I was just wondering (glumly) if it gets any easier to get an ADR if the date is really close -- or once you are already at wdw?

It can happen. Someone gets sick at the last minute or something and people cancel all the time. Keep trying. Two to three times a day call Disney dining to get what you want.

Still don't have it when you leave for your trip? Try guest services or the concierge when you get in. Still don't have it call the dining line every day while you are there.

Going to the parks without a reservation? Stop at Guest services in the park to see what they can do.

It can't hurt and sometimes things just suddenly open up.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you. :)

my brother and his family went in June on 2 weeks notice and were able to get 4 reservations for the week they were there on the day that they arrived. 2 at Chef Mickey's, on at Tusker House and one at Crystal Palace. The times weren't great, but at least they got something :)

I majorly goofed last time I planned. I had more dinning credits than I had meals booked so I called the day before we left and booked every restraunt that we wanted. The times were NOT necessarily exactly what we wanted but we were able to make it work and we got to eat great food
LeCeller 5:05
Narcossee 8:30
Les Chefs 12:00 noon
Tusker House 11:30 Lunch (we wanted breakfast)

It can be done!!!!!

We were also there in June! :)

I called one afternoon around 3pm and got chef mickey's for breakfast the next morning!

I had been looking for months for an ADR for 'Ohana on Oct. 2. I checked every few days online with no luck. Finally, just 4 days before our trip, I decided to check online one last time and was SHOCKED when it popped up!! Just keep checking!!

our last trip we booked out 5 moths and couldn't get CM or CRT. I thought i would have a chance, but the entire week called morning and evening, even checked at the restaurants we did eat at for cancellations. but we got none..
Unfortunatley, it did not work out for us.

Still trying CM and liberty tree dinner during our stay, with no luck:confused3

Last Saturday at 10:30am got a 1:15 reservation for LeCellier at the Guest Services window at HS.

Trip was planned 4 weeks out and had checked on-line several times a day and called 3-4 times per week with no luck. Even had a window of Fri-Mon to work with.

Like others have said, keep checking.

When we planned out honeymoon we made reservations for multiple locations at the same time. When we got there we decided where we wanted to go and canceled the ones we did not want. I am sure that others may think the same way we do. One of our reservations was Cinderella's Round Table, and we got one of the last slots available. At Dinner we met some that got their reservations that week.

My best friend called on a Friday night and got CRT for 8:30 am Saturday morning.

We called on Wednesday morning (Easter week - so one of the busiest times of the year) and got Boma for breakfast on that Friday.

There is absolutely hope! Like everyone has said... keep checking!!

Also, once you get there, make sure to keep checking with concierge. They can let you know even the day-of if there is a reservation available. And if all else fails, you can try a walk up! We have gotten walk ups at Le Cellier, Hollywood Brown Derby, Prime Time Cafe, Liberty Tree Tavern and Whispering Canyon Cafe before.:goodvibes

My last trip was all done last minute and we got some great reservations at great times for my sister and I. We had Le Cellier at 7 one night, Tony's for lunch (1245), chefs de france for dinner (730), Coral Reef for lunch and San Angel Inn for dinner. I got all of these 5days before we left on one phone call you just might need to alter your days and be flexible with times. And like everyone has said just keep trying you never know what can happen!

Definitely keep checking. We made all our ADRs for our last trip while we were in WDW..I guess we didn't know any better :rotfl:

BUT we were still able to score CM for breakfast, Artist Point, and Coral Reef so it worked out okay :)

Definitely keep trying.

My mom loves last minute weekend trips to Disney and on one such trip we were able to get an ADR for dinner at CRT... that night! :thumbsup2

We've gone for plenty of last minute trips and there has only been ONE time I have NOT gotten a last minute ADR. It might not always be at your ideal time, but for a party of 4 or 6, you can generally get one. I've had the best luck either calling 5-6 days prior (since that's around the room cancellation cut-off), or the day of (I have Disney Dining on speed-dial) when I call once an hour until I get what I want. I have them check all available times, and also some restaurants seat in parties of 4/8, others are 2/4/6/8. At times you can ask for a table for 4 and nothing is available, but they have one for 6 (in which case you book it and tell them 2 people backed out when you check in). I've gotten 'Ohana, Boma, Biergarten, San Angel Inn, Chefs de France, and Akershus at the last minute.

Yes we went during free dining and exactly one week before i finally got the 5:00 chef mickey i had wanted and a bunch of block of times for a bunch of places had opened up so i believe they save some for last as the time gets closer.

Yup. When we make a spur of the moment trip to a park, if we decide to do TS that day I've never not been able to secure an ADR a few minutes before we leave the house. There always seem to be openings at the very last minute, whereas when I check for reservations maybe three or so weeks in advance, nada!

Also, I just completely rewrote the schedule for our next resort stay, which is 12 days away, and I was able to rebook every single one of original ADRs on the new days!
