DD keeps asking about safety

DD1 heard about the little boy who drowned at the GF. We're staying at CBR this time and I'm afraid with all of the water features, she's going to be really nervous. Any ideas on how to address this with her? She's 11. TIA!

Can you her something along the lines that Disney is now watching the guests extra carefully when they swim, and are not letting them swim where they shouldn't? I know that is not exactly what happened. But is she aware there was a gator involved, and it wasn't that he just drowned?

Can you go over water safety with her and ensure that she knows what to do. Follow the signed that say KEEP OUT of the rivers and lakes where animal may live. Only swim in the designated pools. Reminder her that life guards are there to help but following the pool rules are the best way to stay safe.

does she know the whole story of how he died or just that he died? now would be the time to go over water safety and following what the signs tell us not just when it goes with what we want

She knows the whole story, so now she's afraid there's gators lurking just waiting to snatch her.

Have you explained the child that was killed was not in a pool? And now Disney has made it impossible (as near as they can) for gators to get into the swimming pools, and that someone is always on watch? Tell her as long as she is in a pool she will be fine. Gators don't like the taste of the pool chemicals. That may be a tiny bit of a fib but she doesn't need to know that.
