Cigarette Smoke on the Oasis

Not trying to get flamed here...but I will need an inhaler if I encounter minimal cigarette smoke, which is why we have always steered towards Disney. We just read a post from a person who did an eastern on the Allure, and they encountered heavy smoke near the major dining rooms, which wasn't pleasant but not a true health concern. They also made comments that everywhere they went there was a heavy lingering of smoke, theaters etc.

We are booked on her sister ship the Oasis, but now I am seriously doubting this cruise for that reason only. Can anyone who has been on the Oasis with similar health concerns share their experience with us?

Thanks.

We just returned from a week on the Oasis with a special needs child. I, too, am super sensitive to smoke. We had ZERO problems! There was no smell of smoke near our dining room on Deck 4 (The Grande), nor did we smell any on Deck 5 (Silk). We walked through the Casino on the non-smoking side a couple of times and it was totally fine. So bring your inhaler (we brought our daughter's); but we never had to use it. I would caution that the port (left) side of the ship does have little cubbies or cabanas were smokers can gather on the Pool Deck (15/16)? Even though there was a breeze when we were underway, I would steer clear of this area.

The only place I remember smoke on Oasis was in the cigar room (I think it was Oasis not Freedom) I don't remember even the casino being smoky.

This is one of those things that unfortuantly is sometimes dependent on your sailing.

I haven't been on RCCL but I know the two princess cruises I did on the same class ship with the same layout had a vast difference in how close to the casino I smelt smoke.

My assumption is that on the Alaskan many more people wanted to hand out inside and smoke in the casion then on the caribbean where people smoked on decks more.

Thank you very much!

I recently got off the Oasis and the only places where smoke is an issue are the casino (which is easily avoided) and on one side of the pool deck which was an odd place for smoking because it is partially enclosed but apparently it is on only one side so you can avoid it also.

Figure out where the outside smoking section is early and avoid it. My husband takes ages to remember what side it's on and is a big pain when he walks through it. And he's not the sensitive one.

And then avoid the casino. And hope for good weather

Your ship is way bigger but we had lousy weather for a couple days on Vision so all the smokers came into the casino. Ugh. By day 2 the smoke was overtaking the Centrum. But Vision is small and I don't think oasis has a centrum.

Side note!!! Try Celebrity! NO smoking in the casino at all. Smoking is only outside in smoking sections.

And on the opposite side, avoid Holland cruises. Smoking is still allowed on balconies.

On Oasis right now and have only smelled smoke in Casino and on the side of pool deck that allows smoking. However, I met a man in the library who was there because someone was smoking on their balcony near his. Crew was alerted, but they basically told him there was no way they could tell where it was coming from.

So, 2 different answers about smoking if you just asked me and him.

Last week Eastern Oasis on left, port side, as stated pool deck forward lousy. We walked through Casino in the right, starboard side, lousy. We also smelled smoke one time out on the balcony.

We were on Oasis a couple of weeks ago. I smelled smoke three times while on our veranda, once was cigar smoke and it was so bad we had to close our door. Our room had the smell for a good hour. We didn't call anyone because we knew there was mo way to know where it was coming from. The other times were in the morning. We did walk through the casino nice and of course we smelled smoke. It was expected so no complaint. We were just disappointed about the veranda.

We were on Oasis in November and the only place we smelled smoke was in the casino, even on the no smoking side. We don't gamble, but had to pass through a few times. Never smelled anything from our balcony and that would have upset us if we did. Not smoking on balconies is clearly prohibited, but there will always be some who don't care. I would complain if I had to be driven off my balcony by inconsiderate smokers.

We completed our Oasis cruise and wanted to comment now that we have been there. There was a noticeable smoke odor in the entire casino. The Casino is located on the 4th floor and one of it's entry ways is located near the entrance to one of the Dining Rooms (Silk). We were not assigned dining in Silk but went inside during non dining hours to get some photos and noticed some smell of smoke inside the entry. Other than that, we never noticed any elsewhere and we had a balcony over Central Park. We enjoyed the ship and booked another cruise on her while we were onboard.
