I have two trips planned to the World of Disney, one for Disneyland in July and one for Walt Disney World in August!

I decided that I needed to do something to help pass the time before I go... besides all the end of year stuff I will be doing in my classroom, like report cards!

So I've decided to write (mostly show in pictures) a trip report from my August 2009 solo trip! I hope no one minds!

Cast... ME

I was an early 30 ish woman at the time, teaching at the same school I'm at now, but I was teaching grade 4 French Immersion at the time. I'm now teaching French Immersion Kindergarten and it's a lot of fun to watch them grow and learn all year.

I am single, (and was at the time), but I have 9 brothers and sisters and 16 nieces and nephews (as of 2015 there are almost 18), so I'm never bored! In 2009, I think I only had 13 though...

I love all things Disney, reading, photography, traveling and being involved in my church/with my faith. They are all tied in together! I do love the Harry Potter books, and I've recently started reading a series of books by a local author, Patti Larsen, called Hayle Coven, and I can't put them down! (Apparently I did, because this summer I started re-reading the series so that I can finish it. Hahahaha)

I live about 3 minutes from the airport, but I can't remember who drove me that morning (It was almost 4 years ago!). It was likely my mother since she gets up early in the summer. Our airport is extremely small, pretty well only one gate to leave from.

The sun was rising while I was waiting to board the plane.

Since the airport is so small, most of the planes are small. I had to 'gate check' my carryon bag. I prepare for that and put the things I'll need for the flight in a separate bag in my carry on though, so I'm good! My bag is the red one.

Looks like some passengers are still walking up to the plane too.

I love how accurate maps are. This totally looks like the shape of PEI on a map. How did cartographers do it so long ago?

Let's keep in mind it was only 11:43 am. I think my flight was supposed to have landed at about 11:30, so that's not bad timing at all!

I was sitting in the middle of the bus, so no sign pictures!

Look at the time! My flight was scheduled to land at 11:28 and It was 12:23, and I was already at my hotel! That made me really happy since the first Golden Girls trip in July we stopped and ate at the airport, then I lost my travel companions... (It's a LONG story!) and we didn't get to Port Orleans French Quarter until 2 or 3 (I can't remember if I'd changed the time on our cameras) and we were on the same flight. 1.5 or 2.5 hours later. Yucky!

That's enough for today I guess. I should get to sleep, big day tomorrow with a niece's 6th birthday party (including her party with friends... and they all go to my school.) and I have to get started on those report cards! I'll need to be awake for both of those! ​

After 3 very short trips, one of which didn't even involve any parks, I was ready for a big trip! And when I say short, I mean MICRO short. My first trip was supposed to be Sunday-Friday, but because of flight issues I landed at about noon on Monday and left very early Friday morning. 3.5 days. My second trip was supposed to be Saturday night-Friday, but because of flight delays it ended up Monday at noon until earlyish Friday. 4.5 days. My third trip was a shopping trip that was only 2 nights and no parks. This was going to be a big trip and it was lovely. The only problem was the fact that I couldn't stop buying Disney things! I loved shopping after that short shopping trip!

This was going to be longer, and I was all set to spend 8 glorious days at Walt Disney World!

I had done online check in and my room was ready. I had decided not to visit any parks since I'd gotten up so early, so I was going to eat, explore the resort and head to Downtown Disney.

Tim McGraw and Reba McEntire had done a concert in PEI that summer... With two Disney trips, I had decided against going, but I sure wish I had! I love both of their music.

I got a king size accessible room. I did not request it at all and I was surprise to see it when I went to my room. I had thought about letting them know I was willing to change if someone needed the room, but I'm sorry to say that I never did that.

After taking all my pictures, I decided I wanted to eat. It had been a while since I'd had a real meal (probably cereal at 4:30 or 5am). So off I went to the food court. This was during the stay 4 nights get 3 free deal, so I splurged on the QSDP. It was my first time on the meal plan. So what do I do while walking to the food court? Take pictures of course!

I think this might have been my only burger of the whole trip. I could be wrong, but we'll find out when I'm done posting all my pictures! I buy the refillable mug each time I go, and I've even bought some used, so now I have about 11 or so. I think I gave some away too! I love getting them, but this time I'm not so sure it will be worth it because I don't drink pop (soda to a lot of you USA folks) very often anymore. I still might though because sometimes there are other things too. The food was good, and I know I got that brownie for dessert MANY times. I loved it. My friend has celiac and I tell her that the gluten free brownies are better than regular brownies, and easier to make!

You're in luck. I decide to procrastinate some more and keep working on this. It's making me look at my pictures again and get excited about my upcoming trips!

After my filling lunch, I decided to browse the gift shop. On our shopping trip in July, I became a Disneyholic shopper. Totally. I struggle with NOT shopping at Disney. I know everything is so expensive, but it's all so darn cute with Mickey heads and princesses and fairies and everything! It's now hard to resist. My first trip, I bought a Mickey hat and a hat for my Dad. My second trip I spend a little more because I had my nephew with me, but still not much. Let's just say that since then, I've had to pay extra at the border on my way home on most of my trips!

