**Question of the day – Were we able to complete our quest for the balloon ride, ?***
I’ll Fly Away ….. maybe
Tuesday May 5th was supposed to be our sleep in, play at the pool, explore the resort day. At least that was what we had planned until I got the Groupon for the balloon ride. By today, I really wanted to just bag the idea and relax at the resort with the kids. Jim and Ryan, however, really didn’t want me to waste the money I had spent, so Ryan called the balloon company, and they stated that we should come by at 8:00 am or when the rain stopped, to see if they were flying.
So, since we did wake up early, we ate some eggs and bagels and then we were off to DTD. It was raining when we were first looked, so we actually headed out about 8:30. We arrived at the boat dock to wait for our water taxi. There was a sign up that said they opened at 9. We stood waiting by the chain – not climbing under it, not sitting on the fence, not jumping in the water – just standing near the entrance – a boat nazi came marching by and said, “You know the boat will not be taking off for another 10 minutes!” in her most authoritative voice. “Yes, thank you.”
“Standing there is not going to make it happen any quicker.” Jim didn’t like her comments. He said something like, “Really, we’re too stupid to know that. Thanks, we got it!” She kind of circled us and gave Jim the stink eye, then kept walking up toward the resort. In exactly 10 min, she came marching down to the dock, got on the boat and fiddled around for a bit, before she opened the gate and pulled the chain back without looking at us. Okay, point made.
I took this one for Mary Ellen while we waited:
We had a quick ride over to DTD, or Disney Springs as it has been called now.
Lots of construction over here:
We headed back toward the balloon as quickly as possible. No, they were not up and running – they were earlier, but now it was too breezy up there. Come back at dusk. Alright. So we wandered around and did some shopping, got a refill on our Adult sports drink bottles (purchased earlier in the week – got a nice discount on the refills)
I headed over to Basin, then to the little shop on the corner across from EOS. I was on the lookout for Mulan, because Londynn thought I should bring Mulan home for Liv I finally made it over to Quest and found the gang. They were having a blast playing some games. I ran upstairs to take some pics of the snack bar. I may have sat at a table and did a little Facebook. I really don’t do well in arcades.
Then we found the Pirates of the Caribbean game. So much fun! We had to split our group up, so I took the boys in first, then they let the boys join the other three adults for a second adventure. If you haven’t done this one, it is a must do! You are sent into a little booth that is the replica of an old schooner deck, Complete with cannons and a stern. One of you gets to be the captain and steer, and the others get to shoot the cannons while you are “sailing” in a virtual reality sea with all kinds of attacks and high seas and obstacles. We were running back and forth and laughing. It went by quickly.
Here are some internet renderings:
We ended back out on the street, and Mason needed to choose his birthday gift from us at the Lego Store! He chose the big pirate ship! I think they packed the little bags of pieces in their luggage and left the box behind. We spent quite a bit of time making little lego people from the bins of parts. We got a smaller set for Evan also.
WOD was all dolled up for Cinderella
By now we were feeling pretty hungry, so we went back over to EOS because we had enjoyed it so much on Saturday. The ordering process went pretty smooth this time, and we enjoyed our lunch outside. We struck up a conversation with a family next to us, and the boys enjoyed splashing in the nearby splash area.
We decided to head back to the resort for a bit, and have some pool time. We hopped on the water taxi back -
Our elusive balloon quest
Love this one every time
We enjoyed the pool for awhile. I may have mixed up an adult beverage in my mug. Frozen lemonade, citrus vodka, and sprite. We headed over to the main pool because the kids wanted to try the slide over there. There were group activities going on, but the boys just wanted to play with mom and dad, and we just wanted to relax and read and sleep in our chairs. It seemed like we just got settled and it was time to pack up and head back to the resort to get ready to celebrate Mason’s choice for his Birthday Dinner…..
Where do we have an ADR this evening????
