Cass, Rob & Kira - UO & Disney Fantasy - Two Old Farts and a Teenager

I'm wondering if the non-connecting ones have a larger closet? :scratchin There's not many of those!

Hmm, so either all the way aft or down those little sideways corridors?:cool:

YT = YouTube ;) :lmao:
That could be! Both times we were in non-connecting!
Not all the way aft. Ok, so I will give up the room numbers, but I hope it doesn't bite me later when I can't book them because all your readers want them now! :rotfl2:. The rooms I always book on deck 7 are 7152 (port) or 7650 (starboard)they are right at the bump out on the aft section and like I said, the kiddies can run the hallway but then they have to slow down right before to make that zig zag, or they go splat right into the wall. LOL They have those rooms on each floor, so you can choose how high or low on the ship you want. The verandas are a bit more private too.

Oh good heavens! I can't believe I couldn't figure out youtube! 😞

Howdy, folks :wave2:

We are back from our latest adventure and I am eager to share it all with you. :goodvibes

The main reason for this trip was to celebrate a milestone birthday. I didn't think I would be able to go anywhere for my 50th but plans changed, the universe aligned perfectly, and I guess it was just meant to be 💫

We spent a few days at Universal Orlando Resort then headed for Port Canaveral for the March 26th, 2022 sailing on the Disney Fantasy.

The laundry's done, the luggage is stored until the next trip, and I finally downloaded and edited enough photos to begin this tale.
putersmile1.gif

PSA: The smileys aren't working right now and you all know I couldn't possibly write an entire trip report without the overuse of these little beauties, so please be patient if you come across some random, weird garble, it's just me using the wrong BB code because I have to write the code out in full
YESSSSS

March 28th, Part 1

I woke up very early this morning. This time it wasn't because someone was jogging above my head but it was definitely from the noise. I don't know what was going on around us but this room ended up being just as noisy as the previous one. The noise was from all around us, our neighbours (on both sides), our neighbour's neighbours, neighbours above us, below us. It was mostly from the verandah deck chairs being dragged on all of the decks, man that is so loud! Also, it seemed like our neighbours never left their verandah. I would say 95% of the time I went out on our verandah, they were out there. Didn't matter what time it was, during dinner, during the shows, early morning, late at night. I swear, they just lived out there. :rotfl2:

Honestly, I'm not sure we made the smart choice by moving or not? :confused3

I ended up having to wear my ear plugs for the rest of the cruise while sleeping and that did help but they hurt my ears, even the silicone ones. Like I said, I'm a light sleeper, it kinda goes with the territory. Thankfully, Rob and Kira slept better.

Oh well, I'm up now, might as well enjoy the beautiful sunrise.

351.jpg

352.jpg

I watched as we pulled into Cozumel.

353.jpg

I knew the Wonder of the Seas would be in Cozumel on the same day, I was hoping it would be next to us but it wasn't. In fact, we had no one next to us the entire day.

354.jpg

Once I went back in, Rob and Kira were awake. There were some cookies leftover from the previous day sitting on the desk and Kira asked me if she could have them. She assumed I would totally say no but instead, I got them for her, grabbed some water out of the fridge for her and said enjoy! Hey, we're on vacation, right? :teeth:

Rob and I headed to Enchanted Garden for a non-cookie breakfast. Ronny had told us the night before that they would be working there so we requested him as our server. We also saw Dean, he was doing what he did best, greeting people at the door. :wave2:

355.jpg

We had our usual...

356.jpg

Rob had French toast instead of the waffle today...

357.jpg

It was super quiet in the Atrium and all over the ship, with most people heading into town. We had no plans to do anything in Cozumel. We had done the things we had wanted to do here during previous visits. I need to avoid the sun as much as I can, so we're pretty boring on cruises. If we visit a new port, I will do my best to plan something fun but we've been to all of these ports so many times and we really hate the constant push to go into their stores.

We were okay having a nice quiet ship all to ourselves. ::yes::

360.jpg

I love how they handle the crowds at Flo's, there's a line and usually a CM at the start of the line, directing you where to go, very efficient!

361.jpg

The drink stations outside on deck were self-serve when we were sailing, the ones inside of Cabanas were not. I think they're all back to self-serve now. Things have really changed since we were on. In fact, the next sailing after ours, the self-service aspect was back for everything, including Cabanas.

362.jpg

Back to the room, Kira had showered and was just chilling, doing her Wordle app. She got Rob and I into the whole Wordle craze a few weeks before we left, it's kind of fun celebrating and commiserating about it every day together. We didn't do it while on board but she found an app that does 16 words at a time, she's gotten so good at it! She often beats Rob and I at the daily Wordle. :p

363.jpg

Rob had some reading time on the verandah while Kira and I watched Enchanted on the TV.