Now, when I am in Walt Disney World or Disneyland, I take pictures of things I am tempted to buy. This way I TRY not to buy everything I want, and I can come back and find it later if I still really, really, really want it. Because I'll always WANT it...

I LOVE H2O products. Ever since staying at the Grand Floridian, I love the sea marine scent most. But, there are no real stores that sell H2O stuff here in PEI, so I have to order it on line and it is pricey to ship here. Oh well. I do sometimes find some at Winners though, but never my Disney smell!

I don't think I've mentioned it yet on this TR, but I adore palm trees. I have a dream of buying a palm tree and keeping it at home in the house. I don't think it will survive though, as I live in Canada!

On my way to Downtown Disney! I had fallen in love with it the month before during our shopping trip. I now make sure to go at least twice a trip. And eat there. You'll see which restaurant I loved at this point soon. I have since found another restaurant that I love just as much.

I had my sister take pictures of the Stitch (where he spits water out at you) about a month before this trip here... She kept stepping back when he'd spit, then move back to where he'd get her again! It was so funny. I had to actually tell her where the water was coming from. I also took her in through the skeleton doors, and she screamed when they moved. I laughed and laughed.... and laughed and laughed... A few olderish ladies were laughing at me laughing at her!

I finally bought one, but in Quebec City! For March Break I went to Ste. Anne de Beaupre and Quebec City for a few days and found a Christmas Store... they had Disney Jim Shore items! I bought Snow White. She's been growing on me since Once Upon a Time.

I sat on a little bench back there by the boats to drink my slushie. I made a little video talking about what I was doing, but I was very deliberate in NOT showing my mug... Don't know why I thought my nephew would see the video before I gave him the cup!

I went back to my room to relax because I would be up for an early ADR the next morning!​

I go up nice and early and probably had a little bite to eat. I am the kind of person that needs to eat first thing, including having a light breakfast before going out to breakfast!

(OT: Which reminds me... I teach kindergarten and one day one of my students told me we were going to be staying inside because of the windshield! When it's -20 or colder, we don't go outside for recess and that day the windchill was at least at -20. It still makes me chuckle!)

You will see my little expressions and things I do, I think I'm supposed to be a stage actress or something (or a kindergarten teacher full of expression!)


And a note on the houses: My sisters had started going (never when I could go though) and staying in houses, so I was very keen to show them that this is way better....

Reba is just awesome. I love her music (I love buying her best of CDs or the number one hits... I think I also have three Christmas CDs...) and the TV show Reba was a hit with me as well!

I was a little worried about how I'd feel doing a character meal solo, but not really. I had done one with my nephew in 2007, at Chef Mickey's, so I didn't really mind, but still, it was on my mind!

Yes I love palm trees. They are tied to my love of Disney, I am sure. I want a palm tree, but I don't think it would survive our Canadian weather, even inside!

I spent the time around the area really looking at things differently. I would usually stop, look at the castle, take a few pictures and zoom by to get to a ride or something. (I'm better at that now!)

Oh boy! I can't wait to be back... and feel that heat! I love being hot. Not warm. Hot! I live in PEI, Canada... I don't find it gets hot here. Other people do, and occasionally we'll catch a hot day, but not like Florida. When I walk outside MCO to get on my DME bus, I take a deep breath of hot Florida air! My March trips were not too hot, but I love my summer hot trips!

My first visit to Crystal Palace!

History of trips: March 2006 - 4 days ended up 3.5 days due to flight delays. I had to overnight in Boston and miss the first morning of my extremely short first trip! I was solo. No ADRs, not much planning and I don't think I'd even discovered the Dis until after the trip!

March 2007 - 5 or so days ended up 4.5 days due to flight delays. I took my nephew for his first trip since he'd moved out when his mom got married. Big year for the little guy (who is now graduating!) when he had to leave his home, move in with a new stepdad and stepgrandmother and then all of a sudden a new baby on the way really quickly too! We booked one ADR, for Chef Mickey's. It was the only surprise for my nephew since he'd been in on all the planning from the start. He thought we were just touring the hotels since I really wanted to see the GF (Full House memories!).

July 2009 - 2.5 days/3 nights shopping with my sister and her sister in law/my friend. No ADRs, no parks. Outlet and Disney shopping. We went to DTD at least twice by boat, since we were staying at POFQ. That's when I fell in love with DTD.

So this was my first IN PARK ADR and I was excited!

I loved the restaurant. It was really beautiful.

After my lovely breakfast, I headed out into the park for my first full day at Disney in over 2 years! I was happy to be back, especially since I had booked a trip for December 2008 but had to cancel. ​

Magic Kingdom!

After my delicious and fun breakfast, I stepped out into the crowds to head into the park. I am sure I had some kind of touring plan to follow. I usually start off the days with the plan, to make sure to see the headliners first kind of deal, and then I change it all up or switch parks and do whatever I want!
