An Unbiased First Timers Dining Report- Short but Sweet!--COMPLETE December!!!

Another great update

I am kind of getting the idea that you like Oreo Bon Bons :cloud9::cloud9:

We love Pizza Planet! To hear it was "watery" is pretty gross, but like you said-- a welcome respite from chicken!

Enjoy your reviews! We live in the twin cities too that was some snowfall we are in the south metro where we got 20in that all arrived two days after we got back from fl. We where at WDW the same time you where (Nov 28-Dec7) and had a blast.

I am right with you on the 2 top tables! We had them at Chef Mickey's and 50's prime time. 50's was ok as it was a sit down but Chef Mickey’s was kind of a hassle.

DH loved the Cheddar Cheese soup at Le Cellier Paul our server gave him a card with the recipe, he is making it for a Christmas party we are going to tomorrow.

I'm really enjoying your reviews :goodvibes
Thank! I only have like 2days left though

Thanks. Yes I did enjoy them! They were super good!!:goodvibes

Lol! Watery does sound gross but the sauce was just kinda runny. It was still good though.

Thanks for the tip re the coupon- we will be there in 10 days!!!

Lucky- have fun!! Im going back in six months!

Yes that snowfall was awful. I hear we might be getting more tonight. We live in Eden Prairie. I want the recipe for that soup. It definitely was very good. I booked a lunch there with my dad when we go back in June.

enjoying your reviews...great pictures, too. Hubby wants to go back to Cape May (last time we went he didn't enjoy much because he'd been sick and was just barely recovered.) Now that they have the crab legs, he really wants to go...I tried to squeeze it in on our January trip, but just can't manage it. Guess that means we've have to go again:rolleyes1

Now onto Animal Kingdom for our last full day! :sad2:

No breakfast this day either.

For lunch Corey went to Restaurant o Saurus and got the cheeseburger with french fries.

PhonePics024.jpg

I have never had a Disney burger besides that GFC burger so I can't comment on this. I am guessing it tasted like what it was. I think I had one french fry and it was okay.

For dessert he got the cheesecake in a cup.

PhonePics025.jpg

Worst mistake ever! It was so gross. The cheesecake may have been good but there was a layer of orange goo on top, very wet and liquidy. It was gross eating that mixed in with the cheesecake. The sad thing is I persuaded him to get this dessert. I wish he would have got the chocolate nousse.

I went to Flame Tree BBQ and had ribs, baked, beans, and coleslaw.

PhonePics002.jpg

The ribs had a really good flavor. I used the spicy BBQ sauce, but they were too hard to eat and messy. I wish I would rather have ordered the Pulled Pork sandwich. The coleslaw was very good and refreshing. The baked beans were gross. It tasted like chili.

For dessert I thought I would take a gamble and see if the Key Lime Pie in a cup was any better.

PhonePics028.jpg

It really wasn't. It was too limey- not key lime but straight lime. I think I just have an issue with that gel like substance on type. It was not appealing to me. I miss Flame tree's old Key Lime Pies.

It was also cold this day! It was the first day of Florida's cold spell- luckily we left at the beginning of the cold spell. It was like 55 this day as a high. Flame Tree needs to make a indoor area, it was too cold sitting outside. I had to find a sunny spot to make it bearable.

Dinner was Tusker House! Our reservations were right after the parade started so it was perfect to watch the parade because the parade starts there. We managed to see the whole parade which was good.

I started off with a salad plate.

PhonePics097.jpg

I actually didn't even get to eat this salad plate because the waitress spilled a whole tray of drinks right in front of our table onto my food. Luckily we didn't get much on us but our food got wet. She tried to make me a new plate of food but she put premixed Caesar salad on it and added ranch on top of the caesar so I didn't eat the salad she made me. I didn't really care that she spilled the drinks because it didn't get us, but she felt really bad.

The corn bread was very good, the tomatoes were okay, and the tabouleh was good.