364.jpg

365.jpg

After the movie, Rob and I went down to deck 1 and off the ship just to take photos of our ship :rotfl2:

368.jpg

370.jpg

371.jpg

Not that you could tell with Rob but it was super windy! In fact, the winds had started last night and would remain for most of the rest of the cruise.

372.jpg

This was as far forward as we were allowed. A quick selfie by the sign and then back onboard! pixiedust:

373.jpg

We went back to the room to grab Kira. We had to leave the room so Alain could clean it.

We took some Atrium pics and then chilled in the comfy couches for a bit.

375.jpg

376.jpg

379.jpg

Then we saw Chip and Dale come out in their pirate gear, so I went up to take a photo. There was almost no one else around and they were just having a blast with the two CM's that were with them. They were commenting how no one wanted their pic. So I went up and took this one and then the one CM (I think his name was AJ?) came over and DEMANDED that I take photos with them. He was sooo funny, he literally dragged me over, turned me around, put my hand up with my phone and instructed me to take a selfie. Then he instructed Rob and Kira to come over, stand in front of them while I took their pic.

389.jpg

378.jpg

391.jpg

By the time we left, AJ had gathered up a few more people to harass. :rotfl2:

I asked Kira if she had checked out the adult clubs yet and she said she didn't think she was even allowed down there. I explained to her that she's not allowed after 9pm but she was more than welcome to explore during the day. I suggested we explore together since we hadn't been down there yet either on this trip.

The endless hallway...

377.jpg

La Piazza...

359.jpg

Skyline Lounge...

381.jpg

And then through the Tube.

382.jpg

I had to show her the cool rounded bathrooms, of course!

384.jpg

385.jpg

And then we decided to play some trivia. It was Disney trivia, we came in second place. It was a hodgepodge of random Disney stuff. Some of it was old TV stuff that I had no clue about. There were about 10 teams playing, it was fun but Kira and I were missing our trivia buddies, Jen & Claire. ::yes::

386.jpg

Did you know that you can step on a button and make this Vespa make sounds? :p

387.jpg

Kira was starving by now, I was a little hungry too, so we went up to Flo's....no cookies.

366.jpg

We got some delicious chicken strips!

367.jpg

We ate them in our room, while we watched Big Hero 6 and then we snuggled.

380.jpg

Not that you could tell with Rob but it was super windy! In fact, the winds had started last night and would remain for most of the rest of the cruise.
I figured it was super windy when Rob didn't have on his hat. I know that I take mine off when it gets windy as I know how things can take off and blow away. We lost a bag of souveniers in Saint Marten when we were on a cruise. It just blew out of my hand while we were walking on the dock back to the Magic and was floating in the water. The security people were giving me heck and I said well I didn't plan on it leaving my hand so now hold everything tightly when it is windy. I had to go back to the shop and rebuy the can coozies that were in the bag.

Oh I love this day. And I really love that you have no qualms about doing, well, nothing. Like you're home. When we cruised, I always felt the need to always do something and the guilt would always get to me if we sat down. You don't feel the guilt and that is amazing. I need to do that when we decide to cruise next time. Ok, so your walk all the way outside to the bow, you said its as far as they "allow". Is there someone to stop you from going all the way forward? I've never seen anyone? I wonder why they would stop you.

Awesome as always Cass, loving it.

Just as I headed out, I got a message from her that she was eating at Urban Pantry so I hopped on the water taxi and made my way over there. I found them tucked way over in the corner and we chatted for a bit. It's a shame we didn't get any pics because her son and I were wearing the same shirt. 🤣
I'm so excited that I made it into a Cass trip report. I feel famous. And still bummed that we didn't get a picture of you and Logan.

Aww man, what is going on with the no-show cookies? Bummer. Sorry to hear your new room came with noises, too :(
Enjoying an empty ship on a port day is the best!!

Yes his name is AJ, I recognize him from our November 2021 Fantasy cruise. We loved him. In fact Logan just found him on Instagram, so he is following him now.

March 28th Part 2

Rob and Kira started their first case of Mid-Ship Detective Agency and got a few clues...

392.jpg

393.jpg

Some more characters were out now, all in their piratey finest. pirate:

394.jpg

After some Mid-ship gaming, Rob and I headed to Ultimate Disney trivia. Kira didn't want to join us sadly.

395.jpg

She missed out on our big win :p

396.jpg

Once that one was done, we headed next door for Disney Theme Park trivia, which we also won. It went to a tie-breaker and we won the tie-breaker but we gave our medals to the other team. 🥇

Check out the dude's awesome vest made out of pirate bandanas from DCL pirate night! We have tons of those! Excellent way to use them. 8-)

397.jpg

We went to watch us sail away from Cozumel...

398.jpg

399.jpg

And then it was time for dinner.

