Black Friday Buddies 2011 Unite!

I am leaving for Target shortly,l but I just drove past Best Buy. The line is down the sidewalk, past the Goodwill store that is next door and around the corner another 50 feet or so!!! People are nuts, like you will get any deals when you are that far back in line.

I know! We drove by there at about 8:00 and I could NOT believe it. I think it might be partially because it's so nice out this year. You'll have to tell me how Target was. We went for the 10pm stuff at Walmart and the parking all the way over to Home Depot was packed as well as at all the stores across the street!

(elgerberger and I are from the same town.)

We just got the $30 set of Legos. On my own I probably would have wandered a bit but DH was ready to get out of there. We contemplated Gamestop to get our boys the refurb DSi's but he decided he'd rather take money out of his bonus and pay the regular price. LOL

My most exciting score today was finding the Harry Potter Scene It game online at Kohl's for half price at about 7:00. Used a 20% off code and with tax and shipping it was about $20. DD will be SO excited!

My daughter and I just returned from our first BF experience together and got....nothing. We only wanted two things at Target. Got there a little bit before midnight, with the idea that we would sit in the car until the line, which snaked around the building and was hundreds of people long, was pretty much gone. Midnight came and we saw a little movement, but the big huge line did not appear to be moving. After about ten minutes we got out of the car and made our way to the store, figuring the line would move by the time we got across the parking lot. Nope. They were only letting in THIRTY people at a time. They had let a few groups of thirty in by the time we got there, but really, I would have been steamed if I had been waiting in line for any length of time in the freezing cold. We decided it was not worth our time to wait.

Yeah, Target does it that way to keep masses of people from stampeding into the store all at once.

They let thirty people in, wait 30-60 seconds for them to spread through the store, then let in the next group.

Just back from Target. Went for one thing, the 46" TV, left with one thing, a 40" TV...I'm Happy! :cloud9:

Now back to sleep for a few hours and back up at 5am... :guilty:

DS & his girlfriend went to Walmart. I texted them my list, lol. They got some of the items, but some were all gone. No worries, none of it was critical to a Merry Christmas, but good buys. Going tomorrow to get a new microwave to replace the one that died this morning. :sad2: But we still had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Most all of the family was at Mom & Pop's & that matters most! Happy Black Friday everyone. :goodvibes

one more hour to go until walmart.com goes live....i don't think i'm going to make it. :( SOOOOOO tired....

Back from Target got everything on my list! Woot woot. A tip on the cheap video games, if they are gone look for the "official" display of the game. I scored 2 of the $15 3ds games that way. They have to be opened by an employee.
Also what the registers 2 of my deal busters were coming up full price! They adjusted at the register because I had the ad right in my hand.

Spent $170 stuck to the list saved $163! Worth the lack of sleep for me

Now to cat nap and hit the mall.

Not so pleasant experience at Walmart. I got there at 9:30. Parking lot was already full, so was the parking lot of the Home Depot next door. I parked in the Target parking lot across the street. This was my first mistake.

Thought things were looking up when I nabbed one of the last shopping carts. Entered through the grocery section and took a spot in the ladies department. There were already HUGE lines for electronics. I had hoped to get Kinect bundle, but the line for that already snaked through two grocery aisles.

Five to 10pm and a fight breaks out next to the video games. People take this cue and start tearing into the BF displays. I grab a few clothing items, but most were picked dry before I could even reach them. One poor lady was flat out on the floor, clutching her items to her chest. She couldn't get up. No one helping her, just trying to get by her. Just insane!

I try to make my way over to the toy section, but the main back aisle is clogged with people. Lots of pushing and swearing...I was starting to get a full blown panic attack when I ducked into the baby department. I try to get by using the back aisle, but an employee has tape up and is blocking the way. People are begging him to get by. Some are even climbing over the stroller display. People standing on displays like Norma Ray trying to find a way out. I tell the sales clerk that we are blocked. He tells me to push my way to the front.

It takes me a full 30 minutes to make it from the back of the store to the register.

I stumble to my car. The Target line stretches past the shoe store and past Pet Smart. I decided to try my luck online.

I will NEVER venture into Walmart again.