PhonePics098.jpg

Then i went to the hot side. More corn bread, salmon, curried chicken, potatoes, and bean soup.

The only thing I didn't like from this plate was the bean soup. Everything else was very good.

PhonePics099.jpg

I didn't eat that samosa so I am not sure about it but the roast beef and mashed potatoes were both excellent.

Now time for my favorite part of the meal- dessert!!

PhonePics100.jpg

Bread pudding, lemon bars, and those Magic Bars. The bread pudding was very good, it had raisins in it but there was so few that I was able to pick the few that I saw out. The lemon bars were very good but the Magic Bars were not very good. They were overdone or something. The strawberry chocolate tart thing was delish!!

PhonePics101.jpg

Heres Corey's dessert plate. I can't give input because i didn't try anything.

One last thing for Animal Kingdom day- a Vegetable Egg Roll.

PhonePics045.jpg

Everyone raved about the egg rolls so I thought I would try them but it was just okay. Maybe the pork and shrimp egg roll would have been better but I was put off by the shrimp. I had to eat this on the run to try to do the safari fast so we could get to the Lion king show!!

My favorite part at Animal Kingdom this day was Camp Minnie Mickey. The little huts with the characters were decorated so cute and all of the character trees were adorable!!! I took like 2 pics of every tree. I also took a picture with Santa Goofy! He was so cute. I wanted to take a picture with everyone but Corey wouldn't let me:laughing:.

All in all a fun day. Decent dinner with not that good of a lunch, but oh well We were at Disney World and only paid $100 to eat for the entire week!

My last day reliving the most magical place in the world!:sad1:

This day we went to Boma breakfast at 9:05 am. We first headed to Animal Kingdom and then took a bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge. I was worried that we wouldn't get a bus to AKL with it being so early in the AM but it came right away.

First off we were blown away by Animal Kingdom Lodge. Our three favorite resorts we toured were Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom Lodge, and GF. I think out of all three we would want to stay here. It was beautiful and I loved the animals.

We got sat a little after our reservation.

My first Plate.

PhonePics145.jpg

I loved loved loved everything on this plate!!! The only thing I wished was that they had honeydew melon plain not with yogurt. I put some of the yogurt honeydew in with the bowl of yogurt. I should have gone back for more of the yogurt with the fresh strawberries and bananas in it because that was AWESOME. Im going to start making that fresh at home. The chocolate croissants were also good. I actually didn't eat the muffin or strawberry so I guess I lied about loving everything.

My next plate plus juice.

PhonePics146.jpg

The juice was okay. I wasn't a huge fan but it was cold and always full. I don't even remember what is in it. The scrambled eggs with goat cheese were fantastic! I loved that they had a different flavor than regular eggs. They were a little runny so i was worried they were undercooked but nonetheless good! I couldn't really taste any goat cheese though and I love goat cheese. The potatoes were okay and the sausage was okay. The freshly cut ham was sooooooo good. It was so juicy and warm and just really good! I had a few pieces of that.

Breakfast was $17.99 per person i think and we paid for this out of pocket because our dining plan ended. I loved how the juice is included. I really enjoyed this. Our only other breakfast was Chef Mickey's ever and that was a year ago. We aren't big breakfast people. I think you can't go wrong with a breakfast buffet though. This felt like more of an adult breakfast buffet, which I liked. I didn't try any of the unique offerings here though.

After breakfast we went to tour and saw some giraffes and flamingo. I was amazed at how close the giraffes were!!

We went to the Mara also so I could try some zebra domes.

PhonePics159.jpg

Heres a picture cut into one.

PhonePics161.jpg

These had a good flavor but it wasn't outstanding as everyone says. The texture was weird and they were very soft. Im not sure if you are normally supposed to pick them up and eat them as finger food but you could definitely not pick these up, they would not hold with any pressure. The outside layer was extremely soft, so I had to eat with a fork. I was worried they would have too much of a liquer taste, but it was very mild.

I am glad I tried the zebra domes and breakfast was very good!