400.jpg

Rob's best pirate face. :rotfl2:

401.jpg

Kira was obsessed with my necklace the entire meal. I had wanted to wear it but it was so tangled and she was on a mission to untangle it for me. :rotfl:

402.jpg

Piratey food porn 🏴‍☠️

404.jpg

405.jpg

406.jpg

407.jpg
408.jpg

They had some piratey wenches come around the tables and there were songs and stuff. Very festive. 🏴‍☠️

409.jpg

410.jpg

411.jpg

412.jpg

413.jpg

Back to the room where we found information about the tenders for Grand Cayman tomorrow, not that we would need it. :rolleyes1

414.jpg

We enjoyed the end of the sunset and some balcony time.

415.jpg

416.jpg
'

Kira was proud, she finally got it untangled! :cool1:

Sadly, the end part broke and I couldn't wear it anyway. :( I'm going to have to buy a new chain for it. She also stole Rob's shirt that he had just bought. Pirate!

Rob told her to keep it and then he went and bought himself another one the next day. :upsidedow

417.jpg

We headed up to the top deck for fireworks. Love this cute logo. They did have it on a t-shirt in the shops but it had a front pocket and it wasn't my style.

419.jpg

We got a spot on deck 13 forward, next to the smoking area.

418.jpg

But I popped over real quick to see what was going on at the main pool.

420.jpg

They were having a dance party. Not sure what the difference is between this and the pirate party but okay. :rolleyes2

421.jpg

Back to deck 13, where it was crazy windy!

422.jpg

423.jpg

It was really bothering Kira, she had to hold her hair back to even see it. I was thankful that I had short hair. ::yes::

425.jpg

Kira went to Vibe and Rob and I headed for Quiet Cove.

427.jpg

The pool is round and not ideal for doing laps but I managed a few laps by using that little seating area, I just had to watch my knees and ankles, especially during the waves. It had been rather calm so far though. I had a lot of people, as they walked by, ask me about the temperature of the pool. Like I said, not quiet and not a cove. :lmao: But the temperature was a lot colder than I expected it to be for a Caribbean cruise out of Florida. Most nights it was cool to cold. I only saw a few people brave enough to even try and they all left after a minute or two. To be honest, I only managed it because I knew I could warm up in the hot tubs. But that's what I love, being cool in the pool, warming up in the hot tub and then back to the pool to cool off. :cloud9:

428.jpg

At 10pm, we gathered our stuff and headed over to the main pool, they we're supposed to be having fireworks again for the late diners. The wind was CRAZY!!! I have never experienced wind this bad on a cruise before! :scared1:

At some points, we had to hold onto the railing just to keep ourselves from blowing over, it was crazy and hilarious!

I honestly didn't think they would even have the fireworks again that night. We spoke to a CM and they said they were delayed due to the weather. We waited it out and at 10:35pm, we watched our second round of fireworks. :thumbsup2

Once they were done, we managed to get back to our room safely and then passed out for the night. Kira was already back in the room by the time we got back.

Another awesome day in the books! :goodvibes

Yes! I liked the shirt, yet I didn't like the actual style of the shirt....so I haven't bought one either.

That's how it was on our Alaskan cruise the first night going up from Seattle. Insane winds!

I am laughing hysterically at your wind video

She was truly a pirate, on pirate night ;)

Such a great trip report so far!!! The food porn :lovestruc pictures!!! It looks like you had some great meals!

It sucks that your second room was noisy. I wouldn't want a noisy room either. I'm not a light sleeper, but I do tend to get up often at night, so it would bother me as well.

Can't wait to hear more

:bday: Happy Belated 50th Birthday Cass!!!! :bday:

It looks like you had an amazing birthday on your cruise minus the fact that you had to move due to noise.

I wonder if it is a Canadian thing as I also celebrated my 50th birthday onboard the Disney Fantasy in March 2019 (we're from Ontario) and my 50th birthday was also day 2 of our cruise!!!!

I wanted to do something special to remember my 50th and you can never go wrong with WDW and DCL. It was just my Mom and I on the cruise (we normally cruise with a bunch of friends) so we spent a lot of time "chilling" in the room watching movies and napping. I think it was one of our best cruises because it was so relaxing. I celebrated my actual birthday with brunch and dinner at Palo and was so thankful that they did not sing happy birthday.

I'm looking forward to following along on the rest of your cruise and I sure hope that the wind died down.

Oh my, that was quite the wind that night!!!

But huzzah for the return of pirate night shenanigans, complete with daughter pilaging lol

March 29th, Part 1

It was a rough night at sea, with my ear plugs in, I had the best sleep of the cruise so far. We love being rocked to sleep. :teeth:

We had not yet arrived to Grand Cayman when I woke up and it was nice and overcast most of the day. Crazy humid though!

429.jpg

Rob and I headed down to Royal Court for a light breakfast. This was where Ronny & Dean would be this morning, so that's where we went! Dean was greeting people once again, you can see him in the photo below actually.

