If you go to the YC/BC thread, you will find a lot of info on the rehab. One poster on there works at the BC and has provided a lot of info. If I remember correctly, I read on there that the lobby at the BC has already been done.
The only thing I've seen about the BC (and YC) renovations is that they are refurbing all the rooms - NOTHING at all like what is going on right now at the Poly. When they do the rooms, you probably wouldn't even know they were working on them. Right now, they have the entire 5th floor (Club Level rooms) closed and are aiming for those rooms to be finished by December, then they will move on. The 20 month timeframe also includes the BCV and the YC rooms.
They have already done the BC lobby (just new furniture, etc.).
20 months is a long time for a room only reno. CBR is larger than BC and currently undergoing a room only reno, and it should take slightly less than 12 months. I'd suspect the public areas would be renovated as well, maybe the pool too.

I often read WDWMAGIC and think they generally have reliable information. That said, I think they are off base a bit here.
As reported by a BC CM, the 20 months is the total elapsed plan for BOTH resorts to be completed. Approximately 10 months at each resort. That is perfectly reasonable for what is described as a pretty complete renovation - things like rooms, soft goods, hall carpets etc.
It is also reported that the BC Lobby is done. They refurnished the lobby furniture and it is believed that is all that is planned at this time.
This renovation is NOTHING like what is going on at the Poly.
The Lobby is not being torn apart and reconfigured with a waterfall being removed.
The pool is not loosing a rock formation volcano and being reconfigured,
DVC bungalows are not being built on the shores of the lake.
3 buildings, or even 3 floors of rooms, are not being converted to DVC studios.
It is a TOTALLY DIFFERENT circumstance.
Disney refurbs resorts on an on going basis. Again, the current Poly work is an aberration. There is little disruption during the usual ongoing work.
I think you are fine.
Thanks for this!!!
The troubling part of the article that is circulating is the phrasing comparing the planned Beach Club renovation with the war zone that is going on at the Poly.
You have put that in great perspective.
Do you mind posting this, or letting me quote this on the FAQ?
