If I recall, we slept in a tiny bit on Sunday, September 25. R was simply exhausted after the long day before and I felt bad waking him up. We started our day at my favorite park - Animal Kingdom - with a ride on Kilimanjaro Safaris.
I am really disappointed that they changed the ride and took out the "radio station coming in" bit since Hapa Duniani is 1.) a beautiful song and 2.) one of those happy sounds that just immediately transports me to vacation. That aside, I never hate the safari and of course I was just happy to be there.
We then went off in search of a mystical yeti on a train track that was frankly in disrepair...
(love this area down by the water)
R and I took our leave from the rest of my family and decided we were in need of refreshment so we stopped by my favorite Animal Kingdom savory snack spot, Mr. Kamal's, and ordered up some hot fried samosas.
As usual, these were fresh and delicious and filled our tummies for a stint so that we could get some real food. We did some damage over at the food and wine festival (food has already been reviewed, sorry guys!) and went back to DS to grab R's credit card - he'd left it when paying the tab at Homecoming's bar (where we stopped for to-go drinks and I forgot to take pictures or report on) on Friday night and fortunately it was still there.
The moment of sadness had come for R - I took him back to the airport and he returned to reality. Meanwhile, I returned to the WBC and called an Uber to drop me at the Beach Club so I could meet my mom and sister for more F&W goodies via international gateway. I was sad but in love with the gorgeous sunset and manage to grab a couple pictures.
There was only one thing that could alleviate my sorrow at seeing my best friend leave my happy place... DISNEY CHICKEN NUGGETS!
I know, I know, there was a whole festival of unique treats at my disposal and yet I wanted chicken nuggets. What can I say, sometimes a girl just needs fried things. Anyway, my mom and sister were kind enough to go with me to the Liberty Inn where I ordered the chidren's chicken nuggets. They were tasty and did their job and soon I was back to eating and drinking around the festival with everyone else. (The crappy night pics from my food and wine reviews came from this night).
We actually managed to find an empty bench near the Canada booth about 30 minutes before Illuminations and we decided to stay and watch. Fortunately the area next to the lagoon in front of us was reserved for a private party, so we had a fairly decent view of my favorite nighttime spectacular with a seat. We left as illuminations was ending, and I said goodbye to Epcot for this trip.
