We are going to SciFi for lunch next week, and are on the dining plan. I think DS10 would perfer to order the chicken wing appetizer as his meal. At $11+ it is only $1 less than the reuben that might get. Do you think we can use a meal credit for this, or will we have to pay OOP?

The pretty much universal answer to this is no you can't use a dining credit to get an appetizer as your entree.

Actually I don't think it's universal, but it is entirely up to the restaurant. Some restaurants may allow it and some may not. The ones that don't tend to be the third-party operated restaurants, and Sci-Fi is a Disney restaurant, for whatever that is worth.

The most strictly enforced dining plan rule is no appetizer in place of your dessert, but some restaurants may be more lenient about an appetizer in place of your entree.
