Just got home. Surgery was a success. Back for x-rays on Friday to make sure nothing "bad" is left in the kidneys. Doctor said no work until 8/21 and I'll feel like a mack truck ran into me for a few days. Right now I feel no pain. If all goes according to plan (keeping fingers crossed) I'll make it to Jeanne's on 8/23!

Thanks so much for all the good wishes and prayers! You guys are the best!

Good news! So glad to hear you are on the mend. I hope all goes well and the next two weeks go by quickly.

All the best!

banbouk, I own points at the BCV, and we can not get a roll away at the Villas. I bought a single blow up air matress for my son. But if you are not staying on points and paying cash, that might be dirrerent?

Dear Wise Ones,

I'm not normally one to have a full-on Disboards freakout, but bear with me.

Due to some wonky scheduling on my part and a good deal on airfare, I was able to add a three day appetizer at the Beach Club for my upcoming trip. I am so excited, because I have wanted to try this resort for so long. Trouble is, it's just me and the kids this year, so having a balcony is essential. Otherwise, everyone has to go to bed at 8:00 PM. :sad2: My only chance for downtime will be my nightly glass of wine on the balcony/patio. I'm even okay with a bitty balcony, as long as it fits (and has) a chair. So, there are no rooms without balconies, right? And are there chairs on the bitty balconies?

I am sure this has been asked (at least) once in the last 39 pages, but as I said... I'm flying solo, so no time to read them all.

Oh good! I'm glad you're doing well!!! Call me if you have any questions!

Heres a question for you. We arrive late at night on the 23rd (we land after 9 pm) and we currently have AS Movies booked. We then move to BCV on the 24th for three nights. I can get us in the regular Beach Club now for the 23rd but it is quite a bit more money.

I am thinking we check out of ASM the morning of the 24th, go to Animal Kingdom and head over to BCV after lunch. Knock out a morning park, eat and by then we go to BCV.

What are your opinions if I should move to the Beach Club or save $175 for meals?

so glad your surgery was a success...get some rest

Great news Teena,

What are the pastry/cakes you like from the Jersey area? We arrive late on the 29th and are staying until the 6th so I can bring them with us and wait until you are either in work or I'll leave it with someone if you are still resting. I think after all you have been through, you deserve some kind of a treat! I could also bring some decent bagels down for you. Just let me know.

We love the Yacht and Beach Club. Our first stay was at The Yacht Club and now we own DVC at Wilderness Lodge but, we always stay at The Beach Club Villas. We love the pool and the location is perfect....easy boat to Magic Kingdom, walk to Epcot. Perfect!

We're home! Great trip! Great meals! Great rooms! This is what Disney memories are made of. Even had a wedding outside our room this morning to entertain us before we left. We were snapping pictures like we were family.

.....

Great news Teena. Good luck Friday and you take it easy and rest up for your trip.

And are there chairs on the bitty balconies?

Adrianna

Nope. Standing room only. Make sure you request a full balcony.

We have stayed at All Stars and Port Orleans several times on our first night. What we did was got up early, taxi over to BC. Check in and store luggage then off to parks. Then when we return from park all the business end is done. And always a chance that room will be ready and all is well. (Just an altenative).

Goodnite all.

Dear Wise Ones,

Hmmm.... she MUST be talking to me.... Oops! Never mind. I thought she said wise a**.

You know... the Beach Club has a child rearing service during the day. I forget what it's called but you drop your kids off there, they have so much fun they forget you exist and YOU get to have some MOMMY TIME!...... Like at the STORES or perhaps a hot date with the Grey Goose slushie machine. Bring your refillable mug so you can sneak a slushie out of the park, hoof it to Storm Along Bay (the pool) and float into oblivion ALL BY YOURSELF or until you have to pick up the kids.

The reviews on the Sand Castle club from parents who have used it are great.