I'm back from Target. Very pleasant experience, incredibly organized. Long lines, yes, but they moved quickly. Anyway, got everything I wanted, plus the iPod Touch with the 10% coupon, 5% red card, and $40 gift card, as well as stuff for the kids we are sponsoring. Can't beat it!

Nothing lasted past 9:30 except the electronics at my Walmart. Got there around 9, no carts, parked way out by the gas station. I worked my way around the store to the laundry section, grabbed the biggest clothes basket they had, then started working my way back towards the front to try to get a shark cleaner and some pillows. About 9:25, a woman started digging her fingers into the towel box, then a group jumped in and started tearing at the plastic, and then all hell broke loose. The workers were trying to stop them at first, then just got out of the way. They told the rest of us to go ahead. I got my shark, but no pillows, and the cops had to get involved over the sheets! I went around to the back of the store and got some of the sweats/ts for the kids, a Baby Alive doll, came back around and got some bath mats, etc. and had checked out before 10pm!!!! I loaded those things in my car, and spotted someone loading their car and waited for their cart, went back in and grabbed some princess barbies, and sat down on the floor next to the $49 blu ray players. That was actually nice-met some other nice people and talked for 1 1/2 hours:scared1:. The electronics were pretty heavily guarded, but at exactly midnight the workers got out of the way and it was a free for all again. I got my blu ray, then finally made it to the movies (couldn't get to that area earlier). got the whole set of X Men movies, Independence Day, blind side, wizard of oz, all on blu ray, then my sister called. She had to work tonight, and wanted me to check on some of the $28 PS3 games for her son. They were still in the case, no one had even asked about them, so I was able to get the ones she wanted.

It was crazy, but I actually had fun:)

well, walmart.com is live, BUT, the $19 printer that i wanted was "out of stock online" before the sale even came up! what a load of BS!! i stayed up for hours for THIS? screw it, i'm going to bed.

So I noticed most of the things I wanted for my DS online at Walmart were showing out of stock, not available before 3am. I tried again around 2:56am and got everything I wanted in his size. Goofy me didn't think anything of it and as I was checking out and not going as quickly as I should, it hit 3:00am and now it's FROZEN! I can't check out - I waited up to get these things and don't know what to do. It's extremely frustrating when the servers can't handle the traffic and I'm trying to give them money!! :rotfl2:

I'll give it a few more and then it's nighty night time for me :)

I hope others are having better luck!

Heather

I hit up Best Buy and Target tonight and I got what I wanted and it went very smoothly. I dropped by Macy's and also walked through the mall but didn't see anything I wanted and also Kohl's but that store was jammed! I didn't feel like waiting an hour to check out at Kohl's so I'm home just over 3 hours later. It was odd being out so late with so many places so crowded.

Some people mentioned that they'd been at Wal-Mart and it was particularly crowded. I thought about going but that can wait.

That is awful. This was the first time we gone to waltmart and I was impress norhing got out of control. The had cops and many employees guarding the items. When someone try to get into the movies early the cop escorted them out.

Well, I'm back from ALL of it...:yay:

Got up at 5am and got the wireless printer and a set of computer speakers for less than $50!

I made it to Big Lots at 5:51am, for the Pandigital tablet.

They let us in at 6:02am (don't they know TIME at Big Lots???) and everyone went immediately to the cashier for the tablets...

They had EIGHT, yes EIGHT and I was like number 10 on line..:headache::laughing:

Oh, well, didn't need it anyway.

Eased into the furniture area to get the TV stand that was $50 less than yesterday...:yay: Will be great for the awesome TV I got at midnight from Target!

It weighed about a ton, thank God for large teenaged sons! :thumbsup2

Bought it and got a $10 giftcard for when I come back for necessities!

Now on to Radio Shack. Scored on an Ipad2 keyboard thingy for $29!

On to Waffle House for gas...

Last stop, CVS. Bought 3 seen on TV things and got an Amex card for my trouble.

Now home and hoping to get a few hours sleep...:cloud9:

Night night everyone!!

Well, it looks like the camera I was going to get is available online, but nothing else is. And I got a better deal on a camera yesterday.

If I do venture out today, it will be to Rite Aid to get some boxes to wrap gifts in, or get groceries. Walmart is on my no-go list!