No more restaurants to review, but final comments and closing coming soon

I'm glad you posted this! I always wanted to know what they looked like inside. I hear and read about them all the time and I have been curious.

I have really enjoyed reading your review, we have a tentative plan for another visit in May/June and I have been looking at all the different restaurants to figure out where to make ADR's when the time comes.

Great reviews, you discussed several places that we're going to try for the first time for next years trip! Question about the oreo bon bons: I immediately searched for a recipe after seeing your pics, and the ones I found said that you dip them in ganache, but your pics look like they have a crumb coating on them. Do you know what the coating was? Looks like something that would be great to bring to a Christmas party!

oh my! i just spent the last half hour reading this entire post, and i LOVE love loved it. what a great idea! i'm new here (as you can see) and i didn't know people posted dining reports. whenever my husband and i go anywhere i take pics of the food; he's made a game out of trying to take a bite out of it before i can click the camera on my phone! ha! i'm going to disney on my own for a couple of days in march, and i'm totally doing this--without having to worry about him taking a bite first! (actually, if i can figure out how to add the photos, i may do it for the last trip we went on!) thanks for this posting--it was great!!!!!!

Now that this is over, I am going to give closing remarks on favorites!

Favorite meal: Ohana
Least favorite meal: I guess its a tie between Tusker House or Crystal Palace....there wasn't really one I disliked just prefer others better
Favorite Buffet: I guess Cape May...there was no big standout
Favorite Dessert: My favorite was Oreo Bon Bons, Coreys was Ohana
Least Favorite Dessert: Maple Creme Brulee from Le Cellier
Favorite Counter Service: Cosmic Rays or Sunshine Seasons
Least Favorite Counter Service: Flame Tree BBQ

All in All we tried 5 new restaurants: Ohana, Le Cellier, Boma Breakfast, Cape May Dinner, Grand Floridian Cafe.

I wanted to try Le Cellier before it switched over and it was so good! I was worried about Ohana and Le Cellier being over rated but they were definitely NOT! They were both so good, yummmy!! They were my favorite new restaurants.

I hope you guys enjoyed my food report! I had fun doing it and am excited to do it again in June when i go back with my family for free dining again. I will have seven credits so far I have
Ohana
Via Napoli
Yachtsmen Steakhouse or Hollywood Brown Derby
Le Cellier lunch
Les Chefs de France

I will still have one more credit so I am deciding what to do with that. We are going to Universal for two days which is why I will have to use more in one day.

Can't wait till June!! Until then I will be reading everyone else's reviews. Hope you enjoyed =)

It's a shame your reviews are over, they have been really great :goodvibes

Now it's time to start planning your June trip and getting all your ADRs sorted out so that you can do another dining review for us all :thumbsup2

I think they may have had a ganache coating but you would dip them in cookie crumbs after you dip them in. I will have to search for a recipe too. They were very good finger desserts.

Welcome to the Disboards. Im glad you enjoyed my reviews. You should do a review when you go on your trip~ I think you need like 10 reviews to post and you post your pics on photobucket and then include the img link in your post.

It's a shame your reviews are over, they have been really great :goodvibes

Now it's time to start planning your June trip and getting all your ADRs sorted out so that you can do another dining review for us all :thumbsup2

Thanks Linda! I will have to see if you do any reviews coming up any time soon. I know I am already getting anxious planning our trip. I am not sure what to do with our last credit! Either breakfast or lunch before we leave.

I agree with your reviews so am confident to say avoid chefs de France like the plague it is by far the most disgusting restaurant in Disney the food is bland and cooked in the microwave

Ur dining report was AWESOME.. Short, sweet and too the point.. and I am so happy that you loved Le Cellier.,. one of my favorite restaurants ever..

Thanks for sharing your food pics and reviews. It's always helpful to hear what others thought of a restaurant when you're on the fence about a certain restaurant or meal.:thumbsup2

fantastic Reviews and photos.....I love FOOD PORN...Thanks for taking the time to post it all.