I bought this shirt during my solo Disney trip in February. I'm not a fan of the colour but I liked the folded sleeves and loved the saying on the front. Sorry, Minnie, there really is only ONE mouse in my heart. :rotfl2:

Most of my wardrobe consists of four main colours: blue, black, grey & purple. I'm not a big colour person, so when I put this on, both Kira and Rob said something like "Wow, I've never seen you in yellow!" :rotfl:

One of them is right, one of them is wrong. ;)

430.jpg

We were seated in Ronny's section and we ended up being next to Mike & Diana, the lovely couple we met in the terminal.

Rob was happy because they had croissants this morning. They didn't have them in Enchanted Garden yesterday morning and well, he might die if he doesn't get his daily dose of chocolate croissants. :rolleyes1

Rob had his usual, cream of wheat, grapefruit, but decided to skip the waffles/french toast/pancakes to save room.

431.jpg

I had my usual...

432.jpg

Ronny was kind enough to take his mask off for a quick photo.

433.jpg

We were talking about dinner tonight just before we left and I asked him if we were still allowed to order from a different restaurant. He said it would be no problem and to make it a little easier for him tonight, I pre-ordered. I ordered Kira and I each an entrée, both our faves. 🤤

Back to the room...we had arrived and anchored by then. We had no plans for Grand Cayman. I originally wanted to take the tender over and walk around, check out some shops, take some pics of my favourite trees but when we got on the ship and checked out our schedule, they had moved our Palo Brunch reservation from Falmouth day to Grand Cayman day. I don't know why and I completely forgot to see if we could change it back after we boarded. I asked Kira and Rob if they were okay with skipping Grand Cayman and both were more than okay with it. Taking the tender was kind of a pain and we had been here many times before. We've swam with the stingrays 3 times before, been to the turtle farm, beach, shopping areas. I do love Grand Cayman, but I was okay skipping it too, especially since it was super humid today.

434.jpg

Kira had taken over our bed and was starting to get hungry and we were out of cookies. :p

435.jpg

So, I called room service and ordered her some more. :goodvibes When I called, they also asked about our Platinum gift and since we don't drink and we can get fruit all over the ship, we chose the truffles, as usual. ::yes::

436.jpg

Kira ate her cookie breakfast, Rob read on the verandah and I hopped in the shower. Up next was Palo brunch! Kira went and did some mid-ship detective agency on her own so that Alain could clean our room.

454.jpg

Rob asked what Remy was, told him it was not for us. Once he looked at the menu, he agreed. :lmao:

453.jpg

We would be going the other way. And honestly, even Palo is too fancy for my liking.

I go because Rob enjoys it but I would be happier eating chicken strips in my room watching a movie. :rolleyes1

437.jpg

438.jpg

There's hidden mickeys on the plate. :earsboy:

439.jpg

I got me a fancy diet coke.

440.jpg

Our server took a photo of us and then started walking away.

441.jpg

I guess he decided it was too people-y and took this shot for us.

442.jpg

It was a little different from Palo on the Wonder a few months ago. If you wanted muffins or croissants, you had to order it from your server. I asked for a plain croissant, which had come in our bread basket on the Wonder, but they didn't have any so I ordered an almond croissant and brushed off the almonds LOL! I like almonds but on their own.

443.jpg

Rob ordered a muffin.

444.jpg

And here's our bread basket...

445.jpg

I got my usual, celery soup!

446.jpg

And Rob got his favourite, the tomato soup.

447.jpg

Rob also got the seafood appetizer.

448.jpg

I got the lasagna, which I didn't actually care for. It was so much better on the Wonder.

449.jpg

Rob got the apple cinnamon waffle.

450.jpg

We were both full so we only ordered one dessert and even then, only had a bite each. So pretty though!

451.jpg

Our server came out with another plate and said the chef wouldn't allow us to leave without having one more plate. I thought it was another dessert and was thankful when I saw that it wasn't. :rotfl:

452.jpg

Before leaving, we checked out the Meridian Bar and the outside decks.

455.jpg

If I was still a smoker, this is where I would come! Comfy and quiet!

456.jpg

The other side...

457.jpg

We also checked out the fancy bathrooms here. I checked to make sure no one was in it before I took the photo. ;)

459.jpg

460.jpg

As we were heading back to our room, Kira texted us that someone had dropped off a gift to our room.

461.jpg

It was from Guest Services, not sure why we got it, maybe because we changed rooms? :confused3

Kira enjoyed the rice krispies Mickey ears and wore the cute ears. She had them on backwards here, ooops! We took the popcorn home, they still haven't gotten to it yet.

462.jpg

463.jpg

We just chilled in our room until dinner time. I think we watched part of a movie together.

464.jpg

Next up, dinner! 😋
