We love Disney and can't wait to surprise the kids on Christmas morning!
I think we are leaning towards splitting up for the excursions. I actually do not feel too worried about leaving her on the ship. Both my husband and I work and travel without our kids so there have been times when we have both been unreachable or would take quite sometime to get back to our children in case of emergency. I do think she would be happy in her club for hours too... but we are leaning towards giving them each some special time geared towards their own interests that day rather than leaving her in her club. Thank you for your inputThe posts that pixiehallow's links are an excellent summary. It really comes down to your comfort level and your three year-old's ability to be happy in the club for a few hours.
At Grand Cayman things are further complicated because it is a tender port; this means that you will have to: drop the three year-old off at the club ... wait for a tender ... ride the tender... get to your snorkeling excursion... wait for and ride the tender back to the ship.
Even if you take a DCL excursion, you can't count on the timeframe listed in the description. The shortest DCL excursion that includes snorkeling is "Nautilus Undersea Tour & Reef Snorkel (G07)" which is 2-2.5 hours; but, according to the description, the 2-2.5 hours starts and ends from the pier so realistically, it is probably at least 3-3.5 hours. Also, we once had issues with return transportation on an excursion and ended up back at the ship a couple of hours later than expected.
Personally, I would be wasting money because I don't think I'd be able to enjoy my excursion with a kid back on the ship; but I understand that my worries would be somewhat unrealistic. After all, I leave my son at school every day and sometimes I cannot be contacted at work easily if something goes wrong.
How exciting! You need to record that.We love Disney and can't wait to surprise the kids on Christmas morning!
Everything in San Juan is definitely priced for tourism. We searched on Google Maps and then checked ratings on Trip Advisor. I have also heard a few people suggesting Air BNB, or vacation rentals (I can't remember the company that was suggested for that though, sorry ).We too are planning on staying in San Juan an extra day or two and would love suggestions on reasonable hotels.
We were thinking the same thing. I wanted to see the island though, and none of the excursions seemed to do that except the Duck tours (the amphibious bus that tours around town, and then heads out to the water for a tour of the reef), but the YouTube videos made that seem a bit boring. I think we are going to rent a Jeep and do some exploring on our own. Our back up plan is a beach day. An interesting thing we found out while researching this port is that all beaches on the island are public beaches.Doesn't seem like theses is a lot of time in Grand Canyon, what excursions do you guys suggest, or should this just be a relax beach day since we planned excursions for the other ports?
And your awesome!!!One! I'm official!
Welcome to the group Mareed!I'm glad to be joining on this cruise, as I had it booked then moved it out waiting to find out if I still had a job, and the afternoon after learning that I do in fact still have a job, I rebooked it! A co-worker/friend who also turned out well job-wise is joining me, so we'll be 2 solo ladies.
We are staying one night in San Juan after the cruise and will be staying in Courtyard Isla Verde after doing research. We wanted a beach and many places in Condado area had only 1 bed and were also more expensive. Has anyone else found good places to stay? We don't plan to rent a car and will rely on taxis or Uber, so didn't want to go with an individually owned home/apartment and wanted hotel/resort amenities. This Courtyard looks quite nice, I thought!
