04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

We are on the ship! Hanging on deck 9 after stuffing ourselves silly and checking out kids clubs...waiting on rooms to open.

Sue, I'm so sorry about your camera! :-( that's like if my battery pooped on my iPhone (use as camera and camcorder) and that would stink! I'm feeling your wallet pain :-(

Probably no one will read this but are we meeting anywhere for a group pic? Every cruise it seems huge group pics taken and we miss it every time so we are in none of them! Hahaha

Thanks to all those involved with lanyards pins and bracelets...all are really awesome!! I adore you guys and gals :-)

Well I'll check back in a bit and see if anyone answers...doubtful but maybe haha

We took pictures of the Wonder coming under the Golden Gate this morning. Thought you might like to see them.

Wonder passing alcatraz

Had a beautiful afternoon at pier 39, wishing the Wonder happy sailing.

Bob & I, aka valbob89, met a number of old friends from the DISboards, Shirley & Doug aka ChipperMerlin, Sandy & Tony aka goofprincess, Hilary and her two children, Monica & Trevoy aka got2travel, Johanna aka renegade7, & Noel & John aka Birkner. Along with a zillion visitors to pier39, we were thrilled to hear and watch the ship leave wishing we were on her.

Bob took over 165 pictures. Here are a few I downloaded.

San Francisco Fire Boat put on a show for all of us and escorted her past Alcatraz, Angel Island and to the bridge.

Hurry Back!

Thanks for the photos! I was able to zoom in and saw my parents:banana::banana::banana:

Glad we posted that one then. Bob took over 175 pictures of her coming and going. If you, or anyone would like copies of any of them, we would be happy to send them to you if you send a postage paid envelope. We are NOT trying to sell them just need it not to cost us anything but our time to send them.

Here is a video I shot of the Wonder as she entered San Francisco bay
The Wonder enters San Francisco bay

Thank you so much for the link! After I get a little rest, I will post some pictures from the Wonder.

Did anyone see her return around 7 last night? I guess there was a medical emergency. Hope all is well with the family:hug:

At about 6 PM I noticed mountains to port - they should have been to starboard. A moment later the Captain announced a medical emergency and our return to port. My wife and I were in Palo at the time so I couldn't take the pictures I wanted, but it was another beautiful view.

Back from the cruise - had a fun time meeting all the different people on board (both DISers and non-DISers).

A BIG apology to kpros - I figured that we would be able to find you the terminal, but with the chaos with the computers being down, I was unable to find you. I didn't think to take your room number with me or where to meet you on board (since I figured I'd be able to find you in the terminal) and unfortunately I had major connectivity issues with my iPhone so I wasn't able to log-in to find out where your stateroom was. I'm really sorry to leave you with our lanyards after you worked so hard to make them and organize us all!

Also, a big apology to Padalyn for missing the pin trading 101 session - I didn't think I saw anyone at the place we were supposed to meet (but totally could have walked right by you without realizing it), but I was a little late since the DVC members meeting ran a little late. I'm really sorry!

My DH was able to take some great shots of San Fran as we sailed back in, as well as this morning sailing into Vancouver (we got up at 5am because we wanted to be able to take a picture of English Bay - where we live - as we sailed by). I'll start our full trip report tomorrow after I get a chance to unpack and wade through all of our pictures...

Yup, we're back at home in the Vancouver area too. Piles of dirty laundry slowly working their way through the washer and getting ready to go back to work tomorrow (and silently jealous of those that were continuing on to Alaska).

Our first Disney Cruise has been proclaimed one of our best (and by some, the best)family vacations ever. As we already have DVC ponts which occupies quite a bit of our time and vacation $, DCL unfortunately won't be a frequent part of our travel plans but we are looking to go back maybe around 1.5 - 2 years from now and made a preliminary booking for late 2012 while onboard.

While we did love the cruise, we're really interested to try a warmer destination next time. Our kids were some of the crazy ones swimming the last two days in the wind and cold, although since the pools were nicely heated they were quite comfy. I've got pictures of them in the middle of the day as the only two kids in the Mickey pool. Although I am a DCL newbie, I would imagine this is a near impossible sight on a warm Carribean or Mexican cruise. While they did love the heated pool on the colder days, they just couldn't handle the cold and wind of the Pirate party on deck and we had to leave after 20 minutes. Maybe next time.

Overall, a great time.

I am glad you and your family enjoyed the trip. My first Disney cruise was also my favorite ever vacation, and earned that rating from both of my kids. But, like you, I want warmer weather next time.

If things work out financially for me, in September or March I'll take my daughter on a trip to Florida for a four night cruise. Then we'll take another family trip either in late summer 2012 or sometime in 2013. I already booked those cruises while onboard last week!

Got home late last night, cruise was amazing and was wonderful to meet the people I met from here. Have all my pictures on the computer, now just uploading them to facebook, youtube, etc.

So who else saw pub night, that was the most amazing one I've seen yet

The medical emergency was an adult passenger with appendicitis and she rejoined the ship in Vancouver for the 1st Alaska.

What a cruise, everything was more than Wonderful. Having 4 visits to Palo, unreal. Sailing with some very close friends, it was fab. We had our own table for 14 and we were the only table our wait team had. We gave them the night off in SF, went to the rock for the night tour.

I missed everyone except Jackie, and that was only for a few minutes outside Wavebands. I did not recognize anyone else.

They were well into pub night when I showed up, but I really enjoyed it - especially the skit "If I Were Not Upon the Sea"!

I also enjoyed several other shows in Wavebands at 7:30 PM. On my first cruise we would just go to the WD Theater after dinner and wait for doors to open, then my daughter and I would run for front-row seats. The discovery of family shows at 7:30 made the cruise even more fun.

I wonder what I'll discover I have been missing on my next cruise!

Ah yes, the ballerina. What a picture I got!

We are also home after a long day flying yesterday... back to laundry & mail!

Thank-you all who made this vacation special. We enjoyed the nice company at dinner, the wonderful FE gifts from so many, and the friendships we made. I need to get ambitious and write a trip report... deck 1 is pretty nice!

Does anyone happen to have an extra April 29th Navigator? I have 1 extra from the 27th, 28th , and May 1 but somehow I am missing the 29th. If anyone would like my extras. PM me your address and I will mail them.

Please, if anyone has an extra 29th or can scan the front cover and email it, I would be forever grateful. I will be more than happy to pay for the postage if US mailed.

SOMEONE RESPONDED!!! I don't need the 28th now! Yay, my scrapbook will look uniform now. But if anyone else needs the extra's let me know.
