A Different AAA discount question?

I've gone back a ways to see if this was asked but couldn't find my particular question so I'm sorry if this has been covered. I'm a novice so
this might seem like a moronic question but. I have AAA. So when people say they got a AAA rate what does that mean?

Normally when I call to make a reservation some where I just say I have
AAA and usually you get a 10% discount. But it seems the rate is more like 15% at most resorts. Is there something special you have to do or say when making a reservation? Do you have to use a AAA travel agent?

If your're going to be booking a room-only reservation, you can call Disney yourself and tell them you'd like a AAA rate for whatever hotel you're interested in. The discount amount depends on the hotel and season. They usually ask for your AAA number at this time.

If you want to book a package with tickets and/or dining, you MUST book through a AAA travel agent. Only the AAA agent can get you the package using the AAA discount on the room.

supposed discount but the cost on this site is a few $$ less. Where/when is it best to purchase you passes? Is it cheaper to purchase them at the resort? When I see packages online they generally quote you a rate from
a value resort and for 4 people. We have 5 and would like to stay POR-AB
so I'm having trouble finding prices on tickets/resort vs. packages.

You can usually get a discount on tickets if you purchase prior to arrival. There are many discounted ticket brokers. When you check the prices you need to determine if tax is included in the price. That could be why you see different quotes.

If you want to book a package which includes hotel & tickets then booking through AAA is probably your best bet. If your local AAA agent is not a WDW specialist there are many recommended on this site. The agent does not need to be local to book your trip.

If you want to book room and tickets separately you can do it yourself. You can get a quote for AAA room rate from Disney. You can find lots of discount ticket brokers recommended on this forum and it's information site (wdwinfo.com) and on other popular Disney web sites like mousesavers.com and allearsnet.com.

I am planning a trip the end of April through early May and am wondering if the savings for a resort/ticket/dining package is significant enough to warrant joining AAA. I think the initial membership is only around $65, but don't have any idea what kind of savings the packages at AAA offer.

Any help?

We are staying at the contemporary in mid April with the AAA room only discount. We are saving about 300 or so dollars. Plus the membership with AAA comes with other discounts at many other places, movie theaters, some stores, and more. Plus if your car breaks down, they will come and help. Seems to me that it is worth the cost.

I think it depends on the length of stay and resort level. You don't need a current membership to get a quote. You just need AAA to book. Get a quote on the Disney web site and then get a AAA quote. You will know if the discount is enough to warrant buying a membership.

The AAA quote for my planned trip in May saved me $67 (value resort/4 nights/dining plan/1 day ticket) but I've maintained a membership for years so will not need to purchase one just for the savings.
