destino club level video on the intewebs. 😂.

How’s the food? We eat everything in my family. How is the vibe? Is the lounge relaxing?

I have to stop reading Facebook posts about CSR.
Soooo many people the last few weeks have been posting about the pixie dust they are receiving in the forms of room upgrades or gifts in the room, etc., that I'm going to be slightly disappointed if we don't get anything in May!
:rotfl:

I'm kidding, it is nice to read those stories.