Here is some info from the official Disney Web site to help you further:

" Disney's Beach Club Resort makes a parent's night out possible with the Sandcastle Club—a supervised activity center that accommodates children ages 3 to 12. While you enjoy your evening your kids are treated to arts and crafts, computer games, Disney movies, dinner and snacks in an environment created just for them.
Reservations are required for the Sandcastle Club, open daily from 4:30 p.m. to midnight.
Together with independent childcare provider Kids Nite Out, Disney's Beach Club Resort also offers you the convenience of one-to-one in-room babysitting, allowing you the flexibility to enjoy your vacation your way. You can even reserve a childcare specialist to accompany you and your family during your visit to the Parks, providing a helping hand where needed. Please note that in-room childcare is available for children ages 6 months to 12 years.
To make a reservation for the Sandcastle Club or in-room babysitting, please contact the front desk or the concierge during your visit."

So there ya go! When you're tan rested and ready you'll be a much better Mommy and the kids will have fun with the sitter so you won't have to feel guilty.

Now if only they would come up with something like this for crabby husbands..... other than the pub at England!

Great news Teena! Here's hoping you'll be back on the mend and ready for Jeanne's!! We will miss seeing you this week and are thinking of you. We're going to pop in and out to see (bug) Pete...haha.

Oh my goodness, another late night (like last year) before an early flight tomorrow headed for Orlando. I'll report back on our US/IOA and WDW adventures!

Miss you, hugs,
Kerry

Can someone add me to the list for October at the BC? We'll be there Oct. 5 - 9.

So, I know that y'all have told me this before, but I can't remember what you said. I have mobility issues and will have a scooter for our trip. However, I would like to be able to walk to and from the pool and the CL lounge so I would ideally like to be near the elevators and the lounge. This is our anniversary trip so we'd like to request a king bed, but we don't care about balcony size or which parking lot/roof we see (booked standard view).

Knowing all that, what should I put on my room request in terms of location? Yes, I will list the king bed as my first choice, but I also want to at least ask for a specific location as well in the hopes we don't get stuck in the nether regions of the resort.

So, now that I've said all that - can I just tell you how flipping excited I am!!!!! Less than 2 months to go! Woohoo!!!!!!!

Be sure to keep paper and pencil on hand so that you can write down the license plate of that truck! ;)

Please, please, please follow the doctors orders and take it easy. Also take all medications as directed including the pain meds. You will be more functional if you follow the doctors orders and TAKE the PAIN MEDS!!!

Rest easy and gain your strength for that Lilly girl. I hear she's a real terror in the tub!

I had a really crappy family related day today so I splurged when I got home and upgraded to CL at BC. I admit that the appeal to me was the morning continental offerings.

I've read up on CL and I still don't really "get" it. What are the perks of it besides the yummy food lounge and the option to have someone turn down my bed (what is that by the way???)

Oh, and while I'm firing off questions: What's this about a bucket basket? I just read a post about a sandbucket of stuff waiting in the room - sounds cool but what's the story there?

*we are NOT a fancy family by any means. I am starting to wonder if we'll be out of place in CL*

We enjoyed all of the food and beverage offerings throughout the day. It was great to come back from the parks and grab an adult beverage or 2. We would either take them back to the room or just hang out in the lounge. The breakfast convenience was priceless- we are big breakfast eaters and it was great to grab it there and head out. The offerings were plentiful and a good variety.
The staff were a big help on numerous occasions. We had a car so we were always asking for directions. They went out of their way to interact with our kids. They had very helpful answers to all of our questions. We had no problems but I had the feeling that we could just ask the staff there and they would get it taken care of.
It was our son's birthday and a few Disney magic surprises happened - not sure if he would have got those in a non-CL room or not.
It was like a little haven on the 5th floor. I have not stayed non-club so a can't compare but we had a wonderful time with CL.

That's so sweet of you. I'm addicted to Tastycakes -- favorites are chocolate tandycakes and chocolate juniors. I should be in work on 9/4 and 9/5. Heading to bed now. The pain meds from the surgery are wearing off and I'm feeling pretty beat up but the doctor said I'd feel that way for about two/three days. See you soon!!
