Day 2, December 15, 2000 – “Celebrating a Day Late…It’s the Grand Marshall Family!”
Mickey wakes us up for our 8:45am ressie at Cindy’s. We shower, get dressed and it’s WARM! Off we head to MK. We arrive at the TTC and tell them we have 8:45am at Cindy’s and off we go to MK. We get to MK, walk in and WOW the decorations. We head straight to City Hall for the “Today’s my Birthday” badge. Well, the CM’s are really goofing with AAA, telling him there’s a classroom in the back and we can come back and get him later. There was a CM there named Dean (great guy). He says come with me. He then asks us if we’ll be at the park in the afternoon. We say sure we could. He then asks “Would you like to be one of the Grand Marshall Families for today’s parade?” Would we! So he takes our name and where we’re from and tells us to meet him by the wood gate near Splash Mountain. We say goodbye and off we go.

Next stop is Cindy’s for breakfast. Now AAA has the birthday button on and EVERYONE is saying Happy Birthday to him! Fairy Godmother greets us and wishes AAA a HB too. We get called and up we go. I then slip the server a small gift and an invitation from Mickey to AAA for tonight’s MVMCP. Our table is decorated for his birthday. The characters are great all wishing his HB. We've now been served and our server returns with a “gift”. AAA opens the invitation and can’t believe he’s been invited and to dinner at the Liberty Tree. We told him Mickey knows all! Then he starts unrolling the gift. I’ve put Mickey Dollars on crepe paper and made a gift roll also including little army guys in it at the end is Woody. AAA loves this. He’s also been given a birthday certificate. The people at all the tables are coming over to him. It’s wonderful. Breakfast is done time to do MK! Dad goes to find a phone and AAA & I wait by the carousel, well we might as well ride it. Dad finds us on it…walkie-talkies are the best. From there we head to Space Mountain, this is AAA’s first time. I quote “This is awesome! Let’s go again!” Dad’s a little green so we head to Buzz next. Love that ride. We then head over to Liberty Square stopping at the Haunted Mansion, then Splash Mountain and onto to Tom Sawyer’s Island. AAA and Dad have never been on the island. I don’t know who had a better time in the gun turrets, Dad or AAA. We then head to Pecos Bills for lunch. Not bad. I then leave the boys to go buy t-shirts for our parade debut! LOL Frank & AAA go to Pirates of the Carribean. We all meet up near there, go to change our shirts and get frozen lemonade. We head to the gate and wait for Dean. Next thing we know this guy comes up to us and asks if we’re the family from Franklin? He’s the Dad of the other family. Talk about luck, this is their first time at MK and they get asked. Well Dean shows up and escorts us past the gate. Our first test is the train that comes by we are to smile and wave in preparation for our big part. Dean then gives all of us personalized Mickey ears. Next thing we know, we’re on a firetruck with AAA ringing the bell heading toward Main Street. As the parade starts we hear “The Grand Marshalls of today’s parade are The Armenio Family from Franklin, MA and ….from Illinois!” That is the coolest thing. We’re waving and laughing. They stop us 2 or 3 times to take pictures in front of the castle and going down Main Street. We finally reach the end to be greated by another wonderful cast member (a woman and I can’t remember her name). She presented us with a beautiful commemorative certificate that is personalized. AAA is now tired (he had a fever at the beginning of the week). So we head back to the hotel to get ready for the party tonite.

We returned to CS. I went to pick up our CP stuff and the boys went back to the room. After resting at the hotel for awhile. We got ready and headed back for dinner and MVMCP. Now here’s where things went a little wrong. I decided to use the AAA diamond lot, not smart looking back. More on this later. We parked hopped on the monorail and on to MK. We were allowed to enter only after they confirmed our PS. They were emptying the park at this point. Now at check-in I never received my dinner voucher for MVMCP, we were on the Magical Holidays package. No one at CS seemed to know what I was talking about.

So first stop is to see my friends at City Hall. The CM who helped me, Camille, was fantastic. She called CS spoke with the manager and had the whole thing straightened out. It took quite a while but she did it, in the meantime she had another CM call Libery Tree and tell them we would be late. She then gave us Head of the Line passes for our trouble. We did not need them since the lines were so short. Well we headed off to Liberty Tree. Main Street was now lit and was beautiful. We arrived at LTT. What a nice place. While we waited the fireworks started so we sat in the walk and watched them. Now for LTT, we had never eaten there. The décor is so homey it really felt like Christmas. We were seated quickly and again our table was decorated. AAA says “Wow Mickey does know everything!” The waitstaff, characters, etc. were fantastic. The food was very good. We, hubby & I especially loved the salad dressing. Even Anthony ate! The characters then came and sang HB. But the best part was when Chip & Goofy locked Dale in the closet under the stairs. Then Chip & Dale put their aprons on as capes and flew around the restaurant. Now another thing you should know. I had Christmas Light earrings on that blinked. Needless to say I was quite an attraction! Minnie wanted my earrings. After dinner we headed to the Lobby and in about 5 minutes they let us into MVMCP. We did our picture. Headed to Tomorrowland and did the Speedway, Buzz and AAA played some games at the Kidzone. From there we headed over to Splash Mountain and walked around the place. AAA then said he was tired and we headed to Main Street. We saw the parade and AAA fell asleep. Poor thing he missed Santa and the snow.

So now Daddy’s is carrying 51 lbs of boy. We get to the monorail and head to the TTC. This is where the Diamond Lot is a bad idea. You now have to walk to your car. I told Frank to wait with AAA and I would go get the car. Well, after 20 minutes of going in circles I finally get there. Apparently AAA was panicking because Mommy wasn’t coming back. Thank god for walkie-talkies. I finally get to them and pick them up. We get back to the room around 10:45pm off to bed. We’re doing AK in the am.

What a fabulous day! Two special birthday character meals and riding in the firetruck in the parade. AAA must have felt like a superstar. :D

Thanks for sharing your day with us. :)

Two DIS groups were sitting right next to each other and neither knew it! When I read on the Restaurants board that your son had a birthday at LTT just before MVMCP on the 15th, I wondered if that was you -- we were the couple sitting at the table right next to you!

Wasn't that night at LTT great?? That was the 2nd time DH and I have eaten there and had a similar show -- I've been there one other time two years ago and it wasn't as fun, but we sure weren't disappointed this time!!

I had my green ribbon...tied to the tail of my hat which I think at that point was on the chair where you couldn't see it

You mean you were right next to us! How funny! Yes, it was me, hubby & our son. I was the one with the earrings that blinked! You couldn't miss me if you tried! :D

I can't believe we were sitting right next to each other :D And since there were *only* two tables at that corner that had to be y'all :D Especially with those earrings ;)

I did remember that my hat was very conveniently in the locker at that point, though, so my "identifying feature" (including my green ribbon) was rather hard to see :D (What can I say, it was hot that day :( )
